BOX OFFICE: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Drops To #3 During Third Week Of Release BOX OFFICE: AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Drops To #3 During Third Week Of Release

Avengers: Age of Ultron has passed the $1 billion mark worldwide, but the might of both Mad Max: Fury Road and Pitch Perfect 2 proved to be too much for the superhero sequel this weekend as it feel to #3. What came in at #1? Hit the jump for details...

Avengers: Age of Ultron was unable to remain at the top of the box office for a third week as Pitch Perfect 2 rocketed to the top spot with a projected $64 million weekend. The movie which stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Elizabeth Banks was predicted to debut with roughly $40 million, but female moviegoers have flocked to the sequel in their droves. Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy meanwhile came in quite far behind that, earning around $41 million for the weekend.

That means that the critically acclaimed movie from George Miller has only just beaten Avengers: Age of Ultron which looks set to take a respectable $37 million. The R-Rating has no doubt hurt Mad Max: Fury Road, but like the Marvel superhero ensemble, it's performing even better overseas. What did you guys decide to watch this weekend? Let us know in the usual place.

With the hype Mad Max have gone, i can understand it winning over Ultron in the boxoffice at the moment. But Pitch Perfect?

It took repeat viewings, but I can finally admit that AOU was disappointing. Ultron could have been way more badass. Still, I was entertained. Mad Max is fun. I'm not interested in Pitch Perfect at all.

Mad Max was sick! Best action movie I've seen this year, and in my top 5 for all time! Pitch Perfect 2 I heard is okay, but it has a large fan base from the first, which I enjoyed. Still haven't watched A2, mainly because that came out when I was studying for finals and I like opening weekend, but I'll watch it online eventually

MAD MAX IS [frick]ING ALLEY. Seriously one of the best action films ever made. It puts the action in just about any CBM to shame. GO SEE IT.

Oh man, it's just FANTASTIC. George Miller has still got it. Editing is great. He takes something chaotic and jarring and knows how to make you beg for more. Guys, my girlfriend loved it, wants to get a big group together and watch it again. For her to love a movie like Mad Max, that's some wide appeal.

I really really hope Mad Max does well and we don't have another Dredd on our hands.

It's getting great reviews everywhere. Need to see it.

Pitch Perfect was pretty great so im honestly not surprised its number 1. Going to see the sequel and mad max next week hopefully. Tbh all of the top three movies seems pretty worthy to be at the top of the boards

I think WB should get George Miller for Green Lantern.

He would no doubt nail the action scenes.
