It's Pretty Much All YOUR Fault That STAR WARS EPISODE VIII Has Been Delayed

We heard yesterday that Rian Johnson's Star Wars Episode VIII has been pushed back from May 2017 to December 15th that same year, and while the extra seven months wait is going to be tough, you only have yourselves to blame! Why? Well, it's not necessarily a bad thing, so read on for details...

While Rogue One: A Star Wars Story certainly makes the wait for Episode VIII a little easier, it was still something of a crushing blow to learn that we're going to have to endure an extra seven months until seeing this follow-up to The Force Awakens. So, what actually caused the delay?

Well, while the success of the latest instalment has no doubt inspired Disney to keep December a Star Wars month for the foreseeable future, it sounds like script rewrites were the biggest factor behind the decision. "Obviously the December date worked out very (very) well for them but I've also heard they are rewriting the script," says The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit. "I've heard from several sources the rewrites are positive, based on audience reaction to the new characters. People loved them. So strongly. And Lucasfilm was surprised at how well they were received, according to several sources." As reasons for script changes go, this is actually a fantastic one!

The demand to see more of characters like Captain Phasma and Poe Dameron being addressed is awesome to hear, and so it might just be worth the wait. At least Star Wars Episode VIII director Rian Johnson has been having fun with the change, as you can see from the Tweet below...
