NOVA Clue Dropped In Marvel Comics Premier Hardcover Restructure?

Sometimes there's an unintentional kernel of knowledge that can be gleaned from a seemingly minor tidbit of information. Case in point, a shift in Marvel's Premier Hardcover strategy could offer a clue to Guardians of the Galaxy and Phase II of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Chalk this up as a RUMOR at the moment but it does appear to be a tell-tale sign that Nova will be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news come by way of Diamond Distributor who interviewed Marvel Senior Vice-President of Sales David Gabriel on their downsizing of the Premier Hardcover line. Downsizing to what you say? Downsizing to only titles that figure prominently into the Marvel Cinematic Universe Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, Uncanny Avengers, and Indestructible Hulk (with a couple of sensible exceptions like All New X-Men and Daredevil). What stands out on that list? Its Nova of course!

Basically Marvel is downsizing the line to only focus on characters that are receiving the movie treatment aside from popular characters like X-Men. Odds are that unless you're in the know when it comes to Marvel cosmic lore, you probably only the vaguest idea concerning Nova and the Nova Corps. He's a character that you wouldn't include alongside Iron Man, Captain America and Thor in a downsizing effort unless he's about to receive the cinematic treatment himself. He would be right at home in the Guardians of the Galaxy (Gotg) film. This seems plausible and more concrete than some of the more wackier rumors based on a 'mystery source' that have been making the rounds lately. Sound off below with your thoughts and opinions as per the norm.

On another Gotg roster note, there was this tweet from director James Gunn a few days back that definitely teases a certain K-9 cosmonaut.

Sounds like your jumping to conclusions. Antman and Dr Strange are also about to get their own movies, and they are not featured in a hardcover comic.

Please let there be a nova centurion in that movie..hopefully Rhomann Dey who cameos and then all of a sudden is called back to xandar which is being attacked the Warlord Zorr.

@vanillacyke I hope to the one above all they dont do that. That would like the biggest mistake marvel studios could do and i dont think kevin feige is that stupid to allow that to happen. Only if one us became the director of a solo nova movie.

Bring on Nova, and Cosmo! Although I'd say introduce the Nova Corp and then do a Nova film after Avengers 2 then build up to a Defenders film with Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, and another Hulk movie.

KamenRiderJ22 I'm pretty sure Adam Warlock will be in it. Seriously if you have Thanos you have to have Adam. Keep fingers crossed though! :)

@superotherside i agree with what u just said 100% especially with you adam warlock statement. The history of Adam Warlock and Thanos are intertwined to deeply you cant have thanos and not have adam warlock in a movie.

I doubt they would skip over the original guy who was Nova to begin with. I really do think, if Nova does appear, it'll be Rich Rider in the costume.

Future appearance of Nova in a movie would be cool.

I really wish Disney would buy F4 back. In a way I kinda understand. The rights revert in 2014, so I guess they rather wait it out. Now, F4 has a director but look what happened with DD at FOX.

I'm hella cool with nova being apart of the MCU. I'm thinking its about time Marvel starts separating its pmovies from Avengers. Going forward regular moviegoers will think every movie Marvel makes will be part of a larger movie event.

In fact, he have five of this arc-reactor-like circles, three on his chest and two on each hand. Maybe if you see it as a whole you'll see that actually it doesn't resembles Iron Man's arc reactor that much ...

As I said before, the concept art from SDCC features the Nova centurion emblem in the background. Kinda look like star-like ships, but I can't help but thinking its a huge nod to Nova featuring in the film

when the announcement of the secret marvel film was going to be guardians of the galaxy, like everyone else i was pissed off and cursed this movie because guardians really have nothing to do with the avengers and us fans wanted a solo film for a new avenger character that would be recruited in avengers 2 (ant-man, black panther, or doctor strange). this news gives me the chills because i said this a long time ago when the guardians film was announced, if the guardians film added nova, ms. marvel and the kree empire, the guardians film would INSTANTLY be a worthy entry into the avenger saga. let face it nobody gives a shit about the guardians team. if nova and ms. marvel are in it, this movie becomes a must see. i hope these rumors are true

@smartell511 1. i wasnt pissed at all when i heard there annoucment for making the GOTG movie instead i was hysterically excited lol. 2. doc strange even if he was a part of phase 2 most likely wouldnt be in the avengers sequel. 3. why does any movie have to have something to do with the avengers? The MCU isnt meant to be avengers - centric. 4. i give and i suppose quite a few more ppl here on this site give a sht about the GOTG.
However your spot-on about if the nova coorps or the kree empire made an appearance the movie would be even more awesome. XD

Nova, Cosmo in GOTG! WOW! this movie is gonna be a classic and i think they will make another. I would like to see Richard Rider fighting the Skrulls and Ronan the Accuser. EPIC movie. Even though Rocket Racoon doesn't like Cosmo, that in itself is gonna be hilarious and might bring some humor to the film. Can't wait 2014

So this where the pic comes from. Thought it looked familiar. How much you wanna bet James Gunn saw this pic while surfing io9 last week just like I did? And a quick google search shows me vonspears is his cute little puppy Dr. Wesley Von Spears. Not too sure we can count on seeing a telepathic dog or Nova in the MCU just yet.

Cool stuff, definitely a bit more solid than the stuff we've been hearing. I hope GOTG doesn't tie into the Avengers. It's boss if they encounter Thanos but I want them to remain separate as it'll show the Avengers definitely are not alone and just how massive Marvel's (cinematic) universe is.

@aztecRaingod: I prefer her old look but what I'd like to see on screen is her new costume with long hair. I hate that haircut and she's powerful enough to get away with having long tresses in a fight.

I never did follow Thor and GOTG as a comic but when the Thor came out as a movie it made me a huge fan. Now, with GOTG I have a feeling that it will make me a huge fan as well. Really looking forward to this one!
