On the night of the world premiere of
Marvel's The Avengers in Los Angeles, Robert Downey Jr. let slip the fact that the cast were planning to assemble one more time that night in order to film an extra scene for the movie. No one was willing to give any details away about the scene, and while Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige DID eventually confirm that they had shot
something, no one knew what. Until now. While many were speculating that the scene would involve everything from Ant-Man's introduction to the creation of the Vision, all it actually features is the team sitting around eating shawarma.
Talking to
Entertainment Weekly, Joss Whedon and the cast revealed some of the secrets behind the creation of that scene. For example, to cover up his beard, Chris Evans was forced to wear prosthetics on the lower half of his face as well as a wig (much to the amusement of his fellow actors). The site caught up with the director and cast recently and Joss Whedon had this to say to Robert Downey Jr. for letting slip that they would be shooting an extra scene.
"Thank you for having every reporter ask me what we were shooting!" He adds in the voice of a curious reporter,
"'So I hear you’re shooting a scene?' 'I’m sure I don’t know what you mean!'" Robert's response?
"You're welcome!"
Click on the link below to read more of their thoughts on filming the scene (Chris Hemsworth apparently ate so much shawarma he was close to throwing up). It's interesting to note that the scene in which Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark mentions Shawarma was actually one of many they filmed that day improvised by the actor.
