Stephen Norrington Has Left The Crow Reboot!

The reboot to the smash hit "Crow" is now left without director.

Mania.com is reporting that director of the upcoming "Crow" reboot has left the project. When asked if Mark Wahlberg was indeed offered the lead role the director replied with this:

"I don't know about that story but I can tell you I'm no longer involved with The Crow,"

The director even revealed that an unnamed star was involved in the project but eventually rejected the script:

"As I had gotten involved explicitly as a writer-director my exit was inevitable. I was bummed. I had developed a genuinely authentic take that respected the source material while moving beyond it, and Nick Cave came in and added more depth, I think the fans would have been pleasantly surprised."

He also had this to say on Mark Wahlberg:

"I will say I think Wahlberg could be cool if they take a gritty blue-collar approach, He's a truthful actor. I think he could really ground the supernatural stuff."

Too bad he left the project. I actually thought it had some potential (without Wahlberg of course). But now... I really don't know.

I think this movie would have been more suited to Darren Aronofsky instead of XMO: Wolverine 2, too late for that now.

hmmm if they are going to do the Eric Draven character id like to see Mark Paul Gosselaar given a shot at the role.

He reminds me a bit of Brandon in this picture below, and the guys a very good actor.

thank [frick]ing god!!! this stupid [frick] wanted to take the gothic tone out of the crow....hey dumb [frick] the gothic tone is what sets it apart from everything else you stupid idotic [frick]hole. im so glad they got rid of this jackwagon(ive been wanting to use that term sense i saw the commercial). there is a god

WTF?!?!?!?! GODDAMNIT!!!! I was anticipating this more than THOR!!! Sunnuvabtich!!! Norrington is PERFECT for The Crow!!!

spiderman620- Where the hell did he ever say he would have taken away the gothic tone to The Crow??? Have you seen his Blade and LXG films??? He's all about gothic tones!!! And what about Nick Cave??? Think HE would take away the goth??? Not on his life!

This film had everything it needed (before Wahlberg was mentionned) to not be a "replacement" of the original but to actually be the first sequel to ever reach "Spectacular" levels. Now it's all in the gutter. Bravo Hollywood, bra [frick]ing vo!

Shaman your crazy! Remaking this movie would be terrible! Brandon Lee did his greatest role in the Crow and died in the making and it would be a terrible thing to push his greatest and last work aside to make some [Sh&*^] reboot with an actor that could not even portray half of the character that brandon lee created. Hollywood needs to reboot crappy movies like spiderman with tobey which sucked not an amazing movie like the crow!

still rebooting the film would be a horrible mistake because the original is (in my opinion) a cult classic, how many people would be pissed off if they said....well..were gonna reboot casablanka (sorry if i miss spelled that)

Stephen Norrington Remaking Alex Proyas' The Crow

It only takes 14 years for a film to be remade. Alex Proyas' The Crow, starring Brandon Lee, is up next, with Relativity Media negotiating with producer Ed Pressman to acquire the film franchise. Stephen Norrington has signed on to both write and direct the "reinvention" of the film, which was originally based on the comic created by James O'Barr. The original film, which hit theaters in 1994, is about a rock musician who is murdered trying to rescue his girlfriend from thugs but returns from the dead a year later to avenge his and his girlfriend's death. "Whereas Proyas' original was gloriously gothic and stylized, the new movie will be realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style," Norrington said."

that was from firstshowing.net....also norrington said that I think it's a very different conception [than the original film]. After the first 'Crow,' there were so many other films that were inspired by it, by its look. Steve is an artist himself, and he's created a very different visual idea. The Crow itself is a creature in this movie — it's not just a bird. It's got a personality and a character. Not like Godzilla exactly, but it's very different [and has] a more active role in the story."

the crow is one of my favorite books to read and to me all this sounds as far from the book as you can get so, yeah the reboot shouldnt be made

I'm a die hard Bruce, and Brandon Lee fan, and I loved the crow, and was deeply sadden when Brandon died. Saw the movie in theaters, and own all the parts in the series on dvd.

With that said I wouldn't mind if they remade it because this is a good movie series, and eventually things like this should be remade for a modern audience.

It's been almost two decades since the first movie so why not remake it? Brandon Lee would have been for it trust me.
