Below, is the timeline on the development of the Hulk television show from director Guillermo del Toro, David Eick and Jeph Loeb. Recently, The Playlist had a minor update from del Toro that you can read at the end.

October 2010 - Gullermo del Toro's rumored interest first reported

November 2010 - The news was confirmed by Deadline

June 2011 - del Toro confirms that an outline was turned in to ABC in May

July 2011 - del Toro states that he's drawing heavily from the comic books for inspiration for the show and that he's working with Hulk writer and Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb

August 2011 - del Toro reiterates that the television series will have NO connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Paul Lee, Entertainment President for ABC says that they could have a pilot as early as next year.

September 2011 - It's rumored that the Red Hulk or 'Rulk' will be the main antagonist of the show.

October 2011 - Loeb states that the Hulk in the television show will resemble Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in The Avengers 'as much as possible.'

November 2011 - del Toro says he's delivered a screenplay to the network and he knows how he wants to proceed, he's just waiting on a greenlight. Loeb says that Betty is a big part of the show and so is the love story between her and Banner. He also claims that the show WILL BE SET BEFORE the movie and that they'll use make-up and costumes rather than motion-capture and CGI.

May 2012 - Paul Lee (ABC) again says they hope the show will be ready for airwaves next year. Later that month, Marvel's The Avengers is released, Hulk steals the show.

July 2012 - del Toro announces that ABC is looking for a new writer

August 2012 - del Toro announces that a writer has been found and that it's a very recognizable name, however the writer's schedule is currently full and they have to wait for it to clear up. Later this month, a S.H.I.E.L.D. series was announced for pilot by Joss Whedon.

October 2012 - del Toro reveals some skepticism about the project moving forward but says he still wants to direct the pilot if the show moves forward. Later that month, the director says the show is inactive.

November 2012 - del Toro is rumored to helm a Justice League Dark movie for Warner Brothers.

January 2013 - del Toro reveals that the Justice League Dark film, now titled Heaven Sent Dark Universe is currently negotiating with a screenwriter. del Toro reveals that after The Avengers, there's been complete 'radio silence' between himself and Marvel. "I had one more meeting after 'Avengers' with Jeph Loeb from Marvel and he said, 'We're working on it, we're waiting for a writer,' he gave me the name of the writer and their resume and I said, 'That sounds great, let's wait for him' because we had delivered a teleplay and I haven't heard since then." There's currently speculation that the popularity of the Hulk in The Avengers may have killed the chances of the show as the studio may look to try one more time with a Hulk film. Coincidentally, Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot will begin shooting sometime later this month.

So there's the rundown. Things appear to have become murky after the release of The Avengers and it honestly seems unlikely that the show will be moving out of perpetual development anytime soon. It's even more telling that the S.H.I.E.L.D. show, first announced less than 5 months ago, is reportedly shooting its pilot sometime this month. Still, there's always the chance of another movie or at the very least, he could feature heavily in one of the solo films for Captain America, Thor, Iron Man or some other Marvel character.

If it means we're getting a new Hulk film, then f**k it.
Shamo - 1/8/2013, 2:00 PM
Hulks too big of a character for a tv show imo. give a show to a little guy like Moon Knight or Blade. one of the C listers
Rhysno1 - 1/8/2013, 2:01 PM
Del Toro is my ideal director for a future Hulk film. I'd kill to see that on the big screen
WruceBayne - 1/8/2013, 2:05 PM
Other than budget constraints why would you use "make-up and costumes" to portray the Green Goliath? If your not going to attempt to do it right then let this show die and bring on another Hulk movie.
Bandido - 1/8/2013, 2:06 PM
Not trying to sound like an asshole but does anyone REALLY want a hulk TV SHOW? really? GDT is pretty great and all but I don't see this lasting at all
WruceBayne - 1/8/2013, 2:07 PM
I read awhile back that the guy that played Abomination signed a multi movie deal with Marvel. I wonder if that deal is still in place.
superotherside - 1/8/2013, 2:08 PM
Don't do the show then Marvel, just do another film, with Joss Whedon directing!
flannelmandude - 1/8/2013, 2:14 PM
I think if there were to be a tv series, I am very happy there isn't one by the way cause I know it would be horrible, but if there was I think if the show followed the gray hulk as a bouncer in Vegas where he still changes into Bruce Banner during the day and The Hulk at night. That to me would be a better story line than Bruce just changing into the green Hulk all the time and wandering around like the old series, we don't need a repeat of that.
devil - 1/8/2013, 2:16 PM
planet huck movie 2015 not the tv show dont care
marvel72 - 1/8/2013, 2:17 PM
i'd rather $150,000,000 spent on a decent hulk movie than having a low budget tv show.
flannelmandude - 1/8/2013, 2:18 PM
I know this has been asked before but I can't remember what people said, how do you use a gif file for your profile pic?
parkerray - 1/8/2013, 2:27 PM
Why not a TV show? If it has a budget like Game of Thrones and can afford directors like del Toro?
spider1489 - 1/8/2013, 2:30 PM
HULK FILM! F*^% YES!
Bread - 1/8/2013, 2:31 PM
If Whedon and Ruffalo do a Hulk movie, it would be LEGEN-waitforit-DARY!
TheMightyTroy - 1/8/2013, 2:47 PM
Screw a Hulk TV show! Give us more Hulk movies!! The Hulk on tv was good back in the 70s & 80s but now I think it would be silly and a bit of a waste to have such an amazing character on tv. A new film series with Ruffalo and the visual affects used in the avengers would be awesome.
Nick56 - 1/8/2013, 2:49 PM
Would like a Hulk tv show more than a SHIELD show.
Maximus101 - 1/8/2013, 2:56 PM
Not sure why we need another hulk film, the incredible hulk was a decent movie I thought and norton played a fantastic banner.
Starjammer - 1/8/2013, 2:58 PM
Hulk Movie May 2016, Whedon producing, Drew Goddard writing/directing!
Mrcool210 - 1/8/2013, 3:01 PM
loebs choosing the writer? GREEEEEAAAAT, im so pumped -_-, [frick] him,
Greengo - 1/8/2013, 3:14 PM
Oh well.
ATrueHero1987 - 1/8/2013, 3:29 PM
Whedon should at least write the script for TIH sequel. Marvel, GIVE US THE MOVIE WE DESERVE.
MJPETTY7 - 1/8/2013, 3:30 PM
Dark Universe could be very good...
DukeAcureds - 1/8/2013, 3:32 PM
I'd have to say Dark Universe first (dive right in and don't stop, we need this film!),
Whilsrt shit is getting ready, shop ATMOM around and arrange it for directly after Dark Universe (with a month off for recuperation and prep),
Then ATMOM, then Hellboy 3 and then, whatever else! So many films to do, Del Toro. Just keep going! He's been held back enough on The Hobbit!
Ha1frican - 1/8/2013, 3:44 PM
I would like a TIH sequel, brng back everyone from the first (except Norton of course) and maybe have itbe about Red Hulk? If they used the performance capture from avengers Hulk on the guy who played Ross (or a brief cameo by a remodeled Abomination) would be sick. Maybe even She-Hulk, IM 2 and Cap 2 both feature side kicks of some sort, that could be an interesting dynamic to explore with the Hulk and could help to break up the somewhat formulaic nature of him transforming midway through the movie agains his will and then again at the end for the greater good from both TI and Avengers (still love it dnt get me wrong) IDK i just want another film whatever the hell it ends up being just GIVE IT TO ME
Ha1frican - 1/8/2013, 3:46 PM
What is this Dark Universe thing? I havent heard anything on it
iuhgluiblbjjkhkjhkljh - 1/8/2013, 3:57 PM
Heaven Sent was a way better title, but I guess WB had to [frick] up somehow. Looks like del Toro is distancing himself from Marvel, good...gooooooood.
Illcommunicatione - 1/8/2013, 4:00 PM
What's with all the Hulkkake shots?
LAXtremest - 1/8/2013, 4:18 PM
Can someone explain what Justice League Dark is?
DukeAcureds - 1/8/2013, 4:39 PM
LAXtremest@ It's a team book in DC's The New 52 line, featuring Vertigo characters. It's Vertigo-Lite.
Hopefully Del Toro will be drawing his inspiration from the Vertigo books, instead of Justice League Dark, though.
This actually combines a whole bunch of projects that Del Toro's been trying to do. Among them, Deadman, Mnemowhatsit (Vertigo book) and Neil Gaiman's Death - The High Cost of Living. This is why I'm pretty sure that Neil Gaiman is writing Dark Universe and the character he didn't want to mention was Death.
DukeAcureds - 1/8/2013, 4:41 PM
Maybe he should do a similar thing with Marvel, seen as though he's been previously attached to Thor, Dr. Strange and Hulk. An Avengers sequel, maybe?
TheMadman - 1/8/2013, 6:13 PM
In a perfect world, we'd get both.
MarkV - 1/8/2013, 6:36 PM
We need a Batman TV show.
ThePowerCosmic - 1/8/2013, 7:30 PM
Hulk TV show would suck. There is no way the budget would be big enough to get the results from the Avengers movie. I say just wait for another Hulk movie.
Pharaoh - 1/8/2013, 7:54 PM
HULK movie should 100% happen and it should start filming soon for a late 2014 release and have Peter David write the script for it. How you gonna give every major character another solo flick but leave out the character who actually stole the show?

It's not like they can't afford it, it's not like it won't make double it's budget, it's not like there's a shortage of stories for him, it's not like they haven't got Ruffalo signed on for a 5 picture deal

Prediction 1: HULK will be film 1 or 2 depending on which comes first hulk or Ant Manof Phase 3 maybe even planet HULK I'd he tears shit up in Avengers 2

Prediction 2: Iron Man won't have a solo film in Phase 3 only cameo's & Thor & Caps trilogies will be completed

Prediction 3: HULK will not be present in Avengers 3 due to being exiled leaving open screen time for Giant Man & Wasp

Prediction 4: end of credits scene in Avengers 3 HULK returns and thus "World War HULK" is Phase 4

MitchConner - 1/8/2013, 9:36 PM
Sorry, a shield slow is just Joss and the studio in the weeds with wishful thinking...focus on the movies...the shield show will fail...don't do it...you are in the weeds!
mgeoff88 - 1/9/2013, 12:08 AM
It sounds like Marvel isn't in a big rush to get the TV show going.

I would love to see a new Hulk movie!

@WesleyGibson I know you were trying to help someone else, but that website helped me out.

Before my Photoshop trial expired, I would use it to resize pictures for my avatars. I've had to use Paint since then, which sucks, so thanks for that link. :)
Lockjaw - 1/9/2013, 2:52 AM

If MARVEL want to do a tv show then stick to stuff like SHIELD not their A-list characters. I think thats what happened to the HULK he became A-list again after the Avengers.

I would love to see MARVEL do tv shows for people like Daredevil, Punisher, Heroes for Hire though...

Christuffer - 1/9/2013, 4:18 AM
@devil - Fail
laughterman26 - 1/9/2013, 5:19 AM

Gus - 1/9/2013, 6:30 AM
I now try not to get excited about what Guillermo del Toro says. He hasn't followed through with very much lately.
