Have you seen Brad Pitt's new zombie thriller, World War Z? If so, what did you think? Regardless of whether you have or have not, here are some of the top reactions from the "twittersphere". I think my favorite description of World War Z was "diet zombie movie."

It appears World War Z has rebounded from some incredibly negative early press. In fact, the film happens to be Brad Pitt's biggest opening weekend to date according to Exhibitor Relations. With the sequel reportedly given the official greenlight from Paramount, the pressing question is whether or not Marc Forster will return at the helm as the director was at the center or the controversy. Below, you can see some of the wide array (mostly positive) of reactions to World War Z from various celebrities, comic book professionals and film journalists.

CinemaCon Presentation For STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS And WORLD WAR Z

Running Time: 1 hr 56 min
Release Date: June 2013 (USA)
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Starring: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, Bryan Cranston, Ed Harris
Directed by: Marc Forster
Written by: Matthew Michael Carnahan (screenplay), Damon Lindelof (screenplay), Drew Goddard (screenplay)

"United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Mireille Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Daniella Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen. World War Z is an adaptation of the best-selling 2006 apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks. Instead of a grand narrative, the novel is a creative collection of individual accounts of survival during the 'Zombie War' where Brooks plays the role of the interviewer. The film has eschewed this format and opts for a more traditional storytelling format. Well-known writer J. Michael Straczynski wrote an initial screenplay that was truer to the source material but was tossed at the last second by Matthew Michael Carnahan to make the film more of an action movie. There's is preliminary talks of a sequel film, which is dependent upon World War Z's box office performance.”

I liked Muse's involvement in the movie, using "Isolated System" was great and really worked well within the context of the movie. I like Muse in general though so my opinion is biased.

Shittiest movie I've seen all year, which isn't a surprise coming from Marc Forster. The editing and shakey cam in Z is actually worse than Quantum of Solace.

supermarioworldE You're commenting on the shaky cam? What little there was of it, I can't even think of the scenes that used it. Do you get pissed about little things like this all the time, you sound young what are you 13?

I saw WWZ and it was OK. I like MOS way better but I find it hilarious how some folks call this movie "shit" and that it will "flop" without actually seeing the movie. My favorite funny statement-

"Fact is WWZ is getting massacred by MOS and MU will have to be very lucky to beat it to #1"

and

"At least SEE MOS before you judge it, MOS= greatest CBM EVER"!

....LMAO!!!!!!! The hype and hypocrisy is just too funny.

No need to get defensive, A2ron. It's just a movie. Insults towards mild criticisms are usually the acts of the young minded.

And yes, I thought the shakey cam work AND editing was poorly done and very noticeable. I can't recall more than a handful of scenes where a shot lasted more than 5 seconds.

I thought this movie was very disappointing. OK at best. Most of the scenes that were any good, I saw in the trailers a bunch of times before hand. I know I shouldn't compare this to MOS but I just don't understand how this movie could possibly get better reviews than MOS. I was in a packed theater and it sounded as though no one really enjoyed it too much and the fact that it was no where near the storyline of the book, was a disappointment. I liked Brad Pitt in it but his wife was horrible and annoying and the ending seemed kinda rushed.

It's good, but not exactly great...although, it actually REALLY could've been my favorite this year, without that third act, and maybe the pacing of the first act. But as someone who never expected much from it, I'd say this is quite a pleasant surprise.

Yeah those tweets are from the usual idiots that simply want to to stick to their preconceived decisions to hate the movie because it was not being made in the format of the book. The film is intense and the ending is that way because this is only the first chapter in a series of stories about the same event.

Regardless it's already on its way to becoming a huge hit and making those idiots look like the assholes they are. Especially once they see the big picture of an anthology of zombie stories the way the book is when all the movies are put together.

Nobody cares about these Luddites view on these not being real zombies, all people care about is that they are fricken terrifying and the suspense factor is insanely high. That's why its already become the highest debut for any zombie movie in the history of cinema.

Keep moaning ass-wipes, there's a club you can join for sour grapes that's run by the idiots who still think Michael Bays Transformers is gonna flop eventually because its not what they think real Transformers should be like, you'll be at home there!

I like Zombies, but I just have had no motivation to see this movie. I like Brad Pitt enough (no homo), but when every trailer seems to focus on zombies piling on top of each other to run over a buss, or climb up a wall (even the poster had zombies piling on top of each other to try and grab a helicopter) seems like its the only trick they have. do I have this correct, the government gives Pitt X amount of time to end the zombie apocalypse? one man is supposed to stop it?

Also, I have not read the book.

It was really good. I was so surprised at the theater when I was watching this. It had intense and action scenes. The part when they were in the laboratory was intense and directed perfectly! 8 out of ten.

I said intense two times.
