More From Jeremy Renner On 'Hawkeye' In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON; "I Don't Die"

Jeremy Renner reveals how early on he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the work that goes into playing Clint Barton on the big screen and how it greatly differs to more serious projects ("We're not doing Shakespeare"), and the fate of Hawkeye and his role in future Marvel movies...

Jeremy Renner recently appeared in an episode of Larry King Now, and the follwing clip has been released of him discussing his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It kicks off with some talk about how he landed the part, as well as what's in store for Clint Barton after Avengers: Age of Ultron ("No man, I don’t die. They are going to keep me around for a while."). Of course, thanks to the recent reveal that he may be turning up in Captain America 3, that's no great surprise! Oh, and before you go getting too hysterical about that "We're not doing Shakespeare" comment, pay close attention to what Renner then says about how a movie like The Avengers differs to more serious projects and why the role of Hawkeye still involves giving it his 100%. Be sure to check out a new image of the character in Joss Whedon's sequel by clicking here!

ALegendaryPanda - 8/27/2014, 2:40 PM
WELL, I guess that clears that up then!
TheAbaryMan369 - 8/27/2014, 2:40 PM
Good. Hawkeye was the least interesting Avenger so far, and that's why I wanna see more of him. He has potential to shine, they just didn't tap into that potential yet.
NightWatcher - 8/27/2014, 2:42 PM
Man! I mean...great to hear!
blitzkreg - 8/27/2014, 2:42 PM
They should have The West Coast Avengers headlined by Hawkeye...just like in the comics.
BlacktinAmerica - 8/27/2014, 2:43 PM
I didn't believe he was going to die but can you really trust his word?
batz11 - 8/27/2014, 2:43 PM
Abary, well said, that's how I feel too...
JoJo1982 - 8/27/2014, 2:43 PM
Giving Hawkeye a 100%

This must be Hawkeye's week, cause we sure getting a lot of news about him lately
MrCBM56 - 8/27/2014, 2:43 PM
Favorite Avenger. Whedon is going to turn his redundancy into badassery. You all love Hawkeye, you just don't know it yet.

:D
MrCBM56 - 8/27/2014, 2:44 PM
@TheAbaryMan EXACTLY.
RorMachine - 8/27/2014, 2:44 PM
"Cap.." *dramatic pause while he adjusts his bow*.."It would be my genuine pleasure"

Deserves to die for that crime against movie dialog alone.
2gold - 8/27/2014, 2:44 PM
Somewhere a Marvel sniper just loaded his weapon and is waiting for the signal from Kevin.
HeavensWarrior - 8/27/2014, 2:45 PM
that sucks! hes pretty lame and useless.hawkeye from Avengers EMH is much cooler and better
Maxi91291 - 8/27/2014, 2:45 PM
We could use a lil Ronin with our Hawkeye.
McNyagano - 8/27/2014, 2:46 PM
And there were people who thought he was gonna die. Rhodey tho....
TexasTwoFace - 8/27/2014, 2:46 PM
Of course he doesn't die. I don't think Marvel is in the business of killing off valuable assets. It's not Shakespeare is condescending and off putting but at least it made more sense in context.
TheManFromMars - 8/27/2014, 2:46 PM
I don't think anyone is dying in Age of Ultron. Never did, tbh.
Maven - 8/27/2014, 2:47 PM
Lord.

We've only seen him in one movie and people won't give him a chance, will they?
StarYeezus - 8/27/2014, 2:47 PM
Good. He's a core member of the Avengers. Black Widow on the other hand...

Here's hoping for Cap's Kooky Quartet in CA3.
DIAMONDZ - 8/27/2014, 2:47 PM
Whedon handling Cap again... yikes
SauronsBANE - 8/27/2014, 2:47 PM
Hawkeye: a mindless zombie for most of his first major MCU appearance, killed off in his very next major MCU appearance.

Yeah, even Whedon isn't that cruel haha. Of course he survives!
NightWatcher - 8/27/2014, 2:48 PM
All jokes aside, its great that they don't kill him off, we could use some more hawkeye. He was only in two films so far (and he was barely visible in Thor).

Meh...Sony should take tips...

Just saying...
McNyagano - 8/27/2014, 2:48 PM
"that sucks! hes pretty lame and useless."

Maven - 8/27/2014, 2:48 PM
I thought the "he's useless!" comments were so 2012 by this point!
StarYeezus - 8/27/2014, 2:48 PM
@Maven

Because, according to some people, The Avengers should only be made up of super-powered heroes.
batz11 - 8/27/2014, 2:49 PM
Nobody else is gonna stick up for AustrianMarvelFan, WTH?

BritishMonkey - 8/27/2014, 2:50 PM
Of course he won't die.
It'll be Thor that dies.
JoJo1982 - 8/27/2014, 2:50 PM
Mcynagano

I have a really bad feeling Rhodey might bit the dust in first half is the movie

gambgel - 8/27/2014, 2:50 PM
yes! I want to see Hawkeye in more movies, at least two more.
AustrianMarvelFan - 8/27/2014, 2:51 PM
Yeah, and these are the same people who obviously slept during the movie parts where Hawkeye helped save the world. And the same people who at the same time claim to be suuuuch big comic fans. Like of the comics where the non-superpowered Avengers are just as important as the rest.

Buuuut that's none of my business.
FirstAvenger - 8/27/2014, 2:51 PM
Well that's ends those rumors...
gamecreatorjj - 8/27/2014, 2:51 PM
aw shucks
Dandy - 8/27/2014, 2:51 PM
Goody. Don't kill off a character before it means something. Right now Hawkeye hasn't had enough screen time for his presence to be really memorable or his death impactful.
SauronsBANE - 8/27/2014, 2:52 PM
"Hawkeye was the least interesting Avenger so far, and that's why I wanna see more of him."

Pure, unadulterated wisdom right there. Couldn't agree more. I have a feeling we're going to get to know Hawkeye in a BIG way in Age of Ultron. Good stuff.
JoJo1982 - 8/27/2014, 2:52 PM
@britishmonkey

Then who would be the star for Thor 3
batz11 - 8/27/2014, 2:52 PM
They have to kill one of the black guys, the quota is already past the Hollywood movie breaking point with Fury, Falcon and War Machine all alive...gotta get rid of one or two so Black Panther can join the ranks...
