Director Robert Rodriguez to finally begin shooting the LONG delayed sequel to Sin City later this year.....reportedly. Do we believe him this time around?

Sin City Robert Rodriguez

Taking to the SXSW stage to discuss the initiatives of his Quickdraw Productions company, Rodriguez also commented that Sin City 2 will begin production later this year, most likely over the summer. He remained silent on the cast but did indicate that the targeted actors will be of the same caliber of the first film, which featured Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Clive Owen and Josh Hartnett.

Whether that means he's targeting the same actors or going after a fresh cast is anyone's guess but that's likely what Rodriguez intended with such a cryptic answer. I think the real question here is that after such a long gap between the first film, will a sequel still have the same appeal with moviegoers given the current state of what media outlets like to refer to as "comic book adaptation fatigue."

It's long been thought that the sequel will look to take it's cues from Frank Miller's A Dame To Kill For. Oscar winning writer William Monahan (The Departed) is writing Sin City 2 alongside Miller and Rodriguez.

He said the same thing last year during Comic Con.

It'll never happen : )
MarkJulian - 3/14/2012, 7:18 AM
Eh...he did say that and I quote "if it's going to happen, it has to happen this year". That year being 2011 and we're now in 2012 so who the hell knows.
WolvieCBM - 3/14/2012, 7:27 AM
Well yeah, that's my point. He is just talking. I bet we will hear the same thing during this summer.

Agreed.

Stupid project (as stupid as 300 sequel), cluttering the comic film pool.

evyllsummer - 3/14/2012, 9:18 AM
It's going to have to be completely recast at this point, so, yeah, lemme know when the cast is locked in.
forthesakeofnow - 3/14/2012, 9:33 AM
aside from willis, does anyone in the general public care about any of those actors anymore?
CBArtist - 3/14/2012, 9:38 AM

Hoping Mickey Rourke will back for this project! For me he's the only one who can play Marv.

This is not happening. About 1 or 2 months from now Rodriguez will announce he is attached to another movie entirely, and Rose McGowan is going to star in it. This guy makes the boy who cried wolf seem reliable.
Solitario - 3/14/2012, 11:29 AM
This guy is not going to do anything he is saying.
l0rdleg0las - 3/14/2012, 11:36 AM
