ANIME: Goku and Luffy Set For An Epic Showdown In Television Special

"Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Chō Collaboration Special!!" will pit Goku of Dragon Ball Z against Luffy of One Piece and titular hero Toriko in an epic Tenkaichi Budōkai style battle royale.

Anime fans have been arguing the superior merits of various Shōnen heroes for years and it looks like later this year, two of the most popular heroes will go head-to-head. In "Dream 9 Toriko & One Piece & Dragon Ball Z Chō Collaboration Special!!", an hour long television special set to air April 7th, Goku, Toriko and Luffy will compete in a showdown titled 'Tenkaichi Shokuōkai" which could determine which manga's protagonist is the strongest. Also set to appear in the special are:

Dragon Ball Z: Goku, Gohan, Goten, Trunks, Kame Sennin, Android No. 18, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krilin, Announcer, Mr. Satan

One Piece: Luffy, Nami, Chopper, Sanji, Zoro, Franky, Robin, Usopp

Toriko: Toriko, Sunny, Zebra, Coco (the "Four Heavenly King" Gourmet Hunters), Komatsu, Rin, Setsuno

Anyways, Luffy's teamed up with both Goku and TOriko before, but I really wanna see this.

@Shamo - Krillen would lose, I don't know if you've watched or read One Piece but Luffy could do some damage. With his level of Haki he could predict a move before it even happens he can even tell the damage the attack would be if it hit, he can also harden his body parts to some sort of armour and knock people out with the pressure of it.

people are acting like DBZ is the greatest thing ever, sure it was [frick]ing cool, the only problem was that shit took too long to happen and it had a weak(er) story. im not saying Luffy can beat Goku in a fight either but if you all are fans of DBZ then i highly recommend ONE PIECE. the single greatest WRITTEN AND PACED show EVER and this is coming from a guy that has seen everything from DBZ to Batman:TAS to X-men:TAS to [frick]ing Walking Dead, EVERYTHING IM SERIOUS.

ONE PIECE IS THE BEST. take my advice, start watching it, give it time and you will NEVER BE BORED EVER AGAIN. EVER.

@Blackflash, i grew up watching One PIece. it came on Fox Kids back when i was in elementray school. then i watched the subbed version a few years back. made it to where he went to go rescue Ace untill i stopped watching it.

so yeah, unless Luffy got ridiculously more powerful since then Krillen would kill that boy. Master Roshi blew up the moon very early on in the Dragonball series. and i've seen no1 in One PIece come anything close to that.

maybe that other dude can put up a fight though.

*High Five* One Piece is THE best written story. The immense planning, foreshadowing, character development, its just insane this is ran by one man.

That wasn't One Piece you watched, that was 4kids shit. Imagine getting your first exposure to Transformers through Michael Bays second Transformers movie, thats what I would relate your story too.

One Piece is nothing like what you watched, its dark, its serious, theres rape, human enslavement, murder, torture, racism all that involved. It can be a dark manga but it always stays true to its light hearted side with funny moments and touching ones too.

I like DBZ, but One Piece is just better story. Read or watch One Piece, you will laugh, you will cry. Just reserve soething like a year of free time, cause this shit is looooooooooooong :P

I don't think so at least since Naruto is capable of controlling Nine Tails' chakra he would stand a very good chance against Krillin (who other than Goku cannot go Super Saiyan). But Naruto wouldn't stand a chance against Goku thou.

And for [frick]'s sake, if they treat Gohan any more disrespectfully than GT did, I'm gonna go out and kill a [frick]ing kitten.

Stop treating Gohan like second fodder. Toriyama intended him to be Goku's successor. And DBZ should've ended at Cell Saga with both Goku and Gohan's character arc completing (Goku going from kid, to earth's greatest warrior, to passing on the torch. Gohan going from sheltered little boy, to fulfilling his potential). Buu Saga was fun but counter productive to the rest of DBZ.

and to all those saying that luffy doesnt have a chance keep in mind it takes goku like 5 episodes to use 1 attack and luffy usually finishes the fight his in in about 1 or 2 episodes you know when gets there that is...
