By Jake "WaylonJones" Lester - 6/7/2012

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields. Denis Leary, and will be released on July 3, 2012.

I already have faith in this movie.. but that clip is just.. phenomenal. I'm glad Pete is a genius in this movie.
HavocPrime - 6/7/2012, 10:49 AM
I like it, Peter is definately being portrayed as an egg head in this one.
Dev7 - 6/7/2012, 10:51 AM
@Spidey31, thats my opinion, if you can't accept other people's opinion then please don't ever go to another internet forum or message board. Thank you.

Still in the grey about this...I see things that I like, then I see something that turns me off...This movie needs to make up it's mind...so I have 3 reasons to see it, and 3 not to see it...I can't really decide if It's worth my $11 or not...

Reasons to see it: 1. Rhys Ifans as Dr. Connors & is actually the Lizard this time, plus, for a short period wears his lab coat...

2. The first-person Spider-Man scenes look amazing, & will look even better in 3D...

3. I want to see him actually developing his costume & web-shooters, unlike the original trilogy...

Reasons to not see it: 1. Casting...Garfield is extremely passionate for the character, but from what I've seen in the trailers and clips, he just isn't Parker for me...Stone as Stacy...seriously?...I know Marvel doesn't want Stacy to be all super sexy like in the comics, but Emma Stone, that girl is butt ugly and has a god awful voice...I don't even want to get started on Park's Aunt & Uncle...

2. His parents...Why even mention or dive into his parents story when they were members of S.H.I.E.L.D. an organization that can never merge with a Sony product...

3. The humor...god has it been horrendous so far...I know it's the natural Parker, but it could be better...I hope more the comedy ends up like the "Giant Lizard" clip...

I'm loving everything about this so far. But I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague, because I want to stay clueless about the film like I did for Th Avengers. This is MY most anticipated movie of the year and the preview and last tv spot sold me. I can wait. LESS THAN ONE MONTH!!!!
angus666 - 6/7/2012, 11:03 AM
I'm almost liking the clips when he isn't Spider Man more than when is Spider Man. He makes a great Parker, love that they're actually making him a genius now.
Kingdork - 6/7/2012, 11:05 AM
WTF people? This is all good and all, but Peter has been shown as science wiz before. You guys forget about Spider-Man 2, him figuring out how fusion worked while Ock was presenting his stuff? And he even sort of out-smarted him predicting a potential unstable reaction.
SpiderFan35 - 6/7/2012, 11:07 AM
@blackand yellow: lol, nice.

DragonofDarknessXIII - 6/7/2012, 11:10 AM
Why couldn't we get Connors/Lizard in Spider-Man 3?
Ashes2Phoenix - 6/7/2012, 11:11 AM
@Kingdork:: That is practically the only time in the whole trilogy that they show his intelligence. It was much more subtle.

This looks like they are bringing Peter's intelligence to the front.
SpiderFan35 - 6/7/2012, 11:13 AM
@kingdork: You are correct. One of the things I have always liked about Peter Parker is that he is smart but does not always use it as much as he should ("brilliant but lazy"), and he is also funny and seems like a normal guy too.

In reality, most people of very high intelligence are socially awkward and weird, it's not an insult, it's just the nature of their brains and personalities. Unfortunately, I think they are trying to make Garfield's Parker more like this, which may be more realistic, but is frickin hard to watch. :)

Emanuel14 - 6/7/2012, 11:16 AM
@Dev7 you obviosly don't know how to judge acting
Spidey31 - 6/7/2012, 11:25 AM
@dev it's my opinion that your opinion sucks and where in my previous comment did I insult your opinion? I just said you were a obvious troll I didn't say " oh your wrong, it's wonderfull acting". Don't like me not liking your Please don't go on the Internet if you can't handle people not liking your opinion in fact don't leave your house because that's life.
Equivocal - 6/7/2012, 11:27 AM
I was very very skeptical about this, but little by little I'm getting over the reboot and looking forward to this.

and I could care less if it makes the billion mark OR not.
kyle12688 - 6/7/2012, 11:27 AM
I still can't get over the fact that the guy is 30 playing 17 I just can't
Ashes2Phoenix - 6/7/2012, 11:33 AM
Did you like Back To The Future ? Michael J Fox was 28 when he was playing a 17 year old in that.

That's a pretty petty issue if you ask me !
fanboy03191 - 6/7/2012, 11:37 AM
Wow, acting looks stellar in this! Excellent! But lets try not to overdo it with the clips...
iJackSparrow - 6/7/2012, 11:38 AM
He is 28 years old and he could totally pass by a 17 years old. He is skinny and has a face that makes that believable. He'll be 30 years old by The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in 2014, then 32 by the third part of the trilogy. He can easily play the young Peter Parker part. Most of all, he is a fan and he is willing to do it, unlike Tobey who almost didn't came back for SM2.

From the trailers and TV spots, I get that he is believable as Peter Parker AND Spider-Man, which is incredible to me, because I was never entirely convinced by Maguire's Spider-Man.

Hey, is anyone around following the virals? That's how I'm keeping myself updated with stuff of the film, instead of seeing the clips. I'm loving Rhys portrayal of Curt Connors, the last video reports were [frick]ing awesome, I can't wait until more stuff show up.

only drawback to the avengers knocking off tdk is all the but hurt post on the marvel threads owell.
ralfinader - 6/7/2012, 11:50 AM
I am totally sold on this. The director has captured a Peter Parker I want to see. Am a fan of Toby's, but this kid is really selling me on nerdy Parker.
Dev7 - 6/7/2012, 11:50 AM
@Spidey31 are you a little kid. You seem to be pretty immature in your opinion. By calling someone a troll based on their opinion is an insult. Don't insult someone when they didn't insult you. Just because they don't like something you do that doesn't give you the right to insult them.
LAWLZY96 - 6/7/2012, 11:53 AM
all these clips are looking good
PreparationH - 6/7/2012, 11:58 AM
Why CBM GOTTA DO ME DIRTY LIKE THAT AND DELETE MY POST MANE!

It is only of Gusto writing his hallmark cards

figuresmaniac - 6/7/2012, 11:58 AM
Awesome, the only part of me wanted this movie to fail is so that Spidey goes back to Marvel Studios. Other than that, very pumped for this
figuresmaniac - 6/7/2012, 12:02 PM
What the hell is wrong with this site today? Is it hallmark day?

with every clip i'm getting more and more impressed and sold on the movie. garfield looks like he's gonna make a great peter parker, i had faith from the start but he seems to be doing well on confirming my faith!
Nicksta411 - 6/7/2012, 12:10 PM
@Dev
Actually Dev you are being immature by commenting about his correct "Obvious Troll" remark, because you are a Troll, Trolling about the acting being bad when it is no where even close to being bad. you are for the sake of it Trolling. Your name should not be Dev, It should be Dr. Troll Trolling McTrollerson.
Hudson3D - 6/7/2012, 12:26 PM
Looks good to me... I can't wait.
Spider man
superman MOS
iron man 3
thor and cap 2
But still feel nothing for TDKR so far.
Masterpace - 6/7/2012, 12:30 PM
"Second? You're sure about that?" Love it...I hope whole movie will be as amazing as clips and trailers.
batfan175 - 6/7/2012, 12:45 PM
gialogue's a bit clunky but Rhys Ifan's delivery is great. what an actor.
Masterpace - 6/7/2012, 1:14 PM
@chloefornication...When Dr. ask who Peter is Gwen says that Peter[without using his name]is one of the brightest students in their school...and adds that he's second best...and Peter says: "Second? You're sure about that?"
Masterpace - 6/7/2012, 1:15 PM
Oh and then she says that she is sure...

Bobevanz - 6/7/2012, 1:57 PM
Oh yeaaahuhhh!
iJackSparrow - 6/7/2012, 2:18 PM
I'm 30 years old and I can't grow a beard for the life of me. I'd kill Spider-Man himself for Emma Stone to be my beard. With that said, they look the coolest couple of all time.

Can you imagine? Being a huge fan of Spider-Man, getting to play the role and REALLY getting to [frick] Gwen Stacy? Like living with Gwen Stacy and what not. And Gwen Stacy is Emma [frick]ing Stone. This is insane, Andrew is living the fanboy dream, I'm truly jealous of him.

the dark knight rises fears the amazing spider-man.
jumpingJellybeans - 6/7/2012, 4:27 PM
@Rotten Emma is butt-ugly? She acts relatively like Gwen, she looks like Gwen, and she's named Maxim's 7th hottest woman alive. Pretty sure she isn't ugly. Oh, and the comedy being awful? I don't know about you, but from what I've seen almost EVERYWHERE was that people were praising the comedic approach.
@Dev He does respect your opinion, as do I, it's just that your opinion is god-awful and has no basis, that's all.
brewtownpsych - 6/7/2012, 6:59 PM
each of these clips is lamer and more hackneyed than the last. i love the parting of the red sea right before a pubescent peter parker wows his peers with his knowledge of cutting edge genetics ... creepy scientist to scientist man/boy crush then blossoms, like it has in ever spider-man movie it seems. seriously silly stuff.

does anybody really, i mean really not have this entire movie already mapped out in their head? prepare to be underwhelmed as i'm sure the list of surprises will be few and far between.
PeterParker1991 - 6/7/2012, 7:36 PM
Now THAT is Peter Parker. Not a single tear drop in sight. Very pleased
