Deadline report that 24, Shame and World War Z star James Badge Dale is the frontrunner to play the older brother of Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger. The site describe Dan Reid as, "an ex-ranger and hero of the Old West." The Gore Verbinski helmed flick is set to finally go into production next month and the cast also includes Johnny Depp, Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper, Helena Bonham Carter, and Dwight Yoakum. If he decides to take the job, Dale will be removing himself from the shortlist of actors up for the role of John McClane Jr. in A Good Day to Die Hard.

He is the Green Hornet's great grandfather or great uncle depending on the story you read. It was left out of the films because two different studious had the rights to each character.

@dahamma I was thinking the same. Why a lone ranger article has a Avengers thumb and then I thought maybe Nick Fury would make an appearance after credits.

for someone being a "lone" ranger he sure does have a lot of company

@dracula Because the Lone Ranger is the great-uncle of the original radio era Green Hornet. They were created by the same people.

@marvel72 Yeah Dan Reid is his brother and the grand-father of the original Green Hornet.

I think Disney's producing this flick. That makes it difficult to take seriously.

The 1980 film had Dan Reid as the older brother, who gets killed in an ambush, in which the LR is injured, found by Tonto and fuels his need for justice,

sooooooooooo.. he's up for a role that will die right away... like Emilio Estovaz's "cameo" in Mission Impossible.... which actually was his best acting. I really believed he died!! (okay.. maybe I was confused his career with a part IN it.)
