Has Robert Downey Jr. Confirmed 'Captain America' And 'Iron Man' For SPIDER-MAN?

Did Robert Downey Jr. confirm that he and Chris Evans will be reprising the roles of Iron Man and Captain America in the 2017 Spider-Man reboot? The evidence certainly points that way, so hit the jump for details on what sounds like a very big cameo in the upcoming movie...

ComicBook.com has a very interesting piece up analysing  Robert Downey Jr.'s recent comments on Jimmy Kimmel Live about him and Chris Evans returning to Atlanta to shoot something in the near future now that they've wrapped up work on Captain America: Civil War. Were they referring to reshoots? Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2Avengers: Infinity War? How about Spider-Man? The site appear to be convinced that it's the latter, especially now that Tom Holland has confirmed that the 2017 reboot will shoot there, and this does make sense. After all, a big part of the deal between Marvel and Sony was that Marvel characters would appear in the wall-crawler's rebooted solo franchise, and who better than the two heroes who will no doubt be fighting for Peter Parker's allegiance when he makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut next year? What do you think?

No please. We don't need Cap and Iron Man in a Spidey film.

You know who would be better?

Yep, a Daredevil appearance in Spider-Man is what we need.

2 things I want for the next Spider-Man film.

1. No scientist villains.

We've had them in nearly every Spidey film. Norman in 1, Ock in 2, Connors in TASM1, and Electro in TASM2. Vulture honestly isn't that interesting and his fight scenes honestly would be boring.

Bring on some more street level villains. In fact build up Spider-Man's villains threat level as the films more on. All the Batman films before Nolan's really had Joker as the villain in every film besides Returns. Two-Face, Riddler, & Mr. Freeze felt more like Joker than the characters they should be. Like in Nolan's Batman series. First was Falcone and Scarecrow. Then we ended with Ra's but we started with Falcone and Scarecrow.

Start off with Shocker. Make him like the Anti-Ant-Man & Captain Cold of the MCU where Herman has a crew that robs and steals from places. He comes across a create of Stark Industries or HammerTech or Oscorp power gloves. Have him learn the gloves. Take them apart piece by piece and rebuild. Now he has power in case any every or defender tries to mess with him and his crew when hitting places.

2. Nobody trying to destroy NYC.

Have the reboot not have a villain who is trying to destroy NYC. That was TASM series problem. Raimi didn't have villains trying to take over NYC. Norman terrorized but never wanted to destroy the city. Ock didn't but his project make the city threaten. Sandman wanted money for treatment for his daughter, Venom and Harry wanted revenge.

TASM series had to [frick] it up by having Lizard wanting to make everyone into lizards for some stupid ass reason and TASM2 had Electro shut the city lights out for some reason AND YET WE CARE MORE ABOUT TWO AIRPLANES CRASHING BECAUSE THE POWER BEING TURNED OFF IN NYC WITH ALL THE HOSPITALS WITH PATIENTS ON LIFE SUPPORT ISN'T DRAMATIC ENOUGH OR THE FACT NOBODY COULD CONTACT THE POLICE IN CASE A CRIME HAPPENS THAT CAN'T BE REPORTED OR ANYTHING ELSE WHEN THE SETTING IS IN NEW YORK [frick]ING CITY ISN'T AS IMPORTANT AS 2 AIRPLANES HEADED STRAIGHT TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER! HELL HAVE AN AIRPLANE PERHAPS NEARLY CRASH INTO A BUILDING! YOU HAVE 9-11 TERROR FROM BLUE RIDDLER! [frick]!

Anyway have Shocker as Spidey's first baddie. Make him the Captain Cold of the Marvel universe where he's perhaps the most talented street level villain.

@LEVITIKUZ

I wrote some long complex reply but the site [frick]ed me and just reloaded the page.

Basically, I think smaller scale is definitely the angle they should go for in this film. Not every conflict needs to be "THE END OF NEW YORK CITY" and that's rarely the case with Spider-Man in his comic battles anyway. Most of the time the conflict comes from how these events effect Peter Parker's life (something perfectly portrayed in Spider-Man 2). Shocker would be a good way to keep that in tact and I think it's wise to avoid giving him some sob story background to make the viewer feel for him. Spider-Man films need villains who are just reprehensible assholes. Hell, I know it's left a bad taste in people's mouths but I think Sinister Six could actually work in the first movie of a new franchise. Show how big Spidey's world is right out of the gate using villains who really don't require much development. Shocker, Rhino, Mysterio, Electro, Kraven, with Doc Ock being the only one who requires any kind of development. And if they do go down that route I hope they make him pure evil like the comics to avoid any comparisons to Spider-Man 2's version.

I always wanted The Enforcers, Kingpin, and Electro/Shocker for the reboot anyway. Most don't need any development and can provide for unique fights, the same way the Sinister Six could I suppose.

@JamesMann

Agree but I think Sinister Six is way to big to start off with.

@DrDoom

But we have a problem with Kingpin.

He's in jail.
JamesMann
JamesMann - 11/29/2015, 11:12 AM
@DrDoom

Agreed on pretty much everything. Kingpin would be a great big bad for the first film and yet still keep the series from going to out there this early on.

Shocker would make a good side villain, someone who you can just show off in a few scenes and have a battle with Spider-Man before the finale.

@LEVITIKUZ

Whelp, there will be two more seasons of Daredevil before the Spider-Man reboot comes out so that's plenty of time to get him out and have him make his way back to the top of the crime world.

“By the way, we are going to shoot in Atlanta again, you and I.” Evans agreed, “I know, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

I don't think they're talking about reshoots....anyway which actor talks about reshoots...

@GliderMan

I saw it moreso replicating TDK. I mean we have 2 airplanes. The Dark Knight had 2 boats at the end. Batman needed to stop Joker, Spider-Man needed to stop Electro.

@DrDoom

Well I know that but has it been confirmed D'Onofrio will be in Daredevil season 2? I don't believe so.

Kingpin and Kraven should be the villains in the Spider-Man film. I'd rather see Hulk in Spider-Man rather than IM or Cap.
