MARVEL Shooting New TV Series In Vancouver

A source close to production of a new ABC series has revealed that it's a Marvel series that is being produced under the tightest security. The series, possibly the long rumored Agent Carter series, is enroute for principal photography to begin by June 2014.

Insider sources have revealed to me that Marvel and ABC are preparing to continue their relationship that started with this years Agents of SHIELD, with an as-of-yet unannounced TV series that is set to begin filming very soon.

The series, which is working under the production title, 'That Old Chestnut' has been in pre-production in terms of having a script written, but for the past month or so, my source tells me that both ABC and Marvel are now beginning to hire crew members for the show and are hiring local talent in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Filming in Vancouver means that the show will utilize studio space as well as take advantage of Vancouver locales for location filming. The show will join the likes of Arrow, Smallville, and Fringe; shows that have also shot in the city. My source tells me that the reason for Vancouver is partially due to the province's tax incentives.

With the hiring of crew members, my source tells me that Marvel is trying to keep security extremely tight on the project, whilst also trying to keep a brisk pace. My source tells me that in his twenty years of experience, he hasn't seen this level of devotion to security. Meanwhile, Marvel is also trying to get the show into principal photography by June at the latest.

My source also revealed that Marvel and ABC is putting a lot of money into this series; mentioning that it far exceeds the standard budget for a regular television series.

No mention of plot details, but when I asked my source if this show was the long rumored and talked about Agent Carter series, I was met with 'Mum's the word'. Take that for what you will.

Rumors of ABC filming a series in Vancouver have been circulating locally for a while but with the show now being a Marvel series; it would seem that both Marvel and ABC have huge plans for the MCU on TV going forward.

I know its not likely but... GUILLERMO DEL TORO HULK SERIES. Think about it... The show was originally supposed to be on ABC, the show would have a high budget, and MARVEL would probably keep it top secret!
marvel72 - 1/23/2014, 6:41 PM
fingers crossed it turns out good.
BlueLanternKnight - 1/23/2014, 6:46 PM
Honestly, I'm not so sure it's Agent Carter. Why would it be kept so secret? I kind of hope it's something completely out there that nobody else has ever considered. If it was Agent Carter, there's no point in keeping it a secret because, well, it's what everyone guessed.
Omarvls - 1/23/2014, 6:59 PM
Damn
Marvel on roll last couple of days

Yeah...I agree, if it's Agent Carter, why would that be under such tight security?? Is Marvel about to spring another surprise on us??
JumpingSpider - 1/23/2014, 7:35 PM
That Old Chestnut......a Squirrel Girl series?!
superotherside - 1/23/2014, 7:35 PM
Well, what ever it is I hope it's good.

I'd love a Punisher TV series, but doubt that would be on ABC.

I could see it on AMC though.

Awesome! I'm glad they're putting so much money behind a female led Marvel TV series.

I hope this show paves the way for female led Marvel movies.
dracula - 1/23/2014, 8:21 PM
maybe the Netflix shows
soforizo - 1/23/2014, 8:24 PM
@acorsi11

I wish it was Del Toro's Hulk, but there's no chance that we're getting that now that Marvel favors cohesion with its movie and tv shows. A real shame. It's likely Agent Carter, and that carries no appeal to me.
TheIncredibleHulksta - 1/23/2014, 8:34 PM
@dracula this is purely ABC. They are not involved with the Netflix shows.
ALmazing - 1/23/2014, 9:18 PM
Blame the hungers games, strong female characters are in demand, I for one I'm looking forward to this.
Darlene1974 - 1/23/2014, 9:37 PM
Whatever it is, BLOODY PUT SUPERHEROES IN IT!!!!!.... Next min, it's just another bunch of James Bonds/ Alias/ Nikitta: crapo series.....
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/23/2014, 9:47 PM
Excellent news. Marvel are smart. Just like how NCIS & CSI had spinoffs, marvel wants theirs to be Agent Carter. The one shot was amazing and the best marvel one shot to date. If this is Agent Carter and not Daredevil then expect dum dum dugan, Howard stark, Gabe Jones and the other howling commandos. Jeez marvel will be giving us heros in the 40s/50s while ant man will give us heros in the 60s.

Marvel: where casting is impeccable and trendsetting happens. ;)
TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/23/2014, 9:51 PM
Don't care if its a procedure agent show. It's ABC and marvel are trying to get that CSI & NCIS crowd. More Haley Atwell doesn't hurt. Marvel all day.
MrHollywood - 1/23/2014, 9:53 PM
for those who aren't aware, the idiom "old chestnut" refers to a well known or tired/worn out story everyone knows... interesting production title to say the very least.
JoJo1982 - 1/23/2014, 10:04 PM
Marvel is about to make a big take over in tv

Me like it
MarkV - 1/23/2014, 10:43 PM
Marvel is...well I want to say 'delusional' but that seems too harsh.

They are in an experimental phase that carries considerable risk. I see this ending badly, but I am often wrong about my predictions, so I'm sure I'll be wrong again.

I just can't see all this nonsense working out.
Wiccan - 1/23/2014, 11:38 PM
I reckon it's Hulk. That Old Chestnut refers to a well known/worn or tired story right? One TV series. Two solo movies. Two appearances in other movies (The Avengers, Iron Man 3). Three solo(/based around) cartoons VS. A spy woman from the 40's, who's been in just one movie, and not a character in comic continuity (although 'that old chestnut' could refer to Peggy's hair colour). I mean if you think about it before the X-Men movie Spidey, Wolverine and Hulk were the most well-know marvel comics characters, to the general public of course. This came around thanks to TV series and cartoons. I think the only other possible thing it could be would be a Captain Marvel series, the production name could be hinting at there having been seven Captain Marvels, and with the obvious introduction of Carol Danvers in CA:TWS, Hulk and Captain/Ms. Marvel seem to be the only possibilities. Though I am definitely up for a Great Lakes Avengers series starring Squirrel Girl.
loki668 - 1/24/2014, 12:07 AM
It's a series about Evangeline Von SnootyBooty: The Seamstress of SHIELD.
DudeLove721 - 1/24/2014, 1:55 AM
Well considering the president of ABC confirmed last week that he got a script for Agent Carter, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that this is what they're filming. Also, not to be a dick... I honestly don't know, but do TV shows actually have "principle photography?" I just wouldn't think they would have time for reshoots or anything, considering they're already onto filming the next episode by the time the previous one is done being edited together.
0ptimusCrime - 1/24/2014, 1:56 AM
Does anyond BESIDES comicbook fans give a shit about agent carter?
Ace101 - 1/24/2014, 2:33 AM
@OptimusCrime perhaps. but then at least this show will have a fan base before the show even starts unlike many other shows which nobody knows diddly squat about before their release.

TheRealRemyLebeau - 1/24/2014, 7:17 AM
@wiccan what the hell are you talking about. Your quote "A spy woman from the 40's, who's been in just one movie, and not a character in comic continuity".

Margaret "Peggy" Carter is a fictional comic book character appearing in books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in books featuring Captain America. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, she first appeared in Tales of Suspense #77 as a World War II love interest of Captain America in flashback sequences.

an old chestnut (informal)
a subject, idea, or joke which has been discussed or repeated so many times that it is not interesting or funny any more
I wondered whether there might, after all, be some truth in the old chestnut that one's school days are the happiest of one's life. Play allows us to rediscover the child in ourselves - that old chestnut.
TheAbomination - 1/24/2014, 8:25 AM
Wow. Didn't expect Agent Carter to develop this fast.
blacknumber13 - 1/24/2014, 9:51 AM
I believe that the saying "That Old Chestnut" is British. Agent Carter is British...

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/01/24/will-agent-carter-be-more-marvelous-than-marvels-a.aspx

"However, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD hasn't been a huge success, with viewers dropping from 12.1 million for its premiere to 6.4 million in its most recent episode on Jan. 14. The show was hit and miss over most of the past 12 episodes, and has often been criticized as being too detached from the Marvel universe seen in the films."
