Kevin Feige Confirms CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Is A Political Thriller

Not much is known about where exactly Captain America's next solo movie will take us. Marvel movie head Kevin Feige was talking about how diverse their films are, and confirmed that The Winter Soldier will be more of a political thriller.

Variety recently caught up with Marvel movie head Kevin Feige to talk a little bit about his schedule, and working to get Phase Two off the ground. He was also asked about the whether or not he thought the superhero movie was just a fad. He said he didn't believe that the genre is a fad, because each one is so different. He then compared the first Captain America movie to the next one, which is about to start shooting. "Our first Captain America film was a World War II picture, and the next is a political thriller. They all have their own textures and patinas, and that's what is exciting about it," Feige explained.

A number of actors have been confirmed to join Cap in his next solo adventure. Anthony Mackie and Emily VanCamp are the new comers to the Marvel world. They will be joined by vets Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson. Haley Atwell will also be a part of the movie, but will only be a cameo/flashback. The film will start filming sometime in April, and is slated for an April 4, 2014 release date.

I have a feeling the Winter Soldier will be plotting to the President and Shield and Cap are tasked with keeping the President safe and trying to stop Bucky before he goes through with it.

Joe Johnston, a director known for making old-school action films, gets to make an old-school action movie like Captain America.

The Russo brothers, who directed that god-awful comedy You, Me, and Dupree, get to craft a political thriller with The Winter Soldier.

Finally some good news coming from Marvel. Captain America is still one of my fave CBM, only second to TIH.

the winter soldier storyline is fantastic,its just the russo brothers directing that concerns me.

@CaptainObvious...well Jon Favreau directed only Elf and Zathura...and he brought Iron Man...
Kenneth Branagh wasn't used to direct CBMs but it did a fair work IMO

Then they took someone expert with action movies, but that usually only write movies, and then..the Mandarin popped out...
So, i'm betting a lot on the Russo bros. because if someone that directed a romantic comedy can impress positively marvel with a cap movie idea, then it should be original ;)

I have complete faith in Marvel and the Russo Bros. just from Community alone, that's a show for geeks made by geeks. Unlike that shit show The Big Bang theory, which is a show written by ass holes that think that's how nerds and geeks are.

People also don't like Cap because he doesn't have Super Super powers, but that's why he's the greatest character. He doesn't need that shit to command a god and tame a beast.

Anybody doubting the Russo Brothers needs to watch Community, and the way they balance a big cast with some of the best writing available.

Also watch Welcome to Collinwood. Another great ensemble movie, just ask Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, and Mr. George Clooney.

So film with a good story is a WB comic book film monopoly? Huh, by whose logic is that? From time immemorial film exists to bring good story, and it doesn't start by WB comic book films.

I think it's more like WB is trying to copy Marvel by attempting Justice League movie when it should delay making it for two decades when you have already collected pension money bound to a wheelchair like typical old DC geezers.

Spider-Man 2 and the first two X-Men films already had 'story over action' before any (modern) Batman film.

And I'm someone who likes Nolan more than any Marvel film, but you talk like if The Dark Knight Saga' (or DC) invented a trope which is as old as the genre itself. Lol.

So, since these movies in your words "feel more story driven" rather than action driven it automatically makes it a carbon copy of Nolans style? [frick] off dude, i hope when you hit your 20s you start realizing how stupid you sound and regret ever voicing your terribly skewed opinions. So every movie before Nolan was never story driven at all hmmm? They must be copying WB and Nolan. There's no other explanation because movies dating back to the 30s and 40s like Double Indemnity and Sunset Blvd absolutely had no bearing on Nolans style of film making, he came up with it all on his own. You see where Im going with this right? I dont think i need to say any more.

In other news, this is my most anticipated film of Phase 2. Im extremely amped up for all of them but Cap is still one character i think that hasnt hit his full potential yet action wise, fighting style, and the depths of his character. I want this movie to answer this question for me: what happens when you push Captain America too far?

And Btw if you think the Big bang Theory is a "horrible" representation of nerds then it obviously hits a little too close to home for you. Im a huge nerd and im nothing loke those "morons" which is why i can enjoy the show and appreciate the comicbook references. @LEVITIKUZ Considering in Thor and iron man 2 there is about 2-3 action scenes in each movie and they make up about 15-20 mins of them and they are both roughly around 2 hours. So how are they action over story?

wonder if they will make captain america actually look credible because he looks no stronger than widow or hawkeye, there was only 1 supersoldier in phase 1 and his name was emile blonsky, looked far more impressive than captain america when fighting and taking on the hulk, one on one

I think many parents should simply keep their kids off the internet and maybe even think for themselves or do ACTUAL RESEARCH to backup their claims.

Nolan did not create dark comic book movies - The Crow did, his Batman films aren't deep either.
They are pseudo-intellectual, like most of the Nolanites, appearing to be smart until you see them a few times.
