In the latest issue of Total Film magazine there's interviews with the stars of G.I.Joe: Retaliation and info on the some of the film's key scenes. Below, you can read a few excerpts from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Ray Stevenson and director Jon M. Chu.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on the difference between previous G.I.Joe director Stephen Sommers and Jon Chu.

"Stephen Sommers is really successful at what he does, that's a particular tone that he had and some people love it. I tend to gravitate towards a more reality-based feeling. When Jon M. Chu first came in, that was the first thin he said: 'I gotta make it more reality-based.'

Ray Stevenson discusses his villainous character, Firefly.

"Firefly is ex-Joe, a pyrotechnics expert who decided it'd be more fun on the other side He's kind of homicidal - it's all a bit of a joke to him, blowing up cities."

Director Jon M. Chu on why he wanted to make a G.I. Joe film.

"We don't have laser guns in this, we have physical fights. I wanted to make the G.I. Joe I dreamed of growing up, making it a little bit dirtier, feeling the scratches, feeling the punches. And also asking the question, 'What does it mean to be a hero in this day and age?"

There's much more inside the issue including words from Dwayne Johnson, Adrianne Palicki and Elodie Yung. There's also some interesting bits about Bruce Willis and some of the improvisation he came up with during his time on set. G.I. Joe: Retaliation hits U.S. theaters March 29, 2013.

Hopefully the movie is good. Am I the only who kinda liked the film!?!?! It was a no brainer action film to me
AraxisHT - 2/17/2013, 11:02 AM
The answer is "Nope, it will flop."
thewonderer - 2/17/2013, 11:03 AM
People need to do their research on whose writing this film.
WruceBayne - 2/17/2013, 11:08 AM
@niklander- I like the first one. It was a no brainer action movie with real life iterations of your childhood heroes. I wasn't expecting the Bourne franchise, I was expecting a live action over the top cartoon and they delivered.
KeefNCookies - 2/17/2013, 11:11 AM
I liked the first one, but I dont care about the franchise as a whole so I may like the second one, but I wont care if I dont.
AlexDeLarge87 - 2/17/2013, 11:14 AM
The movie has right style what i´ve seen from it. Too little characters thou. I´ve always seen G.I. Joe as world war 3 movie.
breakUbatman - 2/17/2013, 11:16 AM
Personally didn't like the first one, it was too cartoony - yes it's based off action figures but come on. Only good things were Stormshadow, Snake Eyes and Zartan.

Hopefully this new direction won't dissapoint like Wrath of the Titans
TheSuperguy - 2/17/2013, 11:17 AM
If it's anything like the first one, no, it won't strike a chord with audiences.
RPD - 2/17/2013, 11:18 AM
It will with me...
TheAbomination - 2/17/2013, 11:25 AM
I'm still undecided about this movie, but I'm also starting to think it's gonna suck ass.
IronHood - 2/17/2013, 11:28 AM
Have hope people. Or you all just a bunch of negative downers? I'm sure the studio was msart enough to know how bad the first one was, even though, I for the most part enjoyed it? Sure I saw all it's flaws but I take these movies for what they are inteded to be. A good time. THATS IT! I don't know what's up everyone else's ass as to why there so negative about movies like these.

@Yossarian, I forsee the same thing for you. Seriously, your not a psychic wait till opening day. So zip your lid now.
ManofSteel23 - 2/17/2013, 11:30 AM
I would love for it to flop, just because they delayed it a year just to put 3d in,greedy bastards
AlexDeLarge87 - 2/17/2013, 11:31 AM
Cobra destroying and conquering cities. Joes fighting back the best they can.

Two of the memorable moments from the comics which has stayed in my head is Cobra Commander´s temporary hideout in half destroyed Empire State Building and Cobra Citadel in Carpathia.
cartman87 - 2/17/2013, 11:53 AM
No laser guns . The G.I.Joe I remember as a kid had laser guns . People say the first one was too cartoony . Well it was based on a cartoon .
animeex - 2/17/2013, 11:56 AM
I agree cartman87. I actually liked the first one. Yes... There could have been many changes for the better but I enjoyed it. I still think it looks a "Rock" movie and hate that Willis is in it. I will wait to hear what is said and I do love Snake Eyes! They had to have him.
supermarioworldE - 2/17/2013, 11:59 AM
They had tons of reshoots and pushed the release date back a whole year.

When has this ever been a good sign?
marvel72 - 2/17/2013, 12:05 PM
not really interested in this movie,it does look better than the first movie but the bar wasn't really raised that high.

probably watch on download or dvd.
sciencefriction - 2/17/2013, 12:19 PM
All that matters is the toys, this is still just a toy commercial for Hasbro who are trying to save their toy line.
Ocelot - 2/17/2013, 12:50 PM
if rubbish movies like hansel and gretel and die hard 5 are making money, I dont see why this movie cant, the movie may suck but it will do decent at the box office, probably make something around 400 mill
WYLEEJAY - 2/17/2013, 12:51 PM
Me and my son had fun with the first one. We are gonna give it a shot.
ChemicalGhost - 2/17/2013, 12:57 PM
I don't see this turning out different than any of the Transformers movies
ruadh - 2/17/2013, 1:04 PM
"They had tons of reshoots and pushed the release date back a whole year.

When has this ever been a good sign?"

Eh...Supposedly they didn't reshoot, but assuming that's a lie...how about Lord of the Rings?

If the movie didn't work with the scenes they'd shot, would you prefer they release it anyway? Or make it better?
RyGoR - 2/17/2013, 1:08 PM
I'll probably get baked and see this lol anyone else agree with me?? :P
Tevii - 2/17/2013, 1:16 PM
The delay in its releas day will cause it to flop. It had momentum when the first trailer was released, but now interest is gone
beane2099 - 2/17/2013, 1:19 PM
If this does anything at all, it'll be because of the Rock. It's a shame. If they had been able to build this up as The Rock and Tatum with Bruce Willis, I think this would be getting better buzz. But right now, unless they really dazzle with a new trailer, I think it's going to end up mediocre.

I still contend that this should have been the franchise Michael Bay handled. Think about it. The only watchable parts of Transformers are the military scenes. He'd make a sick JOE flick for sure.
Wildaniel - 2/17/2013, 1:22 PM
This movie will be good, cant wait!
Superior - 2/17/2013, 1:39 PM
@ATastyBurger, if that was sarcasm then this comment doesn't exist.
The film got delayed for supposedly 3D Conversion and maybe filming extra scenes.
TheBaroness89 - 2/17/2013, 1:50 PM
I think it will be a fun movie- not boring but not earth shattering. It cant be worse than the first....wait Ghost Rider SOV...ummm....fingers crossed Joes.
XavierLehnsherr - 2/17/2013, 2:33 PM
Like this director's Fast and Furious movie, Tokyo Drift, it will be forgotten.
Sanderman - 2/17/2013, 2:40 PM
i was interested until they delayed it for a 3-D conversion..Pass
Visualiza - 2/17/2013, 2:43 PM
^Pretty sure that was Justin Lin.
GUNSMITH - 2/17/2013, 3:02 PM
IT LOOKS BETTER HONESTLY. I'LL GIVE IT A TRY
marvel72 - 2/17/2013, 3:05 PM
they changed the date because it was due for release the same weekend as the dark knight rises & they thought as well about the extra dollar the film would get being 3D.
Carl - 2/17/2013, 3:06 PM
They reshot scenes to keep Duke alive, Channing Tatum had a career turn around.
HeadPool420 - 2/17/2013, 3:07 PM
For me the first one had both good and bad moments, sadly more bad. I hope this one has more good then bad. Then maybe if they make a third one all the bugs will be out and we will get a good GI Joe!
marvel72 - 2/17/2013, 3:14 PM
g.i joe retaliation was due 29.6.12 they changed the date because of the release of amazing spider-man(3.7.12) & the dark knight rises(20.7.12).

they knew about the second week drop & they couldn't risk it against those massive block busters.
flames809 - 2/17/2013, 3:15 PM
Movie wont flop.. The first didn't flop. Lots of people liked the first film, and are waiting for this one. With the rock, willis and channing loys of people will go watch it. So everyone who is wanting this movie will flop are going to be mad when it comes out.
Ocelot - 2/17/2013, 3:36 PM
@flames809 agree it wont flop, the action, the rock, tatum and willis will draw people to this movie, I think it will do well at the box office
YoungThanos - 2/17/2013, 4:26 PM
YES IT WILL FLOP! THE FIRST ONE WAS HORRIBLE AND THIS WONT BE MUCH DIFFERENT!

THEY B*STARDIZED 99% OF THE CHARACTERS, THE ACTING WAS TERRIBLE, THE STORY WAS STUPID, THE FIGHT SCENES WERE HACKED AND THE ACTUAL REASON HASBRO/PARAMOUNT REALLY DELAYED IT WAS BECAUSE BATTLESHIP FLOPPED AND THEY KNEW THAT THIS SEQUEL WASN'T MUCH DIFFERENT AS FAR AS QUALITY GOES SO THEY PULLED IT BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO FLOP. THE WHOLE 3D EXCUSE IS CLEARLY BS!

DO YOU THINK THE LITTLE EXTRA THEY'LL MAKE IN 3D WILL MAKE UP FOR ALL THE MONEY HASBRO LOST IN TOY SALES LAST YEAR???

DIDN'T THINKS SO...SO YOU'RE BETTER OFF WATCHING THE ORIGINAL CARTOON ON NETFLIX THE DAY THIS RELEASES....ROCK PLAYING AS "THE ROCK" IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE THIS FILM. HE'S ONLY BEEN IN ONE OR TWO GOOD FILMS ANYWAY!!!
