Chapter 4: The Batman Unleashed

A man in a police suit sat at a desk with his head in his hands. His name was Commissioner Jim Gordon and he was trying to deal with a rumour that Black Mask was returning to crime. He thought that if he was, then all would be lost. It was all over the news, and somebody needed to step up and stop him. Somebody like Batman, but Thomas Wayne was dead. Jim knew the secret of the Wayne’s as he was always a close friend of Thomas’s since Gordon was young. Bruce’s grandfather had insisted on Thomas going to a public school, so that he wouldn’t be so different from everybody else after all. It was there where he met Gordon and became best friends. He changed when his father told Thomas in his early twenties that he had to become the next Batman. He was more secretive and mean. But in his later years before his death, he set up all his charities and became a humanitarian which restored their friendship. He just wished he could be friends with Bruce. But he didn’t feel that he could be friends with the son of a person he let die.

The Batmobile raced out of the hill next to Wayne Manor. He had noticed something on the Bat computer that couldn’t be missed. Joe Chill had been spotted. Bruce could recognise that face anywhere. He didn’t know what he was up to, but he was going to avenge his parent’s death. Lucius had made a few alterations to the automobile: there were rocket launchers, high-tech machine guns and guns that shot out electricity shots, a laser of sorts. The sleek black car raced down Soprano Road which was filled with smoke and Chill was on the next block. A GPS system had been installed so he could keep track of criminals. The Batmobile made its way onto the oncoming road and saw Joe Chill near the end. Batman accelerated the car, and it made a noise so disturbing that when Chill looked behind him and saw what it was he ran as fast as he could to the left. A square rocket launcher, with 6 tubes in so that rockets could be fired out of them, was raised out of the roof. One of the missiles flew out of it and hit the building Chill was running to. He flew backwards due to the force of the flames and smoke making its way out of the building. The stylized converted limousine stopped a few feet away from his parent’s murderer. Chill was cowering on the ground in fear. The glass protector was raised and Batman walked out, to Joe’s horror.

“Who-who are you? You’re his ghost aren’t you! YOU ARE!” He was crying and covered in rain water and mud. Batman saw this as a great opportunity to taunt him.

“Of course I am you filthy criminal!” Batman picked him up by his collar, beat him and thrust him at the wall.

“Stop doing this! LEAVE ME ALONE!! I’m sorry, I had no choice!”

“Everyone has a choice in life!”

“You don’t.” Chill was grinning at this point. Batman was fierce with anger and kicked him in the face. He pulled out a small capsule from his belt.

“This. This is filled with gunpowder. And if I press this little button, right here.” He pointed at a small red button near the bottom of the capsule. “Then I can shove it in your mouth and blow you to god knows what.”

“But you wouldn’t do that. Bruce told you not to kill anybody when you fought me on the tube all those years ago!” Batman couldn’t believe that he was buying this. Chill must be mad.

“I’m not Thomas. How does that meddle with your demented brain?” Chill’s face turned from pure glee to sheer terror.

“Who are you? Really.” Batman put the capsule in Chill’s mouth.

“I’m the Batman.” He pressed the button. It started to beep loudly. He walked away from Chill and walked up the front of the Batmobile into the driver seat. As he was doing this, Chill exploded in an eruption of flames and smoke. A stern look was on Batman’s face. Batman had played right into Black Mask’s hands. By murdering Chill, Mask was the only logical replacement for Crime Lord. Now he could set his plan into motion.

The Gotham City Police Department was chaotic. Reports were coming in that the Batmobile had been sighted near Soprano Road and a fight had ensued between Batman and the wanted criminal Joe Chill. An explosion had happened which had killed Chill while Batman made his getaway. Gordon knew that this was fake because it was impossible for anybody to make that suit and the Batmobile in that design and make it an exact replica with a limited amount of money. And Thomas Wayne and Alfred Pennyworth had made severe implications and adjustments to Wayne Manor and the Batcave so that Bruce would never find it. Thomas knew what he was doing, and he was putting the history of the Wayne’s in danger, but he had to do this to protect them. Gordon had already been assigned to protect Bruce by Thomas, but becoming friends with him would make him suspicious, and if Thomas had survived that fateful night, then he would have Gordon sacked from the GCPD entirely. This was all his fault. Suddenly, a female police officer burst into his office.

“Sir, it’s real. We caught it on CCTV. But we need you to look at the video to make sure that it’s the same suit and the same car.”

“Alright. It’s for the good of Gotham.” The woman put an Acer laptop on his desk. A video played, starting at the point when Batman left the Batmobile to fight Chill. It was in very bad quality, but he paused it at the part when Chill exploded, so there was more light. Gordon zoomed in and rotated the camera so that he could see a full view of Batman’s outfit. It was exactly the same, except for a few minor alterations. The Batmobile was the same as well, except for the rocket launchers etc. Nobody in the city could afford to make a car like that. He came to his conclusion. “Bruce.” He whispered. “How. Why?”
