Sir Ben Kingsley Talks Briefly About IRON MAN 3

The production for Shane Black's Iron Man 3 will be kicking off very soon. Sir Ben Kingsley however is first starring in another project before beginning work on Marvel's next Iron Man installment.

Marvel's The Avengers is breaking a lot of records at the moment, but that doesn't mean that other projects are on hold. The next Iron Man installment helmed by Shane Black will be starting production very soon in Wilmington, North Carolina. Apparently Kingsley's role is still under development, and the British actor has revealed that he will first be starring in another film, before he fully commits to Iron Man 3.

"I'm filming 'Ender's Game' in New Orleans right now and then I go onto a film called ' The Physician,' which is a beautiful film about a physician and then I go into 'Iron Man,'"

"Quite soon I'll be with everybody and we'll be discussing the look and the feel and the direction of the character. It's very early days yet, but I'm so thrilled to be on board."


Iron Man 3 will be written and directed by Shane Black, and is scheduled to hit cinemas May 3, 2013.

So he is offically confirmed now, previously he was just in negotiations. Hopefully he only discovers one or two rings or something along those lines. Having all ten rings would be madining this early, maybe have him discover some additional rings in post credits

I know before that the problem they said with the Mandarin was that he was too unrealistic, but they had Iron Man fighting aliens and a God in The Avengers...come on Marvel, just give us Mandarin!

Looking forward to this film, it's shaping out to be the best Iron Man film yet taking the plot, crew and cast all into consideration, but right now it's all about AVENGERS!!

now the Mandarin is going to be played by Sir Ben Kingsley birth name Krishna Pandit Bhanji who is a British Indian actor LOL. its amazing no one is complaining about that but when Idiris Elba a Black British actor was casted as Heimdall people lose their nut about that LOL.

if Sir Ben Kingsley is playing the Mandarin thats great.

its got to be the mandarin,you gotta love comic book movies we've just finished with the avengers & now we've got the amazing spider-man,iron man 3 & thor 2 all to look forward to from marvel.

Well shit, no one's really been bitchin too much about Depp playing a Native American either. I've seen SOME complaints, but not many. You're right tho, when Idris Elba was cast in Thor, wow, the complaints went through the roof. Personally, I didn't care about Elba or Kingsley in these roles bc I'm not a Thor or Iron Man purist. Now, the Lone Ranger on the other hand....

What is it with Burton and Verbinski having this Deppcrush?

@ jazzman: It annoys me a lot! Since when did having a villain who isn't white make someone a racist? Bane is no longer Hispanic; now the Mandarin isn't Chinese... Villains are usually the most interesting characters. I understand though; in their attempt to make nice with China, no one from China could be the big bad.
If he is Mandarin, as long as they stay true to the character, I won't complain.

people did not complain that Johnny Depp playing a Native American since he is part Native American in hes family bloodline. he even confirmed it in old interviews.
