By Mark Julian - 12/13/2012

When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes—a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)—who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Mouthwatering. Made me excited about a possible live-action Voltron or Robotech movie.
Durf - 12/13/2012, 1:47 PM
Words can't describe just how excited I am for this movie!

No whiny sissified garbage. ✓
Giant Robots. ✓
Giant Monsters. ✓
Arse Kicking. ✓
Guillermo del Torro. ✓
No emo music for TwilightTards. ✓

This is a must see.

Now, if we can get him to direct the BATMAN reboot, everything would be right with the universe.

There is no better director to make it happen. Plus, he'll have tons of monsters to play with.

Jollem - 12/13/2012, 2:15 PM
@Durf6199 - it made me giggle also :)

@MrEko - diggin' the joe cool pic. on a somewhat related note, i don't know how i feel about this snoop lion deal. it doesn't roll off the tongue as well as snoop dogg
Jollem - 12/13/2012, 2:18 PM
@Preston - i think it will be hard to top what chris nolan has done for the batman, but gdt has skills :)
Preston - 12/13/2012, 2:47 PM
@Jollem and Nomis

Del Torro's visionary style would bring BATMAN (from the comic) to life; I know that neither of you cares too much for that, and that's why I disagree with both of you about 99.9999999% of the time. Therefore, I’ve learned not to give either one of your posts a second thought.

So, with that said, I do find your attempts at communicating with me [regularly] quite humorous:

@teabag

Voltron was never popular over here in the UK
Nick56 - 12/13/2012, 3:17 PM
Seriously? It looks like shit.
darkbeefstakes - 12/13/2012, 3:18 PM
I do not see what is so excitign about this movie. It looks like a live action power rangers movie with a huge budget. ANd a ton of CGI.
TheSensationalSpiderman - 12/13/2012, 3:19 PM
It was amazing!
neopunch - 12/13/2012, 3:20 PM
@teabag -- your humor never ceases to amaze me lol
neopunch - 12/13/2012, 3:22 PM
darkbeef-- yes laugh now at power rangers, like they did the 60s batman TV series. i bet Del Toro can even make a kickass power rangers movie hehe
jazzman - 12/13/2012, 3:23 PM
@teabag

cause Voltron is camp lol
Jollem - 12/13/2012, 3:25 PM
@Preston - you've got a bit of an ego on you, don't ya? :)

why do you gotta put my name so big? you make me feel like i'm in trouble or something :)

why do you pretend to know what i would like to see in a batman movie? chris nolan and co. gave me an awesome take on the batman from the comics. and if you wanna be so hostile, i will say that most of what comes out of your fingers isn't worth a damn :)

it's nice to know that i can make you happy, tho
charlie2094 - 12/13/2012, 3:32 PM
Looking forward to this. The trailer didn't WOW me as much as it seems to a lot of you guys, but I love GDT's work and the premise, so remain excited and can't wait to see more.

@Nomis

Del Toro on Swamp thing would be amazing! Can't really think of anyone else as fitting as Toro for that project. Same with Batman, he could really bring to life the grittiness of Gotham mixed with his amazing rogues gallery, without toning them down. A reboot in the style (not following the story) of the recent Arkham games and the Arkham Asylum novel, would be absolutely incredible on screen. Always liked how in the Asylum novel, they all felt like genuinely messed up, scary villains.

idris elba saying

Jollem - 12/13/2012, 3:42 PM
@tea - lol. i didn't see what you wrote to me. the lady berries distracted me :)
EternalSight - 12/13/2012, 3:50 PM
wow. looks horrible.

plus nothing will ever beat Robot Jox...
Greengo - 12/13/2012, 3:53 PM
Damn skippy Trudes

It must happen.
pud333 - 12/13/2012, 4:07 PM
I am surprised. I was excited for this movie, but the trailer was... I don't know. I guess I expected something different. I'll still see this just because it is Del Torro
graveyardtramp - 12/13/2012, 4:09 PM
This movie sounded great in theory but seeing the trailer with all that awful dialogue has me thinking this will be no better than Godzilla 98 - with added Transformers.
ahhmynuts - 12/13/2012, 4:49 PM
this looks awesome but why cant they make a Halo movie?!? this movie visually looks pretty damn close.
RedBaron2814 - 12/13/2012, 5:03 PM
Good mother of God, this looks awesome.
BIGBMH - 12/13/2012, 5:08 PM
I'd love to do experiment with this trailer. Show 50 people the trailer as is. Then show another 50 the same trailer, only replace the name "Guillermo Del Torro" with "Michael Bay." I can almost guarantee the second group's reaction would be more like
"Oh great. More mindless giant robot action."
"Looks like Bay really wanted to do a Transformers crossover with Clash of the Titans."
Ranger14 - 12/13/2012, 5:41 PM
Can't say I am blown away. Looks alright and I am on the fence as to whether it is a theater or Netflix view for me.

When did the members of this site descend to calling anyone who gives a skeptical or negative opinion about a film a "hater". I just don't get it. Wasn't that way 2-3 years ago. Guess I just answered my question. :-P
AmazingFantasy - 12/13/2012, 6:48 PM
Someone please tell me Trudy is losing his shit over, looks dope.

And Giant Robots vs Giant Monsters is just... Too... YOU CAN'T EVEN GODDAMIT.
RyGoR - 12/13/2012, 8:51 PM
Can't...stop....jacking...off..to..this...trailer.....this and MOS trailers in one week...can't stop the awesomeness....ERMAGAWWWD hahaha
Ranger14 - 12/13/2012, 9:03 PM
Kamen@ Well, we don't see eye to eye on that. Just because one isn't interested in a film after seeing a trailer because they think it looks crappy doesn't make them a hater. It just means they aren't interested in that specific film. If I were to use the logic that I can't establish whether a film is going to be crappy without actually going and seeing it, then I should have went to all the Twilight films, The Smurfs and a long list of all the other movies I didn't see because they looked crappy. ;-)
Stumblin - 12/14/2012, 7:20 AM
Robo Jox is my JAM
pepe - 12/14/2012, 7:30 AM
The trailer looks fanmade... No thanx!
aztecRaingod - 12/14/2012, 9:51 AM
Voltron would [frick]in PWN !
GrayMatter - 12/14/2012, 10:08 AM
Thank you Michael Bay. Thanks to your being a failure of a storyteller, you have given birth an entire demographic of haters who will hate on anything that has giant robots in it, regardless of the fact that a proven storyteller and director is the one behind it.

AlexDeLarge87 - 12/14/2012, 12:06 PM
Can i dig?... YES I CAAAAAN!:D
AlexDeLarge87 - 12/14/2012, 12:09 PM
The Effects seemed little bit unfinished but im sure they are still gonna do polishing to make it look even more realistic.
