RUMOR: Rocksteady's Next Game To Be TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

With Batman: Arkham City's wildly successfully run the obvious question is what is what will Rocksteady develop next. With Rocksteady riding Batman's coat tails all the way to video game supremacy a number of fans were asking for a Superman game. According to PGN Rocksteady is indeed developing another game, but not with The Man of Steel rather with The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The game is tentatively titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Crisis, and is expected to have more of a dark tone than a comedic one.

Here is what PGN has heard:

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Crisis is the alleged name of the title.
- Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo are the four playable characters, each with their own varied move set and weapon of choice (sword, bo staff, sai, and nunchucku…respectively).
- Flashbacks are played as Master Splinter/Hamato Yoshi.
- Shurikens, smoke bombs, grappling hooks, and climbing foot spikes.
- Gameplay and story/stage progression similar to Batman: Arkham City.
- Classic characters such as Bebop and Rocksteady (warthog and rhinoceros), Dr. Baxter Stockman, Shredder (Oroku Saki), and Krang act as bosses and in the case of the humans-turned-mutants, you fight them in both forms throughout the story.
- The Turtle Van and Turtle Blimp will be present and with them and other gadgets, the Wii U build is expected to have touch screen controls for specific actions.
- Multiplayer is unknown.
- Graphics engine used is that of Arkham City.
- The game is expected to be more dark than slapstick, but the turtles themselves and their interactions with the Foot Clan, bosses, and story characters like April O’Neil and Casey Jones will still have comedy attached.
- Purportedly being in development for Wii U, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
- Careful selection of voice actors to bring the universe to life as well as Rocksteady did with their two Batman games.
- Manhattan Crisis shares a similar name to the 1991/1992 NES title, “The Manhattan Project”, but is very much its own title.

Once again this is only a rumor and has not been confirmed by anyone at Rocksteady. Another rumor that is floating around is that Rocksteady is also only interested in developing another DC character. Check out PGN's list of why this rumor could be real or why it could be fake by clicking HERE.

RyanLantern77 - 1/23/2012, 10:06 AM
That would be dope
Dedpool - 1/23/2012, 10:06 AM
Okay so wait, this is based on the 80's cartoon? UGH! Why not base off the 2002 cartoon which was INFINITELY better! I really don't want to fight Fly Baxter, or the silly Foot robots. The 2002 toon wove a much better narative, closer to the comics, was darker without alienating kids, and had cooler characters. Their Baxter Stockman was soo much cooler than the 80's version.

thewolfx - 1/23/2012, 10:22 AM
sigh i was hoping rocksteady would have the balls to make a great superman game

i guess they are scared to take the challenge also

well this isnt bad news though i do love me some TMNT
Shadowelfz - 1/23/2012, 10:22 AM
Hmm... sounds cool but even though I was a huge fan as a kid I just cant get into the turtles anymore. Ill definately give it a shot, though, if Rocksteadys making it.
Clayface27 - 1/23/2012, 10:24 AM
although this is pretty cool and i have faith that they will do a good job with it, I would rather a superman game. There arent ANY superman games that are good except for the old arcade games.
Dmon - 1/23/2012, 10:28 AM
@yossarian LOL. When I saw the title I was going to come to comments and say the same thing. I guess no one caught that but us.
RunDTC - 1/23/2012, 10:32 AM

ThunderCougarFalconBird - 1/23/2012, 10:34 AM
If they keep the batman tone this could be an amazing game!
thewolfx - 1/23/2012, 10:35 AM
this game better have co-op or its a fail already
AsonUnique - 1/23/2012, 10:36 AM
The day i finished playing Arkham City I prayed to the video game gods that Rocksteady would make this game!! Hope rumors become reality and i finally get a TMNT game worth playing.
themayer88 - 1/23/2012, 10:36 AM
Hells yeah. gotta love the Turtles!
MB007 - 1/23/2012, 10:46 AM
Awesome! Loved the Turtles since I was a kid! Hope it's New York free-roaming! :-)
JatevinM - 1/23/2012, 10:46 AM
I am a huge Ninja Turtles fan and this just made my day. I vote they hire Mark Hamill to voice The Shredder.
carl69 - 1/23/2012, 10:47 AM
Awesome! And mark hamill could only be crang of coarse.
AxlKomix - 1/23/2012, 10:48 AM
I like the darker tone, but I don't like the fact that it would draw influence from the '80s cartoon. Seriously, for anyone that's read the original comics by Eastman and Laird, it's well known that the cartoon was a blasphemous departure from the source material. I agree with Dedpool in that if anything it should be based on the 2002 series. However, I'd much prefer Rocksteady just follow the comics. They did a good job of using Batman's storyline's from the comics to influence the Arkham series, so why use a shitty cartoon as influence for a TMNT game?
Shaman - 1/23/2012, 10:53 AM
Dmon- As FriendlyJoShFest just showed, i think pretty much everyone caught that.
ironpool007 - 1/23/2012, 10:55 AM
If this is true, then I will more than likely get this on the Wii U. I hope its a launnch title.
113 - 1/23/2012, 10:56 AM
I'm sure they could do a great Ninja Turtles game but I want to see them tackle Superman please.
WaylonJones - 1/23/2012, 10:57 AM
Everyone @ I giggled when I wrote the title was not sure how to word it with out it sounding weird :P
jessepostal - 1/23/2012, 11:01 AM
@axlkomixI don't think the show would have been as hugefad it was if it were more like the comics, I think the show made the comic a lot more popular
JDUKE25 - 1/23/2012, 11:03 AM
Dang it......BUT it could be alright.

Leonardo FTW!!!
Destroyer14 - 1/23/2012, 11:09 AM
Just make sure it leans toward the 2003 incarnation. Shredder is boss there.
sexfoodcomics - 1/23/2012, 11:10 AM
I want this game now.
souhunter - 1/23/2012, 11:10 AM
So cool & F batman
WonderMoose - 1/23/2012, 11:12 AM
Funny. I was just playing Arkham City and when the rocksteady logo popped up i chuckled and muttered "and bebop" xD First thing that came to my head when i saw this article was the turtles all beefy like rocksteady's batman.
smithonator - 1/23/2012, 11:16 AM
Hopefully, this information is true because Rocksteady could significantly benefit from diverging their franchise focuses. Plus, a Teeneage Mutant Ninja Turtles game with Batman Arkham City like stuff would VERY cool.
rbfn04 - 1/23/2012, 11:17 AM
Rather they went the comics way, darker, turtles. But YES!!!!! Also, Superman game, NOW!
