What with all the excitement over the new Superman movie, Man of Steel, and the retro looks at the past Superman films, almost forgotten in all the hullabaloo is the quality Superman tv show, Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, which aired from 1993-1997. Starring Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher as Clark and Lois, respectively, this television show brought the mythos of Superman to a new generation, bridging the gap between the Christopher Reeves movies and the 21st century Superman films.

Below are two of the iconic images from this great Superman show:

I remeber watching this show as a kid. I think that in many ways it was similiar to those very first Superman stories, seen in the original action comics.

Lois & Clark is the show that really introduced me to Superman. I was 5 years old when it debuted and I had had a vague understanding of who Superman was because basically every kid does. I hadn't yet seen the good Reeve films, only Superman IV because it came on TV all the time. Since I was a kid I didn't realize how terrible IV was, I just thought it was awesome seeing this superpowered guy fight a nuclear-powered guy. But I never really got into the character and mythology until Lois & Clark.

It became a staple in my household that I would watch with my older siblings every week. I loved it.

About a year ago I re-watched the entire run of the show on Netflix in about 3 weekends and I really relived my childhood doing that. It was still enjoyable.

And Teri Hatcher, for me, will always be the definitive Lois Lane. I never really liked Margot Kidder's Lois. Teri Hatcher was perfect as Lois, and was my first celebrity crush because of that role.

Lane Smith from this show is who I consider as one true Perry White.
