On the night of the world premiere of Marvel's The Avengers in Los Angeles, Robert Downey Jr. let slip the fact that the cast were planning to assemble one more time that night in order to film an extra scene for the movie. No one was willing to give any details away about the scene, and while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige DID eventually confirm that they had shot something, no one knew what. Until now. While many were speculating that the scene would involve everything from Ant-Man's introduction to the creation of the Vision, all it actually features is the team sitting around eating shawarma.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Joss Whedon and the cast revealed some of the secrets behind the creation of that scene. For example, to cover up his beard, Chris Evans was forced to wear prosthetics on the lower half of his face as well as a wig (much to the amusement of his fellow actors). The site caught up with the director and cast recently and Joss Whedon had this to say to Robert Downey Jr. for letting slip that they would be shooting an extra scene. "Thank you for having every reporter ask me what we were shooting!" He adds in the voice of a curious reporter, "'So I hear you’re shooting a scene?' 'I’m sure I don’t know what you mean!'" Robert's response? "You're welcome!"

Click on the link below to read more of their thoughts on filming the scene (Chris Hemsworth apparently ate so much shawarma he was close to throwing up). It's interesting to note that the scene in which Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark mentions Shawarma was actually one of many they filmed that day improvised by the actor.

STARRING:

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Ramanoff/Black Widow
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury
Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson
Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill
Tom Hiddleston as Loki

Wasn't all that funny but the movie and first after credit scene were completely epic.
jarel93 - 5/4/2012, 9:40 AM
I really wish there were some video of this interview...it sounds like it was just one of the funniest things ever!
Fogs - 5/4/2012, 9:47 AM
Hehe, nice to know the Shawarma joke was improvised.
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 10:00 AM
The Shawarma thing was actually hilarious it lasted JUST long enough for us to stop laughing and then start again. The comedic timing was REALLY good in Avengers.
REDSTORM - 5/4/2012, 10:02 AM
Ah so that's why Cap was hiding his face! I heard people say that it looked like he didn't enjoy the shawarma.
skidz - 5/4/2012, 10:05 AM
I loved that scene just because it was so simple and even more hilarious for it.
KingGhost519 - 5/4/2012, 10:11 AM
It was very funny. Thor must've been hungry cuz he was smashing.
TheMyth - 5/4/2012, 10:11 AM
It was like a prank on us fans who always sit through the credits for that one last super secret scene, and it was hilarious. Feel like I got Rick Roll'd by the Avengers lol.
djKiDDvIcIOUs - 5/4/2012, 10:13 AM
That film was epic! That second end scene was funny too. They looked hungry
MatchesMalone1989 - 5/4/2012, 10:13 AM

Shaman - 5/4/2012, 10:18 AM
Between Ironman's American cheeseburger, Thor's feasts of kings, The Incredible Hulk's pizza, Cap's Fondue and Avengers' shawarmas... i'm a hungry [frick]er now, i'll tell ya that!
PiscinaMuerta - 5/4/2012, 10:18 AM

Nlschutd - 5/4/2012, 10:19 AM

ah here it is
ShadesAtKnightII - 5/4/2012, 10:33 AM
It was great because, people wait after the credits for something mind blowing, so this time we got a bunch of guys eating lunch. Brilliant! Besides, we already got the Thonos ending.
Shaman - 5/4/2012, 10:36 AM
I'm predicting BAOZIES for Ironman 3! You heard it here for the first time, folks ;)
third3ye - 5/4/2012, 10:41 AM
Chris Hemsworth was PLOWING through those shawarmas, look on his face was priceless, no surprise he was close to vomitting lol! Him and Ruffalo were really the only 2 guys actually eating, and Mark was too busy trying to keep a straight face. Also that explains why Evans basically had a hand on his chin the entire time!
XK1D - 5/4/2012, 10:42 AM
The scene was hilarious! exactly how I would of pictured them in that situation had it not been in the film.
NOID - 5/4/2012, 10:47 AM
the best part about that scene was that they didnt say anything... it was just perfect

^ much thanks
eviltattooedguy - 5/4/2012, 10:53 AM
Who the hell is the character "the other" supposed to be
95 - 5/4/2012, 10:53 AM
Saw it last night with the marathon. It didn't impress me as much as I thought it would. Wasn't fond of the comedy aspect but the action sequences were fantastic.
TheOverlord - 5/4/2012, 11:00 AM
That scene was classic! The ultimate punchline. Those of us that waited just roared in laughter.
Gnyah123 - 5/4/2012, 11:05 AM
just got back from seeing it and i dont know what it means...the only thing i notice is the A in the left back ground...A for Antman? idk ...but i dont get that scene though..lol
any1 has any ideas or knows care to share?...
movie was sick!! Thanos will we see him in Thor 2 perhaps? or Avengers 2? who knows..
Gnyah123 - 5/4/2012, 11:07 AM
was kinda sad they didnt really show enough hulk like it was good! but it cud of been alot better if they showed more hulk man!
Luther - 5/4/2012, 11:08 AM
The whole audience let out a loud "Holy Shit!" when Thanos appeared, then NOT to my amazement, after hollering in amazement and excitement, the ones around me would follow up their "I came" faces with (either) "who's that?" or "Darkseid!" .....how can one really be so overly excited for something they know NOTHING about? I don't understand.

Anyway, it was good, not THE BEST, but still far from the worst. Out of 10..I say as a CBM, 8.7. Definitely felt like a COMIC as a movie, no (or very little) pretentiousness or deep underlying meanings. Which I usually would say can hurt a film, but, what would you expect here yannow? With that said, I actually respected it and liked it FOR that reason. As a film in general, because of those "missing pieces", a light 6.

All together a great popcorn flick, to be excited about, especially growing up with these character. If they were done justice or not, it's pretty damn exciting to see them all together, in "real life". :)
CPBuff22 - 5/4/2012, 11:13 AM
They went out of their way to make the Midnight release epic. They gave away tee shirts, hats, pin sets, & a limited edition print. All of the swag said "Avengers Midnight Release May 4 2012" on it. Spectacular!
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 11:14 AM
@Luther o cmon this blows away TDK ( my prior favorite) and destroys the other Marvel Studios films as much as i like them... i mean cmon the "I'm always angry" scene is probably the best CBM moment of all time
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 11:15 AM
@Gnyah123 its gonna be the Avengers mansion
hulkbuster84 - 5/4/2012, 11:18 AM
Isn't Iron Man 3 RDJ's last contracted movie with Marvel?!
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 11:22 AM
@hulkbuster84 no i think he's signed on for at least 2 more Avengers
Shaman - 5/4/2012, 11:24 AM
Ironman 3 = BAOZIES FTW!!!

You heard it here first ;P
GUNSMITH - 5/4/2012, 11:43 AM
I THOUGHT IT WAS TACOS
Luther - 5/4/2012, 11:52 AM
@Ha1frican. I'd have to respectfully disagree. This and TDK, other than being both based on comics, are NOT alike/in the same category.

This was intended to be just that, a fun film for real comic nerds. And like I said, surprisingly enough I'm not complaining about. Though, don't get me wrong, there were a GOOD AMOUNT of cheese throughout, but was able to brush it off..somewhat.

My brother posed a question to the "I'm always angry" moment. If he was able to control his transformation, and himself as The Hulk the whole time (as the scene proposed), then why did you try to beat the shit out of Black Widow and Thor..he simply must've wanted to. haha
Luther - 5/4/2012, 11:59 AM
ALSO..need to find that Shawarma joint next time I'm In NY. haha
Shaman - 5/4/2012, 12:06 PM
Stigmartyr- That's really all i would ever ask of him but if they ever create a true Lazarus Pit, i'm throwing him in, head first LOL

GUNSMITH- I predict Tacos will be in Cap's sequel, seeing how he never had any... *padoom-tssshh* ;P
Shaman - 5/4/2012, 12:08 PM
Stigmartyr- Since we will get a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, i'm thinking the infinity gauntlet will be Avengers 2 and they'll have Thanos Imperative for the third Avengers ;)
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 12:10 PM
@Luther if he let's hulk take over on command then it isn't as severe (they played the multiple personalities side as opposed to just a pumped up Banner) if his adrenaline gets too high then he loses control and Hulk goes beserk... pretty sure they explained that in TIH...
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 12:11 PM
@Luther basically if he supresses it for long enough then it's worse
Ha1frican - 5/4/2012, 12:13 PM
@Luther also other than the Joker there really wasn't anything that was amazing about TDK, i cheered for Heath but otherwise it was just good. Every moment of character interaction gave me either goosebumps or made me cheer
