Steven Spielberg Says The TINTIN Sequel Script Is Done; Hopes To Shoot At The End Of The Year

When we first got the news that there was going to be a batch of films based on The Adventures of Tintin, it was known that Steven Spielberg would direct the first one with Peter Jackson stepping in for the second one. Even though Spielberg wont be directing the film, he will still serve as an Executive Producer. While chatting with The Times of India, Spielberg said they have a completed script. "Peter Jackson is directing the next one, I'm producing. We have a script," said Spielberg. The next story will combine two books, although Spielberg remained tight-lipped about which two books it would be.

A couple of months ago Peter Jackson said that they hope to have the second Tintin movie out in 2015. Spielberg echoed that goal by saying, "Don't hold me to it, but we're hoping the film will come out around Christmas-time in 2015." He also said that they are hoping to shoot the motion capture for the film late this year.

While Spielberg didn't say which books they were adapting this time around, he was pressed for more information with people throwing names of the famous Herge books out there. One of the titles was The Blue Lotus. Spielberg just smiled and said that they will probably wait to do that one for the third film. I finally saw this when it showed up on Amazon Prime for free. It was pretty much just like I thought it would be. Boring as shit.

@fettastic I remember reading Tintin when I was a kid. Lots of good memories. You can check em out if you want. This was entertaining and cool - brought back memories. Loved it!

Isn't Peter Jackson's schedule a little stretched already completing his Hobbit trilogy?
AlexDeLarge87 - 3/12/2013, 7:43 AM
Yay!

I have a feeling they are going to adapt Seven Crystal Balls and Prisoners of the Sun. That would be epic.

Cigars of the Pharaoh and the Blue Lotus for the third. Cant wait to see Rastapopoulos and Mitsuhirato in the big screen. Great bad guys. :)

When I see Rastapopoulos, I think of a Greek raggae singer.

Yippee!!! I love Tintin and I loved how Spielberg and Jackson updated this family friendly (minus the booze) adventure
fettastic - 3/12/2013, 8:27 AM
That's right, I forgot about the booze. That was really awkward. It was like "Isn't alcoholism hilarious boys and girls?"
Maia87 - 3/12/2013, 8:32 AM
The Blue Lotus?? Captain Haddock isn't in it...

The first Tintin movie was one of the best movies of 2011. Spielberg was at his absolute best. I just re-watched it again on Netflix and it was even better than when I saw it in theaters. Such a great and under-rated movie.

American movie-goers didn't give it a chance (there were like 3 people in the theater where I saw it). Thank God for the critics and the foreign audience

I absolutely loved the first Tintin movie, and am very happy to hear of progress towards seeing a sequel. Very happy to hear that Peter Jackson will direct.
