You guys agree with @WoodsmanHans that Duncan Jones should be on the shortlist to direct Stephen Strange?

Doctor Strange

Hugh Laurie as Stephen Strange?

Marvel Studios
As alluded to on the left, with DC (Warner Bros.) having trouble getting Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel on the big screen, think a Doctor Strange movie can be successful?

Well, think the Doctor Strange movie should be based on Mark Waids '09-'10 run on the comic? Would Cliff Simon make a good Sorcerer Supreme? Would you rather see Black Panther or Iron Fist? Sound off below and defend your position on your own viewpoints!

Doctor Stephen Strange is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was co-created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Strange Tales #110 (July 1963).

Debuting in the Silver Age of comics, the character has featured in several self-titled series and Marvel-endorsed products including arcade and video games; animated television series; a direct-to-DVD film; and merchandise such as trading cards. In 2011 IGN ranked Dr. Strange 38th in their "Top 100 comics heroes".

norrinradd85 - 8/3/2011, 6:21 PM
Depp or Caviezel cast as Strange……..That is all.
xizorkatarn - 8/3/2011, 6:23 PM
Woah... Duncan Jones could do an amazing job as director, but I think he deals better in the sci-fi realm than the magical fantasy realm.

My first choice to direct Dr. Strange would probably be David Yates, as he is well versed in the badass side of magic.
Coldblood6 - 8/3/2011, 6:23 PM
Dr. Strange is a great character, but like THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA it will take a GREAT script and visionary director to make not cheesy.

Ergo, MARVEL STUDIOS can do it.
xizorkatarn - 8/3/2011, 6:24 PM
Also, Hugh Laurie or Jimmy Smitts would be amazing Doctor Stranges.
TruthNoFodder - 8/3/2011, 6:24 PM
I like twitter buzz too.
PoPcornDude - 8/3/2011, 6:28 PM

JatevinM - 8/3/2011, 6:47 PM
Either Johnny Depp, Hugh Laurie, Ralph Fiennes, or Liam Nesson.
JohnTom88 - 8/3/2011, 6:49 PM
Marvel should do big screen Moon Knight right after TDKR.
Sortis - 8/3/2011, 6:50 PM

Ryden - 8/3/2011, 6:59 PM
Duncan Jones is an awesome director don't know about him for Strange though, it's a cliche choice but Del Toro is THE MAN for Strange.
bropous - 8/3/2011, 6:59 PM
I would LOVE to see Rowan Atkinson as Dr. Strange!!!!

Okay. I ain't GONNA see Rowan Atkinson as Dr. Strange.

So I nomiate Hugh Laurie as the good Doctor, with Guillermo del Toro as Director. And may Dormammu tremble in his [boots?]!!!!!

I DO think Sean Bean could handle the role rather well.
Ryden - 8/3/2011, 7:00 PM
@mikehawk- But it doesn't matter because that's DC and this is Marvel.
MikeHawk - 8/3/2011, 7:00 PM
yay for bean! lol
bropous - 8/3/2011, 7:01 PM
....or, as suggested above, the fellow playing Lord "Littlefinger" Baelish in Game of Thrones...

And if del Toro can come along and make it "dark" enough, I wanna see him follow up with an Elric of Melnibone movie, the film I HOPE to see before I die.
norrinradd85 - 8/3/2011, 7:01 PM
Depp or Caviezel and that is final.

TorturedXGenius - 8/3/2011, 7:05 PM

SUPERBATSPIDERMAN - 8/3/2011, 7:34 PM
Depp is too old to be Strange and he is too big of an actor. I would want someone is is relatively young for the role.
thanos83 - 8/3/2011, 7:41 PM
strange cant be young..he should atleast be inching toward 40,dont u want 2 see his grey temples?,besides
superpooper - 8/3/2011, 7:49 PM
Daniel Day Lewis is Dr. Strange. Oscar for best actor. Would be the best thing to happen to cbm's ever.
superpooper - 8/3/2011, 7:51 PM
@toughgrappler Best Marvel animated film so far imo.
ckal - 8/3/2011, 7:58 PM
Hugh Laurie???? LOL GTFO!!
the1egend1ives - 8/3/2011, 8:08 PM
Honestly, I wouldn't mind Patrick Dempsey for the role. Johnny Depp would be awesome, but he would be WAYYYY too expensive for Marvel. Marvel needs to use that money for more important things.
ScionStorm - 8/3/2011, 8:12 PM
I liked the animated movie. I was sad it was missing his trademark magic phrases especially because they aren't just crazy words. He's had problems about his habit of calling upon certain mystical entities even when he shouldn't be (like when they are all fighting over him). Those were have meanings and repercussions.

The ending was annoyingly disappointing to the otherwise excellently driven story. I really wish they hadn't done that for the climax. Especially the giant Dormammu. First he was like Oz, a big head. Then the ending was like the climax of The Little Mermaid only less compelling and more cliche.
ScionStorm - 8/3/2011, 9:09 PM
At the beginning of The War of the Seven Spheres Strange ran into trouble and had to pronounce the Emancipation Incantation to free him of any obligation between entities.

Bad Habits

TheMyth - 8/3/2011, 9:11 PM
Hmmm, never considered Hugh Laurie... that might be full of win. Also digging Sean Bean and Liam Neeson. I've never followed the good Doctor like other characters, I know about as much as I did about Thor before the film. I just never got into the mystic side of comic characters. That's not to say I don't enjoy what I know of him, he's easily my favorite character involving the magic side of Marvel. Lets hope they can adapt him properly!
blyndjustyce - 8/3/2011, 9:14 PM
I say Rufus Sewell from Eleventh Hour. He has the look, can act and has played the "I'm better than you" type to a tee
