Make it happen! A sequel could clear GL's name! And get JJ ABRAMS!

That's not going to make it work. Freakin' moron. The tone was just fine. It needs a better script. The action was fine. It was the [pacing of the movie. Dumb asses rushed the damn thing. Waaay too damn fast. No need to put the cart before the horse. Now I DON'T want a sequel, 'cuz this idiot hasn't realized what truly messed the film up. If you don't acknowledge a flaw, what's to stop you from repeating the same damn mistake, again?

And for the Cap fans out there who gave Capt. America a good review -- you guys have no sense, lol. Cap suffered from the same thing. Pacing was all off -- rushed story just like GL. Only difference is GL was more realistic. How can Cap sneak into a military facility so easily without even flinching? So FAIL.. I feel like Grif today, 'cuz y'all got no comprehension of how a script is done. Both movies FAIL'd to deliver, flat out. Don't like it? Sue me.. lol.

@Jer3miah

agreed about GL, but I strongly disagree with Captain America. Now yes it was unrealistic that he got into that facility undetected at all pretty much, but on everything else that movie delivered.

There may not be superhero fatigue, but there sure as hell is Green Lantern fatigue after that movie! :P Seriously though, I just hope they learn from their mistakes and give us the movie we all deserve next time.

Green Lantern has potential and the cast was good, now WB need to look at the first one and avoid the mistakes they made the first time.

They need to
- get a better script with a deeper story and better characterization
- don't rush it
- get a passionate director
- make a better marketing stategy

After two Hulk movies, Green Hornet and Green Lantern, maybe it's just "green" fatigue.

Green Lantern kinda sucked, but it was typical of an introductory super hero movie. A sequel could be really good with Sinestro going all yellow and shit...kinda like Green Lantern: First Flight

"Only difference is GL was more realistic. How can Cap sneak into a military facility so easily without even flinching?"
yeah,an intergalactic corp of peacekeepers composed by thousands of members from different alien races, which powers are given by a ring powered by will is far more realistic than that :P

@ Sexymuppet.

Agreed whole heartedly.

I want other species constructs like Bzzd creating a swarm of himself to attack. Would be frickin awesome.

I want Shark!

I want the baseball glove.

Carry one.

They need to take the Emphasis off Hal/Ryan if they don't reboot it. What better way to make it "edgier" than introducing Guy Gardner? Guy is pretty edgy and abrassive.

therj00 - 7/30/2011, 11:12 AM
they need to let Johns write the first draft and then get a really good writer to fix all his mistakes, maybe Johnathan Nolan, get J.J. Abrams to direct, more emphasis on space and it should be good

So.... Superman Returns: Generally positive reviews by critics
$209 million to make. Gross: $391 million worldwide
Warner Bros. Reboots the shit out of it

Green Lantern: Rotten and panned by most critics
Cost the studio $300 million and it is considered a critical and financial flop... It has only made like $146 million
Warner Bros. decides to make a sequel

There is something wrong with this picture lol

ThePhantom1 - 7/30/2011, 11:15 AM
the Green Lantern took to much of Ryan's desire to want a woman in his bed every night attitude, and waste about half the movie dealing with Carol on that, time I honestly consider could have been better spent on training Hal to be a Green Lantern, what did they spend on training him 10 minutes, come on give me a break, even with taking Abin Sur as an alien, and having the smarts to get away from what would have been eons(figuratively) of time being questioned be the government that was bearing down on the position where Abin Sur crashed, figuring out how to recharge the ring with the simple instuctions Abin Sur said, then being whisked away to OA, it really would be a lot for a normal human to digest, not including folks who didn't know Green Lantern at all, figuring out how to make the constructs wouldn't have happened in the first try, just suffice it to say, more time should have been given to preparing Hal to face Parallax, just the opinion of one Green Lantern admirer through the years,
ThePhantom1
ThePhantom1 - 7/30/2011, 11:17 AM
this should have been a basics or beginning for the Green Lantern, and could have brought scores and scores of new fans for the comic, but I truly think it failed that too

jazzman - 7/30/2011, 11:19 AM
i bet if they do a sequel it going to be some sort of a reboot/sequel but the story wont be about Hal Jordan but Guy Gardner, John Stewart or Kyle Rayner.

also to make Green Lantern work they need to tone down or change the concept of how his powers work i.e. no silly construct.

also if you look at TRON: LEGACY Official Trailer theres some elements i.e. special fx and designs can work for Green Lantern movie.

I've cot a comment on a possible sequel for 'The Green Lantern' - it's called REBOOT! ...and while they're at it, get 'Mr. Perfect Abs' out of there! The 'group president for Warner Brothers' (a SUIT who probably never even READ a comic book, let alone KNOWS who Green Lantern is) has ideas on how to 'fix' a problem he HELPED create?! Yuo're @#$!-ing kidding me, right?! That makes about as much sense as letting a guy who knows NOTHGIN about a comic book character (David Kelly) try and develop a television show on said characater('Wonder Woman') - and we all know how well THAT worked out!!! @#$! the suits!!!!

[frick] yeah!

Green Lantern was most epic "Space SOAP OPERA" I have ever seen!

Primetime TV Drama/SitCom writing for the win!

Do a sequel so you can lose more money! Go WB/DC!

I hevent seen it yet (it does't come out in israel until next week..) but i want to see it very much

It seems that there is a big room for comedy and thats maybe the problem,i hope in the next one there indeed be more darker and action pack (like the avengers movie is going to be)

I think the best way to make it work would be a Hal Jordan monologue detailing the last movie just a little bit and what the corps means to him, meanwhile showing him fighting bad guys across his sector and once in a while going to other sectors to help Sinestro or Kilowag. A good way to make the Sinestro wielding the yellow ring is to have an event so big that Sinestro feels the need to put on the yellow ring despite Hal and Kilowag and others telling him not to. The first half of the movie could be his struggle, then the middle would be Sinestro single-handedly doing what he and Jordan couldn't, but then getting corrupted by the power he now wields and has to fight Hal Jordan, Jordan defeats him only temporarily and puts him in jail, but then the third movie causes some sort of break out from the Oa prison and Sinestro escapes detection and he can start planning his Sinestro Corps war against the Green Lanterns which would open the door for another trilogy. That's just my take, I think it would be uniquely Green Lantern and wouldn't suffer from the cliche that the GL movie was which in my opinion is probably what killed it. I'd like comments on my idea. :-)

This movie needed a montage of the Corps spreading justice to the galaxy similar to the Howling Commandos montage in The First Avenger. It would have helped general audiences get he Space Cop angle.

@Jer3miah "Only difference is GL was more realistic" than Captain America.. LOL!! i bet even you are laughing at that statement right now!! Cap could get into a facility b'cos they didn't have cameras everywhere and infrared sensors and retina scanners and electronic keycards and fingerprint scanners and motion detectors and temperature sensors and pressure sensors and every other possible security measure u can think of IN THE 1940s!! sheesh.. "Only difference is GL was more realistic" hahahahaha very funny

Have Ryan Reynolds play Hal Jordan and not Ryan Reynolds. Then have 60% take place in space. Bring in Atrocitus. Hal and Sinestro can fight him off all the while building up the relationship between Sinestro and Hal and have Sinestro ultimately turn on Hal when Hal doesn't join him. Good action and good story which leads to a third film where Sinestro and his Corps. are the main villains against the Green Lanterns.

@Intruder

to me the only way WB/DC Green Lantern or any DC film can work if Legendary Pictures are involved. first time when i heard the Green Lantern movie is been produce by only WB/DC i thought its not a good idea if they dont get Legendary Pictures involved.
