Looks like the black barbie crotch my Cobra Commander used to beat up on. All done for now.

The more I look at the shoes, the more I hate the overall effect - touched up in post production or no, now that we've all seen it, we'll already know what they're gonna cover up - it makes no sense to me.

The fruit roll-up suit is NOT progress at all and a lot of people are deluding themselves for liking it.

People think the black crotch is going to be "fixed" when the crotch didn't have to be black in the first place. What's the point of making his crotch black if that's not the way they wanted it? The suit is made out of a cheap material, there are silly squiggly lines on it, he's wearing sneakers and we have yet to understand the eye lenses. Why wouldn't the crotch be black on purpose?

What technical or special effect would be needed that makes his crotch black, to be changed later? What's the point? Why wasn't the crotch black on the Raimi suit? Then I hear all this nob slobbing about the great practical FX. What's "practical" about wasting FX and digital editing to fix his black crotch? Do you know how tedious it would be to re-color his crotch frame for frame? Practical would mean just having his crotch the color it's supposed to be from the start. This eat-everything-on-my-plate yes-man shit is ridiculous. The suit looks like crap and has a black crotch that the film makers obviosly think is cool.

It's a light masking effect to reduce the visibility of his cock on screen so this can be marketed at families.

I've got my own issues with the costume, but I love that they're doing so much of the webslinging without CGI.

but still looking forward to this its gonna be a good spider-man movie.. maybe I catch this on DVD, and I really don't care about if his costume made for 3D, Seriously? They mess up the suit just for 3D?!?!

Spidey's Dark Crotch in 3D!!!!! o_O

The black crotch is kinda dumb and the missing belt to. The eyes are orange but at least the rest of the suit with exeption some changes in the gloves and the feet is looking cool.I wish they fix the crotch with the CGI. I hope the cast makes the diferrence and the story is the new beggining for spidey's film debut. One year and something remains. But hey green lantern looked like shit in the first trailer and now it looks like the star wars of superhero movies. Other people i suppose won't get affected from the suit issue but we the comic geeks have issues with these kind of things. Well in Greece where i live i can't find comic shops or anything. My friends all the time make fun of comics and think that only football and counter strike are important. So i order everything from ebay. What i'm trying to say is that the general audience won't have a problem with the suit but they are going to watch because like it or not he's the friendly neighbour spiderman.

People are idiots for liking that piece of crap movies raimi did. And the costume, well its a superhero movie the costumes are already ridiculous like in raimis :P, this is the best one I think

Don't think I'm trying to start an argument here, but just proposing a reason for the black crotch. Could be one.

You see how the suit's material is tending to show a lot more contours and bumps then the fabric of the original costume?

You see how the crotch area is a bugling out a bit too much? What about if they did purposely make the crotch black so that in post, they can remove the bulge (since its kinda...distracting). So the reason its black could be to track the crotch to edit the bump (and the color) when they're doing FX.

One theory, I have no idea if this is true, and I don't know exactly how FX are done. And be realistic for a second. Who in the world would think that a black crotch is awesome?!? "Oh yes, let's make the penis pop out more for a movie that lots of kids will see too!" It makes NO sense whatsoever.

I'm probably wayy wrong and the reason for it being black could be crotch sweats for all I know, and I'll look really really stupid for over-analyzing -_____-

I would assume that his crotch is black so that his junk will more easily recede into the shadows when they play with the contrast of the final film. Yes, it looks stupid, but I do believe it won't ever be apparent in the final film.

The silver slippers are definitely part of the costume and meant to be seen. And the lack of a belt line in front still makes for a very feminine design... So maybe they'd be better off letting his junk protrude.

They should have stuck with the original costume... Oh well I'm sure this flick will be awesome bad costume or not.

Don't worry, they said the suit is built to look different in 3D. The infamous crotch won't pop up in your face for sure!
