Concept Art From Canceled SUPERMAN Game

Check out this concept art from a Superman game that the company Factor 5 was working on before they shut down featuring Superman, Lex Luthor, Darkseid, and more!

The people over at Just Push Start have gotten their hands on some cool concept art from the canceled Superman game that the company Factor 5 was working on before they had to close their doors. The art is by artist Daveed Kaplan. The game was being developed under the code name "Blue Steel" and was heading for a 2008 release date.

Other than DC Universe Online and the Superman Returns video game Superman hasn't been represented in the video game medium very much, although it was announced a couple of days ago that he would be in Lego Batman 2. With the success of Batman Arkham City a lot of Superman fans have been wanting Rocksteady to take a crack at The Man of Steel. What do you guys thinks of this concept art? That game could have been good, I like the concept art for the villains, but not sure about Supes though.

a good superman should have been done years ago but most of these devs are too pussy to take on the challenge of superman.


if the rumars are true that rocksteady plans on tackling supes as there next game i can die a happyman


so long as they dont confuse him with batman and make him weak for gameplay purposes.

i dont want rock steady to make a supes game, they are more used to makeing real world games, the only way it could live up to the arkham games if it was made by bethesda, in a completly free roam metropilis, with a main story, and a bunch of quests, you could have it so everyonce in a while a boom tube opens up and you have to destroy the connected motherbox, much oblvion gates/dragon events in oblivion and skyrim, also during combat (first person) you would switch through your powers menu to select, laser vision, ice breath, superspeed, x ray vision, and others, only two at a time though, you could even have guild type stuff, for certain super hero teams, you would be able to fly, but only as long as your stanima aloud it, and invicibilty would be taken away, but you could also upgrade an what not

Rocksteady should definitely make a Superman game. Set it and other DC games in the same universe as Arkham City, that would be amazing.

Of course it was canceled and of course no one picked up the reigns for it. This would have made a crap load of money. Good ideas are always thrown away! Zack Snyder would have never have been able to be chosen for his horrible version of Man of Steel either. They'd be like, "Why does your Superman look like garbage?" and "Why aren't these cool characters in your script?"

THE 52 SUIT IS GARBAGE!!!

@Jimdlux I'm with you on noth having faith in this MoS and the DCnU Superman, not only the suit, sucking.

Can't wait for an amazing Supes game. Wanna have the upgrade thing? make him start by escaping from Cadmus or Braniac, been away from sunlight for a long time so he's weaker. Upgrade from there. Finish the game kicking as in the iconic suit.

pretty cwl, I'm kinda hoping for a superman game by rocksteady because, I really enjoyed archam city, but I think it would be more fun to be able to fly around motropolis. but I swear to god if they do another spiderman game (by anyone) Im going to die. they just have so many spiderman games and half of them such!

@ gamerguy753 I agree after batman arkham city supes need something fresh and new and I think rocksteady is able to do it. And they put out a Spiderman game every Damn year. @ jimdlux the new supes suit is straight up crap my daughter could come up with something better then that

If Rocksteady makes a Superman game I'm 80% sure they would put it in the same universe as Arkham City. Metropolis was even mentioned in the game at one point. Anyway, I wish this was made!

This game looked like it had a lot of potential.

It's a shame Superman has such a bad history when it comes to video games.

I never played Superman: Shadow of Apokolips(sold my PS2), but in my opinion the best Superman game I've played was The Death and Return of Superman(SNES).

Damn that video looked badass. I really hope Rocksteady tries their hand at a great Supes game. Us Superman fans have been waiting all our lives for a good one.

Everyone go play just cause 2 and fly a jet in spins and circles and imagine if those guys made a superman game... but with some help from WB with the voice acting though..

The concept is easy just make it open world and have metropolis stuck in a big dome because of braniac so you have this limited world to explore and in the beginning of the game supes gets stripped of most his powers due to red solar radiation and the sun not coming through the dome.. then you find hidden solar capsules to restore your heat vision, x ray vision, super speed, super strength, FLIGHT etc, etc, it would have a main story and alot of sidequests...

this stuff really writes itself. Either that or I'm a genius...

It amazes me how many of you complained that Supermans suit needed and update and complained that they needed to get rid of the red undies before they changed it. And now that they did most of you are saying, it was great the way it was, no need to mess with perfection. Give me a break, I swear some of you dont even know what you want.

What the F happen??? This looks sweet and the video looks amazing, recession? They could have made money from this. Man, did WB see anything to push this? Or they looked at what they can lose? WB should have funded more on the game, so that these company could have finished it. So sad.

I like the new look for superman, maybe you didn't see the people saying "they should have taken the red undies" cause they were mature enough not to be interested in games, so they didn't click on the article or maybe there a superman fan like me, who likes any. I still prefer a superman without the red undies. A much more update version. Another take is maybe this game is old and it's irrelevant since it's been cancelled.

The 52 suit is the best Superman has ever looked. The panties always made him look like a joke in comics and absolutely clown like ridiculous in any live action project.

The old school relic of a costume had no credibility with modern audiences and should be retired forever.
