From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st.

@McNy

Not sure if you clarified; were you screened the final cut (or close to it)? You said it was the final act where some of the CG was iffy?
SuperPickle - 7/23/2014, 4:39 AM
This movie looks so amazing. I can't wait!
MrCBM56 - 7/23/2014, 4:40 AM

McNyagano - 7/23/2014, 4:44 AM
@Maven

Probably close to it. Only in the 3rd act was when the CGI was off at times.

@MrCBM56

LOL! xD

As someone who didn't even know GotG existed before Marvel announced plans to make it, this might well be the best Marvel movie yet. Every clip is a winner so far and I can't wait to see it.
OdinSon2k14 - 7/23/2014, 5:10 AM
Oh well...I'm hoping I see that Marvel Studios has truly turned the corner when it comes to current generation CGI technology (before they start Thor 3 :)). So far its looked like they did Groot and Rocket and thats where they stopped. This video is not encouraging :)...an intergalactic prison, and I cant spot ONE exotic CGI alien race in the background. All human actor extras.

The CGI characters were limited to quick scenes in the Thor movies, while two of the main characters are CGI here. So, I guess its a good sign? And yet the prison is completely populated with actor extras, which could be interpreted as a bad sign :).

An army and society of CGI apes in Dawn, hords of robots in Transformers, beasts galore in Hercules, so it may hint at a bad sign that its business as usual. This why Disney (Maleficent, dragons, tree monters) taking a hands-off approach to Marvel Studios could be a bad thing. I mean, the movies would be PG, but Disney would insist on some modern CGI character work. And they'd have the CGI big guns to get the job done.

MrCBM56 - 7/23/2014, 5:29 AM
@OdinSon2k14 The movie is very practical.
ckal - 7/23/2014, 5:34 AM
@diamondz

And you like it ;)
batz11 - 7/23/2014, 5:37 AM
Love that...
shelbz - 7/23/2014, 5:38 AM
Wow really? Now the movie is shit because Gunn used practical effects? Rocket and Groot are the first 100% CGI characters in the MCU main cast so imagine the budget needed for them alone.

Gunn has said from day 1 he wanted to use as little CGI as possible and go with practical effects when he could. Why over-inflate the budget when you don't HAVE to?

This movie is already CGI heavy, one more alien here and there isn't going to determine the quality of the product.
FerFogs - 7/23/2014, 5:39 AM
@staypuffed - hehe same thought.
Masterpace - 7/23/2014, 5:43 AM
That looks cool...I hope it will be great movie.

BTW didn't expected polish subtitles.
OdinSon2k14 - 7/23/2014, 5:52 AM
Uh shelbz? Like, you didnt count on me having the budgets of other movies that used ARMIES of CGI characters :)? According to your logic, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes should have cost 600M :). It didn't, it cost about 130...Hercules and I Frankenstein cost way less than the Thors. Its obviously not cost, but the WILLINGNESS to do it.
TheAmbassador - 7/23/2014, 6:09 AM
I keep telling myself not to watch... but I'm glad I did.

This was honestly the first time I didn't completely dislike Cooper's voice as Rocket though. That is still going to be an annoyance throughout the film for me
IronAsgaardian95 - 7/23/2014, 6:24 AM
I got one plan and that plan requires a frickin quardex battery so FIGURE IT OUT
JohnCarter - 7/23/2014, 6:26 AM
@OdinSon2k14

Its obviously not cost, but the WILLINGNESS to do it.

That's fine with me. I have no problem with Marvel's or the director's willingness to go with practical effects whenever they can.
OdinSon2k14 - 7/23/2014, 6:28 AM
Whenere they CAN?! Thats all they do :)!
InfiniteMonkey - 7/23/2014, 6:28 AM
LMFAO! Kept watching this vid and just noticed Drax walks into the frame and sits there staring at Groot for the longest time looking like a bloody idiot. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!
EzioKenway1225 - 7/23/2014, 6:30 AM
theAmbassador-when i watched the preview..it took about a min for me to forget it was Cooper doing his voice, sounded great for him
TheAmbassador - 7/23/2014, 6:32 AM
It's not that I don't like Cooper, I'd actually prefer him use his normal voice. It's the bizarro accent they have him doing. Some hybrid of New York/Jersey, or whatever they described it as. It just doesn't fit, but I'm also a member of the camp who wanted Rocket to have a Cockney accent.
peppy - 7/23/2014, 6:35 AM
This looks really great . Can't wait to see it .
EzioKenway1225 - 7/23/2014, 6:37 AM
TheAmbassador-i was dissapointed initally when the second trailer came out that it seemed he was using his regular voice but i actually like the hybrid accents..i would have liked a Cockney accent but that has a risk of becoming too cartoony..i think the voice suits THIS version of Rocket well
