"In The Amazing Spider-Man videogame, Iguana has been re-imagined to be more animalistic than its comic book counterpart," revealed Moïse Breton, (Beenox's Art Director on the upcoming video game) in an interview with IGN. "The visual approach is less cartoony, which makes for really interesting details. He is also permanently mutated and does not return to his original form during the day. Therefore, he must hide in the dark corners of Manhattan in his effort to survive." This is the second villain to be revealed following the release of The Rhino trailer last month.

There are more details to be found on Iguana by clicking the link at the bottom of the page, but here's what Breton had to say about their take on the little known villain. "In the spirit of the film reboot, we’re taking a more realistic and grounded approach to the game, including the characters and villains. We also wanted to have a clear separation between the Lizard and Iguana. While you can still feel the humanity behind the Lizard, Iguana is purely a genetic experiment gone wrong. Like the other cross-species in the game, he has escaped from Oscorp and is being hunted down."

Connors’ go-to lab animal, an iguana he referred to as “Iggy,” had weathered so many odd experiments over the past few months, it was a wonder the small reptile was still alive. Somewhere along the way, Connors had injected Iggy with a formula that appeared to have no effect at all. And it didn’t – at least not in and of itself. What this particular injection did manage, however, was to serve as a catalyst that slowly warped and mutated intended effects of other experimentations upon the animal for months to come. Shortly after Connors became the Lizard, Iguana revealed himself within the walls of Oscorp in all his seven-foot glory. As it turns out, after gestating for months, all of the strange science going on inside Iggy’s body had come to a head in the course of a couple hours, morphing him into the remarkable being terrorizing Manhattan today.

TPerryoo7 - 3/13/2012, 5:45 PM
The belt is always there, its just the angle, theres only about 2 pouches on the front on each side.

I for one love it, thats the kind of stuff that was needed in the movie to differentiate it from Raimis

Whoa, check out his belt.
I like that better than the movie version. Is that game-only, or movie-inspired?!
Toasty - 3/13/2012, 6:30 PM
@3D was about to say the same, hell if they'd CGI the iguana's head onto the lizard in TASM i'd consider it an improvement.
Sortis - 3/13/2012, 6:34 PM

Who and what the heck is the Iguana? Irony is that this Iguana thing looks more like a Lizard than the Lizard in the new film. Despite Lizard in TASM being based on Steve Ditko's design, still... he still looks like the offspring of Killer Croc.
ManofSteelo - 3/14/2012, 9:37 AM
Meh, at this point I'd rather have a Miles Morales game. Although his rogues gallery is weak at this point, it's better than having rip-off versions of villains. Seriously -- "Iguana"? SMH.
SpiderFan35 - 3/14/2012, 1:09 PM
@NoRegrets: Don't be a comics snob, this is a comic book movie site after all.

And if you are a comic expert, what do you mean by "the comics"? Are you implying the Lizard has not had different looks in different comic versions? At least be specific.
mgeoff88 - 3/14/2012, 1:32 PM
The graphics look great. And I had no idea the Iguana was from the comics.

I thought they created the character for the game.
ScionStorm - 3/15/2012, 2:29 AM
Iguana? lol What, they couldn't get rights to feature Stegron?
