Has Chris Hemsworth Confirmed Captain America as Leader of The Avengers?

Does a small, unnoticed comment from Chris Hemsworth in the following interview finally confirm what fans have been wondering for over a year? Is Captain America the leader of The Avengers in the upcoming Marvel film?

Before you get too far into this video and inform me that "this has already been posted," let me just say that I am already aware of that. However, there seems to be a very small, almost inaudible piece of this interview (a portion that has not been touched upon in any of the reports and almost unnoticeable) that is the actual reason I have posted this video. I haven't even noticed any comments pertaining to it, so bear with me.

If you turn your sound up at the beginning (the jumbled part that almost nobody has paid any attention to) you'll notice at the 18 second mark, the interviewer is talking to Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth.

Chris was the leader and you guys follow him?

Hemsworth: He's the boss, yeah. Yeah.

Is this confirmation that Captain America is actually the leader of the team as most of us have hoped? While I can't say for certain, it doesn't look like Hemsworth is joking around. It certainly seems like he just acknowledged Chris Evans as the team leader.

The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon and starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson is set for release May of 2012.

wow i really thought since nick went to iron man first he was gonna be the one running the show! its great to hear cap is the main man! sweet article hawks!
BooYah - 8/22/2011, 1:56 PM
I noticed it but I'm glad you made an article about it because I'm not sure others did.
HelaGood - 8/22/2011, 1:56 PM
damn and i thought it was gonna be Cyclops...
manofmidgard - 8/22/2011, 1:59 PM
he prolly won't start as the leader, but will assume the lead and after a lot of egos clashing (iron man, thor, and hulk means it aint gonna go easy, then throw in a smart-@ssed hawkeye too, just for sh!ts n giggles), but by the end of the final battle of the movie he will become respected by all and assume the role and lead the avengers to victory. just guessin tho...
Godzillafart - 8/22/2011, 1:59 PM
I hope Evans can pull it off. I was pleasantly surprised by him in TFA, but he never really had to play the part of a leader, especially with personalities as strong as Stark/RDJ and Thor/Hemsworth. That is the part of the character I've been most worried about with Evans. He was great at capturing a very sympathetic Steve, but has yet to make me believe men would follow him into battle.
SonOfStarKiller - 8/22/2011, 2:00 PM
Is it me or does Tom Hiddleson play things a little too fast and loose when talking about The Avengers? I feel like I've learned so much more about this movie from his most recent comments (not that I'm complaining). I know Marvel is going to put a gag order on my dude real soon. LOL
TayDee - 8/22/2011, 2:02 PM
I think we all knew he was gonna be the leader anyways
NOLANITE - 8/22/2011, 2:05 PM
This movie is gonna blow. He said something about Lunch, he was probably talking about off movie time or something. Dont think Hulk would subdue himself to Caps' level and be his Beatch. :)
golden123 - 8/22/2011, 2:05 PM
@TayDee: I don't know about that. You got to remember Ironman was the leader for like the first two decades of the Avengers existence. If they wanted to stay true to the comics they would go with Ironman.
GUNSMITH - 8/22/2011, 2:08 PM
THEY LOVE TALKING ABOUT THE MOVIE.
SHHH - 8/22/2011, 2:08 PM
The Movie is Gonna Be Boss...
sexfoodcomics - 8/22/2011, 2:10 PM
Whe do you guys think will shout the famous "Avengers Assemble" line first in the movie? I'm hoping its Cap but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Fury.
SugarYumYum - 8/22/2011, 2:10 PM
Did anyone really think he wouldn't be though?

@NOLANITE: ... you make about as much sense as the actual Nolanites, but I guess that's the point. ;)
Greengo - 8/22/2011, 2:11 PM
Well he is the oldest
marvel72 - 8/22/2011, 2:11 PM
iron man was the leader in early avengers of the 60s & 70s.ain't got a problem with cap being the leader but iron man would of been good as well.
Kaedus - 8/22/2011, 2:11 PM
I'm just waiting for the Avengasm I get when Cap shouts "Avengers Assemble!". I think I'll cry :')
JackBauer - 8/22/2011, 2:13 PM
When they gather at the end against Loki I'm going to have a nerdgasm when Cap shouts "Avengers Assemble" :)

@SonOfStarKiller - He only mentions what he's allowed to say. He makes several references throughout these videos to that fact.
NOLANITE - 8/22/2011, 2:15 PM
@Sugar: Um i make plenty of sense, just as much sense Nolan has for not having a cowl or ears on Good Ol Anne.

JackDexx - 8/22/2011, 2:18 PM
who didn't know this
JackDexx - 8/22/2011, 2:20 PM
i think we will take charge in the final battle, and say his epic line for the first time. then they listen to all his orders during the fight.
Jefferys - 8/22/2011, 2:21 PM
Cap leader aye? I don't think they'll just let him be leader. They're all kinda want to lead into battle, especially Iron Man or possibly Thor.

It would be a nice touch if at the end Cap screamed it (AVENGERS ASSEMBLE) against the battle against the main bad guys whether it be Skrulls/-insert alien race- /Kree and/or Loki. I have a feeling it's something that Joss would do.
Jennn - 8/22/2011, 2:21 PM
guys, it's in this Fandago video (dont think it's been posted yet)

One thing I loved about Transformers DOTM was the promotional music for the trailers was awesome and got you pumped. I want the same for the Avengers.

Mechagino - 8/22/2011, 3:01 PM
Wait who's the boss?
113 - 8/22/2011, 3:01 PM
Nice to have confirmation of that, it's the only choice that makes sense. Having him and Iron Man fight over leadership is a good dynamic but after that it needs to become clear who the group would rather follow.

I mean realistically speaking, the only traits that Captain America brings to the Avengers is his leadership, tactical mind, PR, and inspiration. Being a super strong, super fast human still makes you relatively weak (compared to Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and all the major threats in the Marvel universe). A single bullet will still kill him, if he falls off a building he will die etc...

What makes him a leader is that he's not all that powerful compared to the others but he overcomes his fear and his lack of powers.
WinterSoldier24 - 8/22/2011, 3:02 PM
Well they're right, he is their boss and they need to respect their elders. :P

@beingkid Are you Shane or robert? Dude enough with the kid pics? We get it you love kids, jesus christ someone get his IP and call the internet cops on this pedo.
007440 - 8/22/2011, 3:02 PM

JackDexx - 8/22/2011, 3:14 PM
aww ): ..........
i can haz boobs?
Godzillafart - 8/22/2011, 3:17 PM
2 questions: First, am I the only one concerned that Evans won't be able to play a convincing leader? Did you guys see anything in TFA that indicated he could?

Second, am I the only guy the DOES NOT want to hear "Avengers Assemble" yelled in this movie by anyone, ever? It's even kinda goofy when they do it in the comics and the cartoon.

@greengo: That Peter Parker gif is one of the most [frick]ed up things I have ever seen! If you ever showed it to someone on mushrooms it would turn them into a gibbering mess. Nice work.
dahamma - 8/22/2011, 3:28 PM
@GodzillaFart

1. No you are not, me neither. As someone mentioned yes Evans did show the sympathetic and moral steve rodgers, but I have not seen the Leadership i affiliate cap with in the comics.

2. Heck YES i do it MUST happen!
ALmighty1080 - 8/22/2011, 3:34 PM
as long as it isnt Robert Downey, please no improvising from that guy.
