While there has been some speculation on who will be playing Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, nothing was ever set in stone. That all changes today as The Hollywood Reporter has reported that actor Chris Cooper will be playing the Oscorp CEO. Variety first reported he joined the cast, but was unsure of what character he was playing.

In the comics, Norman famously becomes the Green Goblin. However, there are no plot details at this time to suggest that he will make an appearance in the film as the Goblin. Cooper joins the already jam packed cast that features returning stars Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Sally Field as Aunt May. Also rounding out the cast are new comers Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane. The film is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2014.

Very interesting choice. Certainly looks like somebody who can play Dane DeHaan's father.

Interesting, still think be better to have all new fresh characters...

Can't wait to see what they do with Electro, Rhino???

It's obviously not him, but thus image from TASM could be a young Chris Cooper. I approve.

Nic cage would've been good for this or joker. Mostly because he's insane.
KeefNCookies - 2/27/2013, 11:12 AM

jerryblake - 2/27/2013, 11:17 AM
TAS 2 - Rhino and Electro. MJ. Harry. Norman gets cured.
TAS 3 - Green Goblin, Gwen Stacy Death
TAS 4 - ???
IronDean2099 - 2/27/2013, 11:18 AM
He'd make a good Jameson.
NeoBaggins - 2/27/2013, 11:18 AM
Well, look at that. A casting choice that at least makes some sense.
SpideyMan123 - 2/27/2013, 11:19 AM
So this means.... Colm Feore is JJJ or The Vulture
ForeverPowerful - 2/27/2013, 11:20 AM
Wow, that is some awesome casting. He's going to be awesome.
jerryblake - 2/27/2013, 11:20 AM
third3ye

Dafoe is phenomenal actor but still ... he overplayed this part a little
Morbius - 2/27/2013, 11:22 AM
Cool very good actor I just cant see him as the Goblin. But he will make a fine Norman.
MatchesMalone - 2/27/2013, 11:23 AM
Great casting. Solid actor.
IronLantern79 - 2/27/2013, 11:24 AM
Okay, acting wise it's a great choice, but physically, if they end up making him the Green Goblin later on, I don't think he can do it. Which makes me believe even more that when we see Gobby, it'll be Ultimate "monster" version in CGI.

Gusto ... all those years i could not believe in execs words that the original green goblin suit was not looking good on screen ... until i saw tbs footage
StPete20 - 2/27/2013, 11:25 AM
Maybe Webb is forming his version of the Sinister Six? The Lizard's still around. Now you have Electro, Rhino and Goblin. Webb could change things up a bit and make Harry be the new Eddie Brock and become Venom. We still don't know who Felicity Jones is playing and we also don't know what's going to become of Irrfan Khan's Rajit Ratha. I'm liking all the possibilities though.
JaySin420 - 2/27/2013, 11:27 AM
Well he kind of looks like the silhouette in the first movie so good job there.
Tainted87 - 2/27/2013, 11:27 AM
Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointed, and trying not to regress into childhood, and failing.

I've never liked a single role I've seen him in. Someone educate me, because I feel like I'm missing something here.

SpideyMan123 - 2/27/2013, 11:28 AM
inb4 SpideyTrav Comes and Rants that Michael Massee should be Norman Osborn
jerryblake - 2/27/2013, 11:28 AM
St Pete20
Harry as Eddie Brock as Venom ?
My heart stopped at the moment ...
OtakuPapi - 2/27/2013, 11:28 AM
I think one actor should Play Norman Obsborn and another should play Green Goblin! Since they are drastically different extremes of the same character
TheRedSkull - 2/27/2013, 11:28 AM
Not bad not bad
genesis609 - 2/27/2013, 11:32 AM
shoicker & rhino would make more sense... just saying
Spideyguy94 - 2/27/2013, 11:32 AM
@LEVITIKUZ You won't be the only one.
DoctorDoak - 2/27/2013, 11:33 AM
He's a great actor and a decent choice for Norman I guess... My top pick was always Christolph Waltz though :/
jerryblake - 2/27/2013, 11:33 AM
LEVITIKUZ
that what i was saying too
BatmanBlueLantern - 2/27/2013, 11:35 AM
I am not angry with this. I haven't seen any of his stuff, but he looks the part.
