MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS Expected To Pass $500M By Sunday
With Marvel's The Avengers out in US theatres this Friday, the latest figures for Joss Whedon's superhero ensemble have analysts predicting an impressive $500M worldwide gross by this time next week.
The good news keeps on coming for Marvel Studios. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that The Avengers is expected to become the studios most successful superhero movie so far, easily topping the previous record set in 2010 by Iron Man 2 ($623 million). The film has now made a whopping $218M overseas in its first six days of release and continues breaking record after record. With the May Day holiday in some countries today, another boost in takings is expected, while it's thought that the current international gross will be upwards of $400M by Sunday after being released in Russia and China. Throw in the fact that Earth's Mightiest Heroes also assemble in North America later this week and the film should be way past the $500M mark by Sunday.
