RUMOR: Frank Miller Involved With Warner Bros.' JUSTICE LEAGUE Film?

Reports Bleeding Cool:

An undercover Warner Bros. marketing/research team ventured into an undisclosed comic book shop and began asking a series of question to gauge what fans reactions are to Marvel Studios, the Justice League and Frank Miller. Here are the highlights of said covert operation---

-They entered posing as fans, but it was obvious to staff by the time they finished their first question that they were not.

-One of their first questions was whether fans would accept a DC superhero movie without Christopher Nolan directing and if he served as a producer, would that placate fans?

- They also asked what fans thought of Aquaman and what roster would fans want for the Justice League?

- They reportedly mocked the Ant-Man film only to become worried when the staff said it would probably be cool.

- They appeared extremely interested in discussing the obscure characters that were related to the Justice League.

-The final question was "What would fan reaction be to a Justice League movie with Frank Miller’s name attached?”

This all seems a bit surreal but stranger things have happened I suppose. The most interesting tidbit for me was the marketing teams assurance that a film would be released in 2014. After Man of Steel, there's currently nothing forthcoming from Warner Bros.' in the superhero adaptation business. At least nothing officially announced. Aside from that comment, we also have no idea what's exactly meant by a "Justice League movie with Frank Miller's name attached" comment. Is he rewriting Will Beall's (Gangster Squad) script, producing or directing? Time will only tell, we'll be sure to post any additional developments as they unfold.I'd also counsel that [if true] this was a marketing team not any of the decision-makers involved with the film. Their sole agenda is to simply acquire as much data and feedback as possible and often times, these individuals don't really know anything about the subject their gathering data on.

geokouba007 - 9/25/2012, 6:12 AM
Frank Miller on the Justice League ? i love Frank but........... No thank you. He should finish All Star Bat Man & Robin first and then he can re-think doing films. go back to your roots Frank: COMICS !
geokouba007 - 9/25/2012, 6:20 AM
WHAT KIND OF IDIOTS ARE WB ? THEY SEND A RESEARCH TEAM THAT KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT COMICS, AND EXPECT TO GET WHAT EXACTLY ? here's the way i see it. Avengers = success . why ? Joss Wedon . why Joss Wedon ? he's a fan. he understands the characters and the Marvel Universe. Get a filmmaker who is passinonate about DC Universe and you got yourself a Justice League movie. it's not rocket science WB. what about that guy that did Watchmen and is now doing Man Of Steel? what's his name again ?
jimoakley666 - 9/25/2012, 6:23 AM
Oh, watch out. He'll make Aquaman a drunk, the Flash a pervert, Batman a sadomasochist, Wonder Woman a whore (probably played by a porn star) and Superman a rapist.

Miller seems to have a screw loose lately. What the HELL was he thinking with All Star B&R?
StrangerX - 9/25/2012, 6:30 AM
How do you screw up posing as comic book fans..jeez
BruceLeroy - 9/25/2012, 6:37 AM
Oh wow, if this is real, WB is even more lost than I originally thought. Completely cringe worthy.

Hmmm... Not sure about this. I liked The Dark Knight Returns so I wouldn't mind him in some ways. Perhaps he would be good for penning the screenplay? IDK. Just depends on a lot of things.

Also DC, just wait, Ant-man will be too cool. Just wait and see.
invalensname5 - 9/25/2012, 6:45 AM
jimoakley666- never a truer word spoken!

"We're the God-damned Justice League!"

i imagine middle-aged men in suits looking lost in that store..
siggisuperman - 9/25/2012, 6:49 AM
this is the dumbest shit. Why send a research team ? this shows how stupid WB isthey could just hire one dude to go and read forums on websites like this one. Or just employ talented fans that are aware of what people want.
jimoakley666 - 9/25/2012, 6:52 AM
@Mrcool210 - Very funny, dude and exactly what I was thinking.

Although I had to watch a minute long advert to see the ten second clip.

These video adverts are getting to be really [frick]ing irritating lately, aren't they? Specially the ones you can't skip. And CBM is going nucking futs with them.
Minstrik - 9/25/2012, 6:55 AM
What they don't seem to get - and this is especially obvious when they tried putting down the Ant-Man movie - is that comic book fans, with some exception, are not like Democrats and Republicans. It's not just DC and Marvel to us. We like COMIC BOOKS! I have my preference but I am not so closed-minded that I'm going to choose one and only one. I can't wait to see them ALL!
kackbratze - 9/25/2012, 6:59 AM
Oh well, RUMOR after RUMOR...
xNightwingx - 9/25/2012, 7:01 AM
@SaxoWolf My thoughts EXACTLY!!
RGINLA - 9/25/2012, 7:02 AM
Yo DC & WB... Nike called and said, JUST DO IT!!!
toco89 - 9/25/2012, 7:03 AM
Why is everybody taking it like its true?

I honestly thought it was a joke.
marvel72 - 9/25/2012, 7:03 AM
why not he did a fantastic job on the spirit, that reminds me thanks nan for the spirit blu-ray a couple of christmas back.

she knew i liked comic book movies,so out of all the comic book movies she could of brought me she picked the spirit.
GodzillaKart - 9/25/2012, 7:04 AM
My response would be "That would be the quickest way to kill JL".

Frank Miller?! He has written some classic books for sure, but he also did The Spirit, which showed that he had zero respect for the source material.

I'm happy is Nolan wan't to finance future films, and I appreciate what he did in bringing Batman back to life (flawed as it was), but I think the DC cinematic universe needs very much NOT to be the Nolanverse.
JordanKing - 9/25/2012, 7:07 AM
Stay tuned for next week, as Jolly St. Nick will be in the running to direct...
GetsugaTensho22 - 9/25/2012, 7:11 AM
This is by far the stupidest piece of "news" ever reported. Not the reporters fault, but really?
"Covert team of researchers"?!?! Use your common [frick]ing sense people, this is some crap some retard sitting in his arm-chair made up for shits and giggles!!!!
OdinsBeard - 9/25/2012, 7:16 AM
Get someone relevant to the past decade please.
longbowhunter - 9/25/2012, 7:17 AM
I read this on Bleeding Cool. Everything they "report" is somewhat dubious I think.
Tainted87 - 9/25/2012, 7:18 AM
Yeah I don't think so
JayJayCAW - 9/25/2012, 7:24 AM
nothing against Frank Miller, but I wouldn't really want him to be part of the Justice League film.

He's good at 1 or 2 characters at a time...well let me refraze that, he's good at 1 or 2 that are not created by him at anyone time, but when you throw him onto a group project with characters that he did not create himself, he tends to alienate most of them like he did with Justice League in All-Star Batman & Robin.

Still waiting to read exactly what Will Beall's version would look like before I make a decision of if I'm willing to give this film a shot :)
DrRockso - 9/25/2012, 7:25 AM
I masturbated whilst reading this post
SuperSomething616 - 9/25/2012, 7:25 AM
Yeah Frank Miller on Justice league...if WB want to ruin Batman for any future films this is a good move!!!
DrRockso - 9/25/2012, 7:25 AM
Not the Frank Miller part, just anything JL
ShadowOfTheWeb - 9/25/2012, 7:32 AM
seriously WB need to get their sh1t together and realise exactly what they're sitting on. marvel respect the source material and bring in directors who support that. It's not complicated!
JULEZ13 - 9/25/2012, 7:36 AM
Ugh... Frank Miller was good in his hay-day but he's too dark and extreme to be a part of this.

I wish these people would've came to me with these freakin questions!! I woulda told em like it is!
No to Frank Miller!! You have Zack Snyder!!!! He's absolutely PERFECT for this job! Get a great script and WHALA!! A $2BILLION MOVIE!!

Stay away from Frank.

Oh & stop riding Noland's ish!! GAWWD!! DC is like a clingy little school girl when it comes to that guy!!
Preston - 9/25/2012, 7:37 AM

Without Christopher Nolan directing and if he served as a producer, would that placate fans?

No, keep him away. Nolan appeals to Nolanites. Most 'true to the grit' DC Fans want him as far away from DC comic properties as possible. In fact, I would venture to say that most Nolanites care very little about DC properties, they just care about Nolan's vision. As a hardcore fan (of the comic), we need producers and directors that aren't scared to tackle DC movies from all angles (take a hint from MARVEL and dump the dead-weight).

What fans thought of Aquaman and what roster would fans want for the Justice League?

The story needs to have the Trinity: Batman, Superman (to sell the movie to non-comic-book audiences) and Wonder Woman. Beyond that, they need to craft a story that is quality (has heart) over quantity (tons of explosions and characters). Obviosly having the Legion of Doom in the first movie filled with characters we aren't familiar with would be a bad idea (lack of character development).

What would fan reaction be to a Justice League movie with Frank Miller’s name attached?

They need to to give the directing duties to Brad Bird already. Frank Miller is one of comic-books all time greats, he left a huge imprint on Batman, Wolverine, and Daredevil, but he is best know for his creator-owned stuff. If WB/DC were to tackle The Dark Knight Returns in live action, I would be all for Frank Miller being on-board (it would give it credibility); however, Justice League is not a property that I would link to Frank Miller. I think that it needs a lighter touch than Frank Miller can give.

the fan pic looks badass

In a couple of days...

DEBUNKED: Frank Miller NOT Involved in JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie After All
Timerider84 - 9/25/2012, 7:40 AM
I think all these rumors about JL are to get WB/DC to say or do something about it and get the ball rolling. Nice try
LMB10 - 9/25/2012, 7:41 AM
That Ant-Man comment makes me happy. They should be worried, Marvel's going to have some GREAT films coming out - I hope DC can slot in some good ones. Man of Steel looks great so far, but I'm still holding out for a Flash movie. Justice League better be good, but I'm not sure about Frank Miller, I just don't feel he'd be the best choice.
DaenerysTargaryen - 9/25/2012, 7:50 AM
Its like every bit of news that is released about this movie makes us rage and rage more.
TheGlove - 9/25/2012, 7:53 AM
God, please no! not Frank Miller!!!!!!!
Jollem - 9/25/2012, 8:02 AM
i'd like to know in what way frank miller would supposedly be involved. miller has been around for awhile and knows d.c.'s characters despite how he would write them in his own stories
