Yea i was rooting for Joe for a long while but I was kind of worried about Joe's acting ability before they announced Henry.
Joe's okay and good enough in True Blood but Supes needs depth and Henry seems to have it.

I trust Snyder on his choice Cavill will be a good Superman

i think he chose wrong. Joe would have been a badass superman, plus he wouldn't have to bulk up like Cavill needs to.

i think it speaks volumes on how perfect henry was for supes when his other choice was already muscular built like superman and stood 6'5 and american

but went for the British 6'1 much less muscularly built guy all based on talent

Henry Cavill was born for this role...i do agree he might of been too young back in the McG/Ratner days of Superman...but he has matured to a GREAT actor...and the role has been waiting for him ever since

@SuperConnerKent

yes, italian looking Superman iwould look wrong when compared with comics version superman, but Superman with the build of Tobey McGuire's version of Spider-Man is worse than an italian looking superman.

i am on the skeptics side of this casting and not really holding my breath on this movie. i am open to having my mind changed though.

Italian looking Superman would have been [frick]in' awesome and you're all racists and I'm not even Italian. Jersey Shore has coloured your opinions of that wonderfully rich culture. Superman doesn't need to look American at all...he's from outer space. I think hence the reason Snyder had no qualms with casting a Brit. Good on him.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 3/19/2011, 2:19 AM
I remember thinking the dude on Loise and Clark was mexican or asian. But yeah, Supes isn't from America. So, it wouldn't matter.

And doesn't Snyder come off as a dick in these interviews? There's some douche residue about him I can't quite put my finger on.

@P862010

Superman does not been to be a huge bodybuilder guy. Henry Cavill is ripped and has a good build for the character.

@NeoBaggins

you mean Dean Cain his mix Asian and Caucasian

@SuperConnerKent

what the hell u on, guess what Superman was played by a Asian/Caucasian looking actor you heard of Dean Cain.

This coupled with the fact that he never auditioned that dope Routh gives me so much hope and assurance in the reboot! SNYDER FTW!!!

Only thing is...I hope Snyder doesn't go too far with the innocence factor for Supes. I know he is Superman but we've already had 4 films of him being dead-on innocent and no real villains and the last film, he was just plain flat-out creepy and did nothing for 2 1/2 hours. This movie has gotta rectify all that.

@cyclopstb- Hahaha yeah sure good luck with that dream. Routh is gone good riddance. He isn't Superman he IS however Dylan Dog...I feel bad for that character :P

I figure if they were gonna audition Routh they may as well have auditioned a zucchini to portray Superman. Probably has a better screen-presence than that hack =P

Henry Cavill as Superman. I have grown to like him after watching The Tudors the past few weeks. And by the way they dont need to camera angles and camera trick to make him look taller if hes 6'1 he just needs 3 or 4 inch lifts.

Jessica Biel as Lois Lane

Paul Bettany as Brainiac

Micheal Shannon as Lex Luthor

Jeff Bridges as Perry White

Jesse Eisenberg as Jimmy Olsen

Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent

Diane Lane as Martha Kent

Jon Hamm as Jor El

Rachel Weisz as Lara

Daniel Day Lewis as Zod if they do a cameo of him at the beginning or whatever

and Tom Weiling as Supermans stunt double lol

I was rooting for Joe too, but Zack is right, if Superman grew up in a farm in Kansas, he must have some innocence Joe was probably too tough to be Superman, I mean Superman should be tough and physical but he needs to have that tender, caring side.

So what happened to all the people crying about Routh and Welling for the role? I still see a Routh pitch once in a while (why, I'll never know) but the Welling nuts seemed to have disappeared. Hmmmmmm....doesn't matter I guess. I have the feeling that this movie is going to be a lot better thought out in terms of an alien baby being raised on a farm as a human and how he chooses to find his place in the world.

@LP4

dude shut the [frick] up, no one cares about you [female dog]ing about routh even though the majority of the audience liked him.\
henry cavill is a PERFECT CHOICE! just make him 6'4 when he puts on the suit and have him be 6'1 as clark kent so the audience will truly see them as 2 different people :)
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 3/20/2011, 1:08 AM
jazzman Oh, ok. Dean Cain WAS mixed. He reminded me of Slater from Saved by the Bell.

I liked Roth. His channeling of Reeves was amazing. The film wasn't his fault though. They made the wrong creative choices with the movie's story.
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 3/20/2011, 3:12 AM
NeoBaggins - I totally get what you're saying in your earlier post. Everyone thinks Clark needs to look like a Kansas farm boy when the truth is he should only act like one. He was raised there but his genes are kryptonian so to have an actor who looks slightly out of place could actually add to the character.

As for Snyder and his "douche" essence coming through, I do agree with you but then again, you try being asked the same questions (questions you can't answer or must answer very carefully) every single day and not come across like a bit of a douche.

Henry Cavill has the look, but what was wrong with using Brandon Routh? Superman Returns was good, just a little to much Donner worship. This time around, let's do what Batman Begins did and use a lesser known villian instead of the obvious Lex Luthor, like Braniac, Metallo, or Bizzaro. Someone who could kick Supermans ass.

@SideKick- You know what motherfu*ker why don't YOU STFU. I have a right to say whatever the hell i wanna say. If you love routh so damn much- DON'T SEE THE NEW MOVIE!!!

As it stands Cavill is a much better actor- Routh didn't even ACT.

Furthermore FU*K OFF good sir ;D

I JUST SAID NO GIVES A SH*T ABOUT YOUR OPINION! I AGREE HENRY CAVILL IS THE BETTER ACTOR BUT YOU [female dog] SO MUCH IN ALMOST EVERY ARTICLE! NO ONE LIKES YOU..
LP4
LP4 - 3/21/2011, 3:21 AM
@SideKick- It's a free country so I'll complain about Routh all I want. What are you, his fu*king brother? his sister? his agent? Because I still don't see why you're defending the guy.

And to say no one cares what i have to say about Routh is funny. Lots of people have agreed routh sucks. Look at editorials DIPSHIT and read the article by "SupermanFan01" about how to bring back Routh and read through the comments turd-bank and you'll see 90% of the people didn't want routh back. They recasted the guy for a REASON. In any case, I'm done with this bit*h contest.

And oh...no one likes me? "Waaaah, waaaaaah!! Boohoo I'm crying now" LMAO, look TROLL go to your lame-ass Green Hornet articles and quit trolling Superman articles just to start fights. I may complain about routh a lot but you know why? BECAUSE I AM A SUPERMAN FAN AND A VERY DISAPPOINTED ONE. As a fan I have a RIGHT to complain about an actor who I personally felt was a terrible depiction of my hero. If you don't agree with me- FINE see if I give a shit. But don't be telling me my opinion is fu*king wrong or starting these fights with me. HENRY CAVILL is Superman. Routh is gone, get over it dude. Oh and for the record- FU*K OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE.

i'm an UBER Joe's supporter. he's just RIGHT for the role. it's funny how he out of nowhere got cast in True Blood and gained attention just around the time they're starting this whole superman reboot project.
i think joe was meant to do the role.
i don't know, maybe if they do decide to go forward with another Justice League movie, with no relation with either bale's batman series and cavill's superman series, they could finally cast joe as their Superman, with (hopefully) grey's anatomy's Eric Dane as their Batman, with Ryan as GL etc.

Why hasnt anyone said anyting about Tom Welling? The guy has done a great job on smallville and i think fans see him and superman. All fans of smallville and Tom have been waiting to finally see him as Superman. Henry just doesnt impress me as Superman. Either way i hope the writers to the movie justice and dont rush it like so many other hero flicks that are turned out for more of a profit then for the fans who follow them.
