Mark Hamill to direct "The Black Pearl"

The "Star Wars" actor seems to be making progress in getting the film made of his own comic book series.

Mark Hamill will be directing a film adaptation of his and Eric Johnson's 1996 Dark Horse comic mini-series "The Black Pearl."

For those of you who don't know, the comic tells the story of Luther Drake, a troubled man turned costumed vigilante through accident and media pressure.

Hamill stated that he's keeping the film's budget in the $5-7 million range as it allows him to direct it and which will also give him much more creative control.

The goal, he says, is “to make a movie the studios wouldn’t make.”

"Directed and created by the voice of the Joker himself: Mark Hamill"

That might be a little weird to hear on a tv spot

NO!!!!!!!!! My great uncle gave me a bunch of comics that he had gotten over the years at truck stops and stuff, and there were like 3 issues of "The Black Pearl". It was so stupid that I couldn't even continue reading.

The needle fingers look kinda like the Scarecrow from Arkham Asylum.

Can a decent movie even be made for 6 million any more?
