Dominic West Harbors No Desire For Kingship, Turns Down GAME OF THRONES

HBO's Game of Thrones is looking to cast Mance Ryder, the king of the Wildlings who live on the other side of the ice wall. They apparently approached actor Dominic West (John Carter) who's decided to pass.

"I was offered something on 'Game of Thrones' and unfortunately, I hadn't seen it, but my nephew and his father said, 'Gosh, "Game of Thrones" is the only great show on!' And I felt terrible, because I'd just turned them down," West said.

"It was a lovely part, a good part. I'm going to regret it," he said with a rueful laugh. "My problem is, I've got four kids, and at the moment, I'm reluctant to be away from home for a long time. I can get a lot of work in London and still be at home. That's one of the many brilliant things about 'The Hour.'"

"Should I have taken it?" he asked the Huffington Post reporter, semi-seriously.

Uh,hell yeah! I'm pretty sure that if West had taken the time to watch the show, which happens to be the #1 rated cable show on television, he'd probably reconsider. You can't place the blame solely on West though, I'm wondering how his agent could possibly let this one pass.

Loved him on The Wire (another great HBO series). West always delivers, whatever the genre.

I hope he sees season 3 and kicks himself in the @$$ for turning down this role.
DioFoRio - 8/7/2012, 10:15 AM
good for him! The show is overrated. Kevin James isn't even funny in that show.
DioFoRio - 8/7/2012, 10:16 AM

That would have been great casting...not that I really know what is required of the Mance Rayder charcacter though, since I've only read the first book and watched 2 seasons of the show. From what I heard though he would have been great casting!

Dionosys, pick up season 1 on DVD then buy the HBO package to watch season 2. The show doesn't deserve to be downloaded.
DioFoRio - 8/7/2012, 10:50 AM
sweet. I'll pick it up. Speaking of downloading legally.....have you guys checked out the game Slender? Free download. Creepy as hell. Made me jump and squeal

Four kids...little wonder he's disoriented.
JULEZ13 - 8/7/2012, 11:15 AM
I watched the first 4 episodes of the show. I like fantasy stuff, especially when monarchies are involved but it didn't draw me in. I would have to say its overrated.

Maybe I should've given it another episode or so... but thats just too much time delved into getting me to like it.
DioFoRio - 8/7/2012, 11:15 AM
creepy game Batz
Nubase - 8/7/2012, 11:22 AM
luckily for him he will always have work thats why he turned it down, if he really needed the role he would have taken it but yeah he is a top actor, the wire is just a classic, he has not set the big screen alight yet but l;m sure he will get his big movie role soon.
Spidex3000 - 8/7/2012, 11:36 AM
That sucks would have been nice to see Carcetti and McNulty together again.
HeadPool420 - 8/7/2012, 11:44 AM
Hopefully this will start him to research projects before turning them down. Sucks he would have been awesome on GOT!
Ryguy88 - 8/7/2012, 12:05 PM
Dion, I read the synopsis of Slender, sounds pretty creepy, but I don't play games on my laptop.

Julez, if you don't like the characters then you will never get into the plot which means you probably wont follow whats happening and therefor not like the show. I had to read online which characters were who for the first few episodes until I knew for certain who was being talked about and when. Then the show was awesome sauce!

Can I vote for Clancy Brown to join Game Of Thrones? After all,he DOES know how to wield a sword....
MrCameron - 8/7/2012, 5:43 PM
This guy needs to be either Dr. Doom or Lex Luthor in the character's respective reboots.
