Iron Man 3 Banner

Reports Latino Review, the villainous terrorist group seen in the first Iron Man movie [see below] are set to return in Iron Man 3. In the image below you can make out the symbol for The Ten Rings in the background as the terrorist group reads off a list of demands in exchange for their hostage, Tony Stark. In Iron Man 2, the unnamed man who gave Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) fake documents to enter the US is also thought to be a member of the Ten Rings. The Iron Man 3 crew hat below has the exact same ring logo, indicating what Latino Review believes to be an indication that The Ten Rings will indeed be in the film. No further details yet as to how this relates to Ben Kingsley's Mandarin. Comic book fans will of course know that The Ten Rings are actual rings in the comic books and the source of The Mandarin's powers. Could things be coming full circle for Tony Stark in Iron Man 3?

In the crredits of Iron Man 2 the guy that gives Rourke his papers is listed as ten rings member.
superotherside - 9/25/2012, 7:31 AM
I'm hoping that they don't just kill off Mandarin at the end. He could be saved for one of the members of the Masters of Evil.
marvel72 - 9/25/2012, 7:46 AM
don't expect iron man 3 to make any money in china if they show the mandarin/china in a bad way.

it effected the dark knight,so its bound to effect iron man 3.
TheBeard - 9/25/2012, 7:48 AM
SKRULLSSSSSSSS!!!

Anyway didn't we kinda know this already?
fettastic - 9/25/2012, 7:49 AM
It only makes sense to tie Mandarin into the terrorist group. I'm just hoping and praying for a return to form for Iron Man after teh vomit bowl that was IM2.
jimoakley666 - 9/25/2012, 7:49 AM
Did you accidentally chop a bit out of your article?
justified1 - 9/25/2012, 7:50 AM
Ten Rings. but one to rule them all.
fettastic - 9/25/2012, 7:51 AM
Good point dgabbor. He probably won't even be called The Mandarin in the film and I'm sure he will be given an arab background because they are the new boogeymen. Ben Kingsley doesn't exactly look Chinese.
Valandil - 9/25/2012, 8:09 AM
OMG! It's the redacted!
Jollem - 9/25/2012, 8:09 AM
wasn't this a given?

i got a scoop. tony stark will make with the one-liners. just maybe

StarkAnthony - 9/25/2012, 8:12 AM
I'm hoping that the success of the Avengers might mean that they can actually use the magic rings as super alien tech!
TheAbomination - 9/25/2012, 8:14 AM
Can't say we didn't see this coming. Ten rings + the Mandarin? It was kind of obvious.
rbfn04 - 9/25/2012, 8:23 AM
Redacted strikes again!!!!!!
PantherX - 9/25/2012, 8:25 AM
Mind. Officially. Blown. >.>
dezdigi - 9/25/2012, 8:26 AM
No. Sh#t.
Dedpool - 9/25/2012, 8:26 AM
Makes sense with mandarin being in this. I do like how they seem to be trully turning this into an espionage, militray like thriller. Also has shades of Armor Wars to it.
xNightwingx - 9/25/2012, 8:27 AM
Weren't "The Redacted" the aliens from The Avengers?
rbfn04 - 9/25/2012, 8:28 AM
@xNightwingx that's why I said he strikes again, good sir.
NostalgicYouth - 9/25/2012, 8:32 AM
Well that was obvious, but just waiting for that image of the Mandarin.
RedSkull667 - 9/25/2012, 8:34 AM
Batman Begins = League of Shadows = The Dark Knight Rises

Iron Man = The Ten Rings = Iron Man 3

:D
OdinsBeard - 9/25/2012, 8:35 AM
i hope they reveal that the rings that Hammer and Stane and Raza (?) wore were part of those 10 and now The Mandarin has collected them.
KaneVonDoom - 9/25/2012, 8:41 AM
Are people still having a hard time with the concept and definition of the word Redacted?... -_-
xNightwingx - 9/25/2012, 8:46 AM
@KaneVonDoom I was joking.
GetsugaTensho22 - 9/25/2012, 8:47 AM
OMG THE REDACTED! :o THEY WERE THE ALIENS IN AVENGERS!!!!

just kidding people.
third3ye - 9/25/2012, 8:55 AM
Mandarin means 10 Rings will be involved, not really a big shocker here.
thewonderer - 9/25/2012, 8:57 AM
Anyone have a stable list of the whole cast and characters in this movie. More isn't better
StrangerX - 9/25/2012, 8:57 AM
Back on *The Redacted* shit again LMAO

Spidex3000 - 9/25/2012, 8:58 AM
Well, the ten rings in the first movie were middle eastern, so I think it's safe to say that Ben Kingsley will be also. Makes sense considering that the mandarin was pretty much only chinese for political commentary, just like IM
siggisuperman - 9/25/2012, 9:07 AM
hope im gonna see a trailer at comic con
siggisuperman - 9/25/2012, 9:08 AM
I think Redacted were a race of cosmic god-creatures who lived on jupiter.
DrHorrible - 9/25/2012, 9:11 AM
niknik - 9/25/2012, 9:15 AM
"Mandarin" by definition is Chinese so I don't know how they could have him in the story without referencing his ties to China? As far as I'm concerned they should just screw the overly politically correct BS and have him be of Chinese origin. That doesn't automatically mean he must be portrayed like Charlie Chan from the 30's.
ACira - 9/25/2012, 9:33 AM
@Marvel72 The film is being co-produced by the Chinese, which is why The Mandarin isn't actually being portrayed by a Chinese actor, and why there are a few Asian supporting actors in the cast. The talk of The Mandarin being a terrorist organisation led by Ben Kingsley's character, the character being the analogue to the comic book Mandarin, is one theory of how the film is working to not offend China.

I think it's more likely that the terrorist organisation is The Ten Rings, and that Ben Kingsley actually plays the character called The Mandarin, because it just fits together better. I'm not sure how they could work The Mandarin title into it without the Chinese connotations, but I'm sure they could figure out a way.

Besides, I'm not sure why China is so touchy about this stuff. I mean, it's not like they're saying the whole of China is evil. They're saying that the villain happens to be Chinese. I mean, look at how many British and American villains there are in films? If anyone should start to feel a bit touchy about villainous stereotyping, it would be Russia, but even that seems to be dying down now.
jimpinto24 - 9/25/2012, 9:58 AM
I'm all for it! Ten Rings have ties with The Mandarin (Who will be a great villian for IM3)
Fogs - 9/25/2012, 10:22 AM
Well, this was already expected.

By the way there's a mistaken info on the article. The fake papers were for Vanko to get to Monaco, not US.
VonArndt - 9/25/2012, 10:23 AM
I remember watching Iron Man and thinking how it was clever to make Mandarins Ten Rings as some sort of terrorist group since "magical alien rings" didnt really fit in with the realistic nature of the film. But now with the start of Phase 2, those "magical alien rings" don't look all that far fetched in the MCU. I'm interested to see the true power of the Mandarin on film
SageMode - 9/25/2012, 10:30 AM
VONARNDT

You do know that the rings in the comics are alien tech-based, not magical,, right?
IgnurRant - 9/25/2012, 10:40 AM
They should have been in IM2, instead of that silly half baked plot. Have they even addressed the fact that the guy who practically raised him tried to kill him. TWICE!

FightmasterNoel - 9/25/2012, 10:41 AM
This movie sounds exciting as theres not gonna be a connection to avengers in it. I think avengers is the best superhero flm of all time (so far) but taking a break from that hype will be fun. Cause fanboys can see IM shine without his awesome teamates. its like readin a solo comic after an EPIC team comicbook. But its movies.however i hear CAPS movie is actually the one with the most connection to avengers.
DEATHbyEXILE - 9/25/2012, 10:42 AM
RamonSuarez - 9/25/2012, 10:49 AM
Why do people continue to comment on the Mandarin's powers if they don't even understand that he is a tech based and not a magically based villain?
Fogs - 9/25/2012, 10:55 AM
@IgnurRant - that video would be funnier if I wasn't refuting almost every statement with a logic explanation while watching it.
AnotherSinisterClone - 9/25/2012, 11:12 AM
so theyre are using Batman's formula of making the last one about the 1st one? hope they include the 2nd one into the grand scheme of things.
MyInnerDork - 9/25/2012, 11:16 AM
Wasn't this obvious since the Mandarin is in IM3? Not really a spoiler if you ask me.
RobLiefeldFan - 9/25/2012, 11:17 AM
@ACira you must be an American and you must also be afool I'm sure if china makes a movie about them being heroes and Americans being Villians you'll jump of you seat and punck your PC, Think Before you talk and don't make lousy comments
Fogs - 9/25/2012, 11:21 AM
@AnotherSinisterClone - because they're writing the script after the TDKR launch. Oh boy...

This is like people who said the bomb in the end of TDKR was just a ripoff of the Avengers' one.
DioFoRio - 9/25/2012, 11:53 AM
didn't see Mandarins henchmen appearing in this movie. I'll believe it when I see it
Optimus83 - 9/25/2012, 11:58 AM
Ben Kingsley is the Mandarin. ...
VonArndt - 9/25/2012, 12:18 PM
SAGEMODE

don't care
Ha1frican - 9/25/2012, 12:35 PM
I hope they go the more armored route like that cartoon did for Mandarin. It shouldnt be a tech suit but the armored look is way better IMO
