Royal Flush Gang Set To Tangle With The CW's Green ARROW
The Justice League villains are confirmed to tangle with Starling City's Arrow in the sixth episode of the series titled 'Legacies.' Actor Kyle Schmid confirmed to portray Ace.
On paper, the CW's Arrow appears to be making all the right moves. Deadshot, Deathstroke, Chyna White, Huntress and now The Royal Flush Gang (RFG) are all confirmed to appear on the show. Debuting in an episode titled 'Legacies', that probably implies that we won't see an origin story for the villains but one of the later incarnation of the RFG. The group has ties to Hector Hammond and Maxwell Lord in the pages of DC Comics.
Actor Kyle Schmid will portray Ace in the show's version of the RFG. Schmid was previously seen on Being Human" and "Blood Ties." Zap2It reports that his real name is Kyle Preston, a slight deviation from the Android Ace of the second generation Royal Flush Gang. No confirmation yet as to whether Schmid is indeed playing an android.
The Royal Flush Gang or RFG are fictional characters in DC Comics. They first appeared in Justice League of America #43 in March 1966 under the leadership of Professor Amos Fortune.
They are a group of playing card-themed supervillains who are usually thwarted by the superheroes they encounter. They have code names based on a royal flush in poker i.e. Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten.
The original Royal Flush Gang was Professor Amos Fortune's childhood gang. With Fortune himself as Ace, they fought the Justice League on two occasions, using Fortune's luck-altering "stellaration" technology. The second Royal Flush Gang was set up by Green Lantern villain Hector Hammond in Justice League of America #203. Hammond led the group as "Wildcard". This version wore technologically advanced costumes based on the suit of spades. The gang split up and went on to have separate criminal careers before re-establishing themselves, without Hammond. They were twice hired by Maxwell Lord as part of his manipulation of Justice League International. Later, they were reorganized and reoutfitted by a successor to the Golden Age Green Lantern villain the Gambler. The post-crisis version of the Royal Flush Gang appears in Justice League of America (volume 2) #35. This version is working under the authority of Amos Fortune, who is addressed by other members as "Wild Card". In the following issue, Fortune gives a history of the gang. It seems to combine the first and third gangs' histories/characteristics, with Fortune indicating that he was always running the group in some capacity.
Arrow premiers October 10th on the CW.
Royal Flush Gang as seen on the animated series, Batman Beyond.
