BLADE RUNNER Director Ridley Scott On Why He Won't Helm A Comic Book Movie

Sir Ridley Scott (Exodus: Gods and Kings) has directed all sorts of movies, including Alien, Hannibal, and Robin Hood, so why isn't a superhero flick among them? "I've had a lot of opportunities," he says before revealing why it's never happened. Check it out!

Looking over Ridley Scott's storied career, it really is amazing that he's never helmed a comic book movie. Now that they're bigger than ever, could the busy filmmaker make room in his schedule (The Martian, Prometheus 2, and possibly Blade Runner 2 are all in the works) to being a superhero to the big screen? "I've had a lot of opportunities and I tend not to do that," he revealed in a recent interviewith IGN Movies. "They're the hardest single thing to write. Taking a comic strip character is very hard to write. Because comics are meant to work in one page, to work in frames with minimalistic dialogue. And a lot of it is left to the imagination of the reader. To do that in film you've got to be a little more explanatory. And that requires a good screenplay and good dialogue." Here's hoping the right screenplay could change his mind then! What do you think?
