Great news! I loved all the new characters and I don't mind waiting at all. It'll be like waiting for the next Lord of the Rings movies for Christmas all over again!

I really hope they can make Kylo Ren more interesting. He's basically teenage angst personified. Or at least give us some really cool Captain Phasma scenes. All the new "villains" are meh so far.

The new characters were the best part about the film. Rey, Finn, Kylo, Poe, & BB-8 were all great new additions.

Lack of new (or even returning) interesting characters is why the prequels (include III) sucked. We had Obi-Wan, Anakin, R2, 3PO, Chewbacca, Yoda, Emperor, Boba Fett, and early Stormtroopers (yea I know clones aren't storms but the influence of them are).

All the new characters were Padme, Mace, Maul, Jango, Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, Griverous, and Dooku. All undeveloped and uninteresting. George relied on classic characters that people loved and didn't give you any reason to love them here. They are just used because you know them but that doesn't mean you should undevelop them and make them boring.

I used the RLM test the other day, in which you have to list psychologic traits of a character without mentioning his profession or role in SW.

It's hilarious how people can't define those new prequels characters, hahaha.

Now we finally have a SW movie with characters I can give 2 shits about (including the villain).

I had high hopes for Kylo Ren being the Red Hood of the Star Wars universe. Part of what makes those kind of characters so great is the reason why they do the things they do. We got absolutely no reason for any of his actions other than "Snoke told me to. Sorry, I mean Plagueis is wise."

Make Finn more badass (which will prob happen as Boyega has said his role is way more physical this time around)

Poe and Finn as a DYNAMIC DUO; have Poe be Finn's mentor

Make Rey's skills and feats feel earned

More Dark side

Allow Rey and Finn's relationship to grow organically; build on that chemistry

Luke as a badass ULTRA powerful Jedi Knight

The one thing that Force Awakens lacked most is depth. They introduced us new characters who had nothing but luck through the entire film. The internal conflict in Finn was complete bullshit. He won't kill random villagers that are shooting back at him but he will kill storm troopers who he grew up with, trained with, and probably knows personally? And without an ounce of remorse. Maybe if they had him with the conflict of not wanting to kill anybody, then I would believe his characters choices.

I enjoyed the new characters, absolutely, but waaaaay more Luke Skywalker, which wouldn't be hard to do. I also want to know more about Luke during the interim and all that led to his decision to go on his quest. I want it to mean more than just a plot point for The Force Awakens.

Force Awakens wasn't the worst Star Wars movie, but it was the most uninspired one. The characters saved it from mediocrity.

Clarity of vision.

Don't go changing the plot to suit the fans preconceptions of the film or to add TR-8R as a major character.

Newsflash:
TR-8R is not the new Boba Fett.
TR-8R is the new Admiral Ackbar.

And I really hope Rey does turn out to be Han and Leia's daughter and not Luke's.

She's flying around in the Millenium Falcon (which she knows better than even Han did) with Chewie at her side (whom she also understands as much as Han did) and she's a scavager (which is not too many steps behind a Space Pirate/ Smuggler).
She is so Han's daughter.

Besides, if they're re-writing canon, then it might be an idea to have Jedi be celebate, like they're supposed to be. No Mara Jade for Luke.
