Marvel have released a first look at 100th Anniversay Special Spider-Man #1, from rising star creators Sean Ryan and In-Hyuk Lee. What does the wallcrawler look like in the far-flung future of 2061? Well, the Kingpin has taken control of his ultra-powerful techno-symbiote suit...

One of his most powerful weapons in the hands of one of his most powerful enemies, Spider-Man will have to prove once again why he’s the greatest superhero in the world!

“We’re jumping into a story already in progress for this issue,’” explains writer Sean Ryan in an interview with Marvel.com. “We’re treating this issue as if it was the last issue in a long arc that has been running in the Spider-Man books for a while. This issue sees the story coming to an end. The idea of the story being that the symbiote is back, but it’s been infused with technology that gives its host the power to plug in to the grid and control anything connected to it. And this being the future, that’s just about everything.

Each week in July sees a new 100th Anniversary Special featuring fan-favorite creators and rising stars as they envision the Marvel Universe of 2061! With the Kingpin in possession of a deadly weapon capable of limitless control, it’s up to the one and only Spider-Man to stop him. But how can he?

Find out as the wallcrawler of tomorrow fights for his life when the 100th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL – SPIDER-MAN #1 hits comic shops this July!

Pretty cool, interesting idea. Don't see why had to pick the Kingpin as it makes the suit look a bit silly but if the story is decent i can go with it

I'm confused. Why does Flash Thompson have legs? How did they get the symbiote from Flash?

I still don't get why Marvel are celebrating their 75th anniversary by writing stories set 100 years after their first comic stories (I mean, what will they do on the actual 100th anniversary?!) BUT these do look pretty good. I hope they collect them all into a trade or a few trades, would be interested in picking them up some time.

I don't think I'll get this. It's a good imaginative story but for any Spidey fans it ain't gonna be essential! Well, knows?

I am a fan of Venom but I will go ahead and say it: This look dumb, why does the suit need to be having techno implants and if it's set in 2061 how in the world is Peter Paker still young (if it's him) or even anyone else? I am confused about this comic...... and I know confusion ;)

UHHH.... They did a future Spidey story called "Black Reign" where a very old Peter Parker has to fight as Spider-Man to save the city from a butt load of Venom symbiotes and then Venom.... Great Story. This looks like a turd.

@Lestat- You mean Spider-Man: Reign? That wasn't good. I actually thought it was a complete waste of time. And money. I bought the hardcover and was disappointed in myself after reading it.
