Stephen Amell Open To Playing Green Arrow In A 'JUSTICE LEAGUE' Film

Actor Stephen Amell says Green Arrow could become the next breakout superhero, similar to Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man" while also stating he'd be game for a "Justice League" film. Should "Arrow" mix with the budding DC Cinematic Universe?

Speaking to SciFiNow, "Arrow" actor Stephen Amell shared that he believes Green Arrow could be the next B-list superhero to breakout into mainstream media similar to how Robert Downey Jr.'s "Iron Man" exploded in 2008 to become a pop culture phenomenon. Said Amell, “I think that Green Arrow has an opportunity to mature in much the same way Iron Man did in the Marvel universe. He wasn’t necessarily a top level character, but because they made an Iron Man movie and it was successful, it vaulted him up and now he anchors the Avengers."

Amell also told SciFiNow that he'd love to co-star in a "Justice League" film and that he'd even sweep the floor when filming wrapped. Commenting further, Amell added, "It’s always up to what’s popular at the moment. Right now archery seems to be having a mini renaissance, so hopefully he can settle into a firm rotating member of the DC Justice League of America.”

I wouldn't complain if this happened but then again, his arrow kills, but still I can see him next to cavill
Praetorian - 7/9/2013, 2:45 PM
Hell yes. In the second one, not the first. But Green Arrow might seem a little unnecessary alongside Green Lantern, Flash and Superman
JordanKing - 7/9/2013, 2:45 PM
@superman2013 Yes, he'll feel right at home next to the Man of Steel.
Nenured - 7/9/2013, 2:51 PM
It could work. At least he can´tbe more boring the Hawkeye.
sameoldthing - 7/9/2013, 2:56 PM
I like ARROW show & he's good in the role but..call him GREEN ARROW!!
Saying he's a "vigilante" or "archer" or "hood" is getting lame.

The show can be called ARROW but call him GA or GTFO.
ForeverPowerful - 7/9/2013, 3:00 PM
YES!!!
JerBear - 7/9/2013, 3:18 PM
It would be wise for WB to at least include Arrow in their cinematic universe. I don't think there's any continuity issues so far.
MercSoul - 7/9/2013, 3:21 PM
it could work and it would let more cameos of superheros on Arrow, and it would be the agents of shield of dc
sappro - 7/9/2013, 3:24 PM
The Arrow TV series shouldn't be a part of the DC Cinematic Universe, that would confuse people who aren't hardcore fans. I do think he'd make a great Green Arrow in a JL film... Too bad that probably won't happen
JerBear - 7/9/2013, 3:26 PM
@sappro
WB will see what Marvel's doing with Agents of SHIELD and try to emulate that. It's in DC/WB's best interest to tie everything they can to Man Of Steel and Justice League.
Sortis - 7/9/2013, 4:06 PM
YES! Please make it happen! Amazing Oliver Queen!
Shaggy - 7/9/2013, 4:07 PM

Still say it will never happen but, i been wrong before.

campblood - 7/9/2013, 4:14 PM
I would be down with him playing arrow on the big screen , only i want him to get a suit upgrade
CaptainPresley - 7/9/2013, 4:14 PM
This a no brainer. Of course WB/DC should tie everything they have into the DCCU.
MrChuff - 7/9/2013, 4:14 PM
Of COURSE he wants in on a Justice League movie.
What jobbing TV star wouldnt?
This is just as moronic as the "stars" of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wanting in on Avengers 2.

If I say I want to be in both will that work too?

Idiots.
kenjim152 - 7/9/2013, 4:18 PM
It would be great if supes or Diana get involved in a fight in Starlimg City where arrow tells them to get away of his city while he is trying to save some people.
JMESS - 7/9/2013, 4:19 PM
No. Just no.
Zordan - 7/9/2013, 4:20 PM
HELL [frick]ING YES. do this
Frogman - 7/9/2013, 4:20 PM
Only if they go the New 52 route. Justice League rejects Green Arrow, he then joins Justice League of America to combat Batman if the Government tell him to.
Zordan - 7/9/2013, 4:25 PM
cavil, bale, reynolds, amell dude there is universe already!!!
Thegeekygurl - 7/9/2013, 4:25 PM
Hopefully he will be in a JL film. Hes hot!

He can bring Colton Haynes/Roy Harper along as well.
It will be the hottest Superhero film ever!

superotherside - 7/9/2013, 4:25 PM
If he is in the second JL I wouldn't mind. If they find a way to use him well in the first JL maybe but I doubt for the first one.
113 - 7/9/2013, 4:25 PM
Of course he does! B-List TV actors would love to be in a big budget summer blockbuster...lmfao
TheMexiJew - 7/9/2013, 4:27 PM
I think it's weird that he specified the "Justice League of America" as the one he wants to join.
DCNY - 7/9/2013, 4:29 PM
No offense to Amell but TV stars never translate well to the big screen. Audiences will associate him with Arrow and Wednesday nights. Doesn't work. Movie characters need to last and transcend their mini-budget TV shows.

Charlie Hunnam for Oliver. Dude is badass. Will bring a much needed grit to McQueen Industries.

But save him for JL 2/sequel, please :)
tonytony - 7/9/2013, 4:30 PM
he has done an excellent job on arrow so far. I dont know if arrow can be one of the characters for a JL film. I would have batman, superman, flash wonder woman and martian manhunter. The plot would center round the martian manhunter
RipperSavage - 7/9/2013, 4:30 PM
Surprising that he understands the fact that Iron Man was a B-List guy before 2008.

That means hes been paying attention. Might even have bought some comics.

I've enjoyed 80% of the Arrow episodes more than Iron Man 3, TDKR, ASM and MOS.

Arrow Season #1 as a whole was great. It delivers!
RipperSavage - 7/9/2013, 4:39 PM
@DCNation214 Disagree with you. I think we just havent seen it done properly.

But Arrow will likely finish Season 4 maybe even 6 by the time a JL movie hits and that means his Arrow willfeel kinda old. At that point the series could be gone and Amell may not want to do the character.

A JL movie would take 3 years to finish once serious production begins.

Cavill is a real actor with real opportunities. By that point he may have done 3 MOS films and move on from it.

WB will continue to spin their wheels because they have no Leader in place to Manage production of their CBMs.
If a JL film happens it would be 2017 at the earliest.
thewonderer - 7/9/2013, 4:41 PM
DCnation went full retard

Hunnam is the star of sons of anarchy, a Tv show.

MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

And to those ignorant users saying "call him green arrow" and "he's a killer", they've already confirmed this will be the case.

He is transitioning into a hero and will be called green arrow. It's confirmed and will happen in due time
fettastic - 7/9/2013, 4:44 PM
Yeah ask Linda Carter if she wants to be Wonder Woman in Justice League while you're at it.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 7/9/2013, 4:47 PM
Similar to RDJ as Iron Man?! Yeah right. No offense.
miklonus - 7/9/2013, 4:51 PM
Warner Bros has all their eggs in one basket, all their properties under one roof, and they still can't get a shared environment working together properly. I hate how Marvel cheapens their movies, from Fox to Paramount to Sony to Disney, but at least they have the f_cking sense to have it ALL exist in one place

Marvel, at least, can pull it off, even if their execution reveals them to be cheap bastards while doing it. I love Marvel's characters I just hate Marvel's movie studio, but that doesn't stop me from realizing their top properties are spread out at other studios, and they STILL find a way to get lower level shit characters into the same picture frame, the same shot.

This would have been a non-issue with Marvel a long time ago, esPEcially if Disney had owned them sooner. How Warner Bros can have EVERY SINGLE ONE of their characters in their grasp, and not make SOME kind of cohesive world, is beyond me.
GliderMan - 7/9/2013, 4:54 PM
I wouldn't want him in Justice League, cuz it's too similar to Avengers, but I wouldn't complain if it happened. Really, all I want is for it to be a part of the DCCU.
miklonus - 7/9/2013, 4:55 PM
I agree with what DCNation214 says (minus the picture), and 113 backs up what he says. Of COURSE a "B-List(more like C-list) TV actor would love to be in a big budget summer blockbuster"
GliderMan - 7/9/2013, 4:57 PM
Since he's an archer and Hawkeye's an archer is what I mean.
AlternateNo4 - 7/9/2013, 5:00 PM
if arrow lasts a few seasons, and he gets better AND becomes a bigger name, it could work.
Dmon - 7/9/2013, 5:04 PM
TEA! WE NEED BOOBIES ON THIS PAGE NOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!
Optimus83 - 7/9/2013, 5:12 PM
Green Arrow or Arrow???. ...Arrow is not for Justice League

Nolan Batman & Nolan/Snyder Superman ¡¡¡YES!!!
Lemons - 7/9/2013, 5:15 PM
It's a risky plan, but I would not mind him playing GA in JL.

If WB can pull it off and connect his show character to the film, it might not be so bad. And instead of having solo films for GA, we get to follow him on the show. It's different, and if done well could introduce a lot more opportunities for the whole DCCU.
