Obsidian Entertainment CEO Feargus Urquhart has revealed that he was pitching a new Star Wars RPG video game to LucasArt and that he's now pitching the same game to Disney since their acquisition. “I would say it’s within the top three pitches we’ve ever come up with,” said Urquhart.

But don't expect a sequel to Knights of the Old Republic. Instead, the game is said to be set between Episode III and Episode IV. "We pitched a between-Episode III and Episode IV game [to LucasArts]. Because we think that timeframe is super interesting. It’s the fall of the Republic, the extermination of the Jedi, it’s Obi-Wan going off and making sure Luke is OK. You have the Sith, but you have the extermination of all Force users except for very, very few. So it was an interesting time to set a game, and you know, Chris Avellone came up with a really cool story,” Urquhart exclaimed.

LucasArt was very high on the pitch but since the acquisition by Disney, Obsidian has opted to let the fire cool before approaching the House of Mouse. "We really worked on it hard and distilled it down to these eight or ten pages that really sold the story and characters. Then we sold it off to LucasArts and got a call back later that day. They were like, ‘This seems really cool. We want to talk to you guys, like, tomorrow about it.’ We haven’t [talked with Disney yet]. We’re kind of waiting for the smoke to clear. But that’s one of my next big things to do. To kind of go over there and [get the ball rolling again]," the CEO shared.

The main problem with that plan is the force unleashed...it takes place in that 20 year span between III and IV and it will be hard to shake off when this is done....i am personally all for it but i would prefer a third KOTOR game.

The Old Republic is the third KOTOR game unfortunately, this is pretty cool news to hear, this and the bounty hunter game they are working on should make up for the Old Republic by alot.

Forced Unleashed 3 should be made at some point, as the story has yet to be resolved, and the gameplay was pretty fun too - the only real problem with Force Unleashed 2 was how short the game was.

Also, that Star Wars 1313 game that's been in development for a while looks incredible.

They seriously should have Bethesda make a Star Wars open world game like skyrim it'd be perfect
HULK2099 - 2/10/2013, 8:22 AM
If it plays like Skyrim that will be so epic

I agree with battlefront 3 but both would be cool now that Disney owns it I'm sure they can make battlefront 3 they should do it call of duty style and with a sick campaign @SuspenseSmith

I want a sequel to Republic Commando. Like, BADLY. It's one of the best Star Wars games I've ever played. They need to do Imperial Commando like they were going to do, and have it of course be set between episode 3 and 4. It follows Delta Squad as they are made into Imperials after the fall of the Jedi. They go on secret behind the scenes missions for Darth Vader; some of which involve hunting down and either capturing, or killing Jedi. Also in the mix of missions is a story arc about them trying to find Sev. We need closure on that in the game.

In addition: the missions have to be longer, and there needs to be more of them. All of the weapons and combat systems need a major upgrade. Everything in general needs to be more bad ass.

PLEASE DISNEY/LUCASART, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Please?

it will be just like fallout/skyrim with starwars characters and worlds - pretty awesome if you ask me. As long as I can decapitate storm troopers and turn sith into sushi.

@Wingding

Hell yes to a sequal to Republic Commando as it was an awesome shooter, the novels based on them are really good too as they get a new guy they all hate.

We need Force Unleashed 3! It's dumb if they never do it because then there's this massive cliffhanger at the end that supposedly leads into Episode 4? Yeah that really doesn't fit. I have been wanting and RPG set in this time period for so long! I really hope it gets made! If they made it similar to Skyrim/Fallout with the new Unreal 4 Engine then I will die a happy man. Obsidian has experience will Fallout: New Vegas, which is my favorite fallout so far, so I know they can create a quality product.
marvel72 - 2/10/2013, 11:42 AM
might be good, they should do a game in the style of mass effect.
JacksonVegaIII - 2/10/2013, 11:59 AM
If they sorted the gameplay made it closer to a third person sandbox game like, GTA or Red Dead Redemption but with lightsabers and millenium Falcons I'd be all about the RPG's but as it stands now I think they are crapity crap crap crapity crap, Fallouts gameplay was so rubbish it blows my mind how they sold more than a dozen.
AlexDeLarge87 - 2/10/2013, 12:24 PM
I think Dragon Age 2 is a good example how they should make this game. You could control team of Jedis, Bounty Hunters or Siths.

Cant wait Star Wars 1313.

ULTIMATE MARVEL VS DISNEY VS STAR WARS VS ESPN VS CAPCOM

Magneto/Captain Hook from Once Upon a Time/Boba Fett

vs

Wesker/Kobe Bryant/Kermit D. Frog

Spectre94 - 2/10/2013, 3:35 PM
Awesome! I love the KOTOR series and cannot wait!
TexasTwoFace - 2/10/2013, 9:40 PM
I'm all for it. I probably love Star Wars games more than I do the movies. In addition to this I would love a new Rogue Squadron game and Battlefront 3. A game where you play as Boba Fett would be cool too or a game where you play as Han Solo during his smuggling days. Get to it Disney, I know you want to make as much money as you can from this investment of yours.
