Lauren Shuler Donner On Retconning X-MEN: THE LAST STAND; Updates On DEADPOOL

During the UK premier of X-Men: DOFP, HeyUGuys got a chance to talk to the producer about the inbetweenquel and whether or not it will make up for the mistakes made in previous X-films. She also gives an update on the long awaited Deadpool solo film.

Talking to HeyUGuys, Lauren revealed how X-Men: Days Of Future Past would impact the previous films,“Yes, it will be putting that right,” She added “Just forget about X-3! And the first Wolverine; forget about that too!”  Given the ending of DOFP, it all makes sense. It completely erases those events of X-Men: The Last Stand from ever happening which leaves our fellow mutants in an interesting place. On Deapool, the producer said, "“We so want to make it. We’re getting there. I think it will, but one thing now is the rating. If we make it a smaller budget movie, we can go for the R-Rating. If not, then we push the boundaries of PG-13 which is alright too. We just don’t want to saturate the market to the point where it’s just not special anymore.” In other words, we won't be getting a Deadpool movie any time soon. last time we heard Ryan Reynolds was attached to the project. Whether or not he's still attached to the project, remains to be seen. What do you guys think? Do you think the MercWithMouth will ever have his own solo film? Leave your thoughts down in the usual place.

To me after I see DoFP the events after the 60's/(early 70's) within Origins never happened.

Won't be hard for me to ignore X3 either.
MrMartinMarvel - 5/13/2014, 10:23 AM
Good news, I already blocked X3 and X-Men Origins from my memory.
Giznad - 5/13/2014, 10:24 AM
screw Ryan Reynolds. Put Nolan North in that suit.
GliderMan - 5/13/2014, 10:24 AM
[frick]ING STUPID BULLSHIT MOVE. WHAT A BUNCH OF DAMN COWARDS. [frick].
charlie2094 - 5/13/2014, 10:24 AM
Forget about X3. Don't think you'll have any trouble there! :P

DOFP gets rid of X3, perfect. Really do hope this completely cleans up the X-Men universe. Had been wanting a reboot, hope this sways me, looks brilliant.

Deadpool just needs to happen already . Much prefer it to be a lower budget r-rated movie, would help do the character justice and not be another big blockbuster superhero film. Wouldn't entirely mind if they did it as pg-13, think they'd be able to get a lot of his humor right still, long as they really push it. Could always film more to release unrated later on
SKOne - 5/13/2014, 10:24 AM
I have to believe that Deadpool will end up being introduced in X-Force first before his own movie at this point. As much as I liked Ryan Reynolds as the pre-Deadpool Wade for the 10 minutes or so he got to play the character, I also think someone else will play him from now on.
TheCaptain03 - 5/13/2014, 10:25 AM
Just do the low budget film. The cheesier the better!!!! LETS DO IT!
TheFirstAvenger97 - 5/13/2014, 10:25 AM
Glad they're trying to do it.
Doopie - 5/13/2014, 10:27 AM
this is kind of non-committal. i would favour a low budget hard R/18 rating. but i don't want reynolds back
JoJo1982 - 5/13/2014, 10:30 AM
Deadpool needs to happen waay before another Wolverine sequel or even a Gambit movie
I'm just saying
MrMartinMarvel - 5/13/2014, 10:31 AM
But seriously, I think making X3 and Origins non canon is just really lazy. While I personally don't mind Iron Man 2, just imagine if Marvel suddenly started pretending it didn't exist.
XF14 - 5/13/2014, 10:34 AM
@MrMartinMarvel
My thoughts exactly
batz11 - 5/13/2014, 10:34 AM
Is the ending of DOFP erasing Last Stand a spoiler? Just asking, wasn't sure if I missed something along the way, ha,ha...
McNyagano - 5/13/2014, 10:35 AM
Hey Lauren..
PsyGuy - 5/13/2014, 10:41 AM
THANK YOU Singer for swooping in and cleaning up the mess others made of your franchise. This is the best thing that could possibly happen to the series honestly.
Thing94 - 5/13/2014, 10:42 AM
Why is Deadpool so popular?
Lemons - 5/13/2014, 10:43 AM
Go smaller budget with R-Rating and put Nolan North in the suit.
green101lantern - 5/13/2014, 10:43 AM
BAZINGA!
Enphlieuwince - 5/13/2014, 10:44 AM
Way to take accountability FOX.
MsDarkPhoenix - 5/13/2014, 10:44 AM
But can I really forget X3?? Can I????
MsDarkPhoenix - 5/13/2014, 10:45 AM
Only if you brainwashed me. Thanks for ruining my favorite storyline AND character FOX!!
JoJo1982 - 5/13/2014, 10:47 AM
@blacknerd

That's good cause the events of DOFP pretty much erased everything except for the first 20 minutes of Wolverine Origins(which is prolly the only part that's watchable in that movie)

So basically Wade Wilson hasn't became Barakpool!!!
McNyagano - 5/13/2014, 10:47 AM
Thank you to whoever fixed my article lol:)

TheMexicanSuperman - 5/13/2014, 10:48 AM
@MrMartinMarvel, well X-Men 1-3, X-Men Origins Wolverine, The Wolverine, and the future part of XMDOFP aren't canon anymore thanks to ending of XMDOFP.
Bekss - 5/13/2014, 10:50 AM
Singer clean up his franchise.

Those bad movies made everyone here hate Singer for no reason
Opticblast - 5/13/2014, 10:51 AM
By forgetting these movies, it makes even more of a mess especially to the general audience.

Singer attempted this before with Superman Returns, by choosing to make a semi-sequel to Superman II and forgetting Superman III-IV, like they never happened.

Who else does this? It's so annoying. When a franchise is this confusing and constantly needs retconning, it means one thing. They should REBOOT!

Oh wait, they can't. They want to hold onto their golden gooses (Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, etc.).
Jackraow21 - 5/13/2014, 10:51 AM
X-Force and Deadpool should film back to back.
Arrow96 - 5/13/2014, 10:53 AM
Ryan is attached!? STILL? MY GOD YES!!!
McNyagano - 5/13/2014, 10:53 AM
"Those bad movies made everyone here hate Singer for no reason"

That's not the reason why people hate Singer.
AlphaAndDecima - 5/13/2014, 10:53 AM
Forget X-Men Origins: Wolverine? Cool, done. Movie was terrible anyways.

Forget X-Men: The Last Stand? I still like the film and have always said X1 - X3 should be held at its own continuity. Anything extra featuring the old cast is just extra gravy sauce.
sicknimon - 5/13/2014, 10:54 AM
I've decided Ryan Reynolds would actually not make a great Deadpool. We need somebody who has an athletic build and a personality like Robin Williams to play Deadpool. We also need Robert Rodriguez to direct or somebody who can make a Machette style movie. R Rated or bust.
Nomis - 5/13/2014, 10:54 AM
I'D LIKE TO FORGET THE WHOLE SERIES OF MOVIES, ALTOGETHER!

But you can't unseen what you've already seen!
MrMartinMarvel - 5/13/2014, 10:55 AM
@TheMexicanSuperman I guess it depends on how well it's executed, but coming up with a way in the story to "undo" them doesn't make it any less lazy.
ThrotTheUnclean - 5/13/2014, 10:55 AM
PG-13 IS BULLSHIT!!!!!!!! It is not "all right" wtf are you talking about?

If they make it PG-13 then they better shoot the R-rated script and just cut it, then sell the R-rated version on DVD. Because I would not see it theaters.
TelaVizion - 5/13/2014, 10:57 AM
It's stupid to "erase" what was the best of the original trilogy. So what if Cyclops was missing, he's not needed. Thousands of other mutants out there for them to use in movies.
Ramiel - 5/13/2014, 10:58 AM
This doesn't make sense. If we are to forget The Last Stand, then are we to also forget The Wolverine since those events occured after X3?
batz11 - 5/13/2014, 10:58 AM
Don't hate, but do you think people are clamoring for a Deadpool film? Maybe if if it's kinda like Kick-Ass, it could do well, just not sure if general audience will go?
RetroFit - 5/13/2014, 10:59 AM
Who cares about Ryan Reynolds. Get Stifler, he'd be way better in the role anyways. And do it smaller so you can give it the R rating. Go off the script that floated around, it was awesome! And had Colossus!
Scarilian - 5/13/2014, 11:02 AM
The fact they are literally turning around and telling you to forget the previous films they made just highlights why I hate this series. If its something bad they want you to forget it and watch the next one - theirs no point watching the series when they retcon anything bad.

A PG-13 rating for Deadpool is not alright - he's [frick]ing Deadpool. He swears constantly, he murders people without remorse and he often gets stabbed thousands of times. It wont do the character justice to drop the rating.
