BOX OFFICE: ANT-MAN Towers Over PIXELS As It Passes $100 Million In North America

As we first told you yesterday, Ant-Man has remained at the #1 spot this weekend with a haul of $24.8 million. Pixels was expected to far exceed that number, but poor reviews and negative buzz seem to have halted its momentum as it earned a disappointing $24 million. You could say that Ant-Man got lucky, but the Marvel movie faced stiff competition both last weekend and this weekend, so it's pretty damn impressive that it's done this well. Being at #1 for two weeks is definitely going to increase the chances of a sequel, as will the fact that it has now passed $100 million after just ten days of release in North America. With an additional $60 million from overseas, it now has a worldwide cume of $226 million. That's a good return for a movie which cost only $130 million, and it still has some time to go before leaving theaters, so stay tuned to CBM for further updates!
