Speaking to MTV at the Independent Spirit Awards,Michael Shannon starts off the brief interview very jokingly but get's much more serious at the end. While it's questionable whether or not what Shannon utters is an actual phrase from the movie you can tell by the transformation of his features that he definitely put on the Zod persona for a few seconds. Check it out.

Man of Steel is an upcoming superhero film under the development of Zack Snyder, Christopher Nolan, and David S. Goyer. Based on the DC Comics character Superman, the film will be a reboot of the Superman film series. Using Chicago and Vancouver as a backdrop, with production to be based in west suburban Plano, Illinois, the film entered principal photography in August 2011, for a planned theatrical release on June 14, 2013 by Warner Bros., which also includes IMAX venues

"Unable to offer this video to users in your region".

Someone can put it on Youtube or something like that?
Or at least transcribe what he said?

I just hate this MTV player.

I don't think Shannon "put on the Zod persona for a few seconds", I think he was just fooling around. This interview is fun but no big deal at all, and not Man of Steel news worthy.
ksommer - 2/27/2012, 6:03 AM
Can't see it either. Is it just me or does Michael Shannon seem like a weak actor to be Zod. I just keep picturing him from Bad Boys 2 and being that "Southern hick".
Dynamo - 2/27/2012, 6:05 AM
@ksommer
You obviously haven't seen either Boardwalk Empire or his new film Take Shelter. He's far from being a weak actor...
MrReese - 2/27/2012, 6:05 AM
he said "you do realize the universe is constantly shrinking Superman" he's gonna be bawse as Zod.

p.s God Bless America XD

@ksommer - watch a few episodes of boardwalk empire and that "southern hick" character will be gone from your memory. Shannon has a lot of range from his various roles.

In a different thought, I have never been 100% behind Amy Adams as Lois for this movie. Yes she has shown herself as a great actress I just can't picture her as the vision I have of the character. So until I see the film and her portrayal, I am not sure if I will be completely sold. With that said, I saw her on the red carpet for the Academy Awards last night and I have to say she looked pretty damn hot...

Shaman - 2/27/2012, 6:13 AM
And all this time i thought the universe was constantly expanding. Glad Zod put the speculation to rest.
Shaman - 2/27/2012, 6:16 AM
Oooh, shiny!!! About time the website realised i was a perverted weirdo.

Shannon looked at the guy conducting the interview like he wanted to crush his throat. Can't say I blame him, what an annoying little insect!

Nemeres - 2/27/2012, 6:44 AM
Can someone PLEASE transcribe what the eff he said, if the guy who posted the article didn't think it necessary?
JosephKing - 2/27/2012, 6:48 AM
Can someone download the video and upload it on Youtube? Is it possible?
ksommer - 2/27/2012, 6:48 AM
Noted! I didn't mean as a "weak actor" as far as acting chops. More so not threatening enough. If that makes sense. I'll have to check out Boardwalk Empire.
xXkryptoniteXx - 2/27/2012, 6:51 AM
I like it if that's the line but with his voice, he doesn't sound anything epic. I'll still wait and see with the final product.

"You do realize the universe is constantly shrinking Superman"

That's a sick line, if that is official. Not his voice.
Shaman - 2/27/2012, 6:51 AM
Nemeres- Read MrReese's comment.
MrReese - 2/27/2012, 6:59 AM
@Nemeres

"I saw the dance sequence, but that's it, just because I have to match the moves," Shannon joked — we hope. We could even see a silent, black-and-white, song-and-dance film à la "The Artist," the actor quipped: "We're actually taking a lot of stuff from 'The Artist' and incorporating it into 'The Man of Steel.' "

Getting a little more serious in his answers, Shannon admitted there will be some brains behind Zod's brawn. He shared that he got to perform some epic dialogue while filming the movie. "Zod has some speeches; he has some cool speeches," he said. "I got to say some cool stuff, but I can't say any of it right now."

After a long pause, Shannon shared what just might be an actual line from "Man of Steel": "Do you realize the universe is constantly shrinking, Superman?"
Ranger14 - 2/27/2012, 7:17 AM
Well, he certainly has a wimpy natural voice.
95 - 2/27/2012, 7:24 AM
That's how Michael Shannon really sounds?

lol, he's a dork.
BlazinTexan - 2/27/2012, 7:28 AM
hes a ACTOR he can change his voice
ronnie42 - 2/27/2012, 7:36 AM
'Can not be view outside the US'

Copyright BS more like, theres no legal reason or decent reason for this, just wasted my time so next time please upload on youtube or something.
Jolt17 - 2/27/2012, 7:37 AM
I came across the movie 13 some days before; I didn't see the movie from beginning to end, but I did see Shannon, and I can easily see him as Zod from that.

Oh, [frick] MTV, of course.
MovieMaster - 2/27/2012, 7:48 AM
[frick] you MTV you racist bastards.
valeriesghost - 2/27/2012, 8:04 AM
wow, didn't realize how many of you are outside the US. Not being able to see a video sucks. I knew that a huge chuck of our CBM family was outside of the states, i just forget sometimes. Now i plan on reading all of your comments in my head with a British accent. Whether you are or not ;)
Frankie312 - 2/27/2012, 8:36 AM
i have a great feeling about this movie i just do cant wait anymore!!!
Ranger14 - 2/27/2012, 8:43 AM
"hes a ACTOR he can change his voice"

Who said he couldn't? I simply made an observation.
zerakis81 - 2/27/2012, 9:10 AM
We cant see it....
rbfn04 - 2/27/2012, 9:14 AM
wait, isnt the universe expanding?
Bobbywoodhogan - 2/27/2012, 9:29 AM
Can't view it cause I'm not in the US I hate these MTV videos.
TheOzmaofOz - 2/27/2012, 10:47 AM
Really thought he said "Universe is constantly shrieking" not "shrinking". Haha.
Supersonicboobs - 2/27/2012, 11:35 AM
universe is constantly shrinking..."may mean":-- civilizations in the universe are diminishing!!..becoming fewer!...probably being destroyed by someone...Brianiac or Frieza,perhaps...lol

Devastator335 - 2/27/2012, 2:08 PM
I can't wait for this movie! :)
mgeoff88 - 2/27/2012, 3:32 PM
I think he's going to be a much more menacing General Zod.

I hope we get a "Kneel before Zod" from him.
AUSSYACE - 3/2/2012, 10:22 PM
I have only seen him in one other movie with Jason Statham and he was Ok...
iuhgluiblbjjkhkjhkljh - 9/6/2012, 6:54 AM
If this movie is successful, it could even spawn a "kneeling before Zod" exercise video.
