Michael Bay Confirms That TRANSFORMERS 4 Will Be His Last

Confirming earlier reports that director Michael Bay will walk away from the Transformers franchise following the fourth instalment, we now have an update which reveals that the next film will not only be his last, but will leave the door open for someone else to take over.

In a feature on the new Universal Studios ride, "Transformers: The Ride - 3D", Hero Complex have offered up an update on the fourth instalment in Michael Bay's explosive franchise. Apart from the mention of some redesigned robots, this may give us an idea of the direction the movie will go in. However, with reports that none of the original cast members will return, who knows where the director will take things with the sequel, especially if his plan is to set things up, "for the next guy."

The director, by the way, says that the fourth film will include some redesign of the robots and an entirely new cast. He also said it will be his last and set the franchise up "for the next guy.")

It's worth remembering that this is pretty much exactly what Bay said said after the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and just look how that turned out. Bay has indicated that it will serve as a reboot of sorts, but if Paramount offer him enough, it seems likely that he will indeed choose to return. Only time will tell. The currently untitled fourth instalment is tentatively scheduled for a 2014 release.

Yeah, that won't last long. I just wish he would STOP. He's ruining my favorite franchise.
alucard365 - 6/6/2012, 9:57 AM
[frick] Bay!
LucasMend - 6/6/2012, 9:57 AM
He said the same thing before starting TF3. They offer him money, he returns. I don't mind seeing more robot fighting, love it
ElChavo - 6/6/2012, 9:58 AM

blvdnoise - 6/6/2012, 10:01 AM

PaulRom - 6/6/2012, 10:03 AM
Yeah, can't say I trust him after what he said about TF3.
Very interested in seeing the robot redesigns though.
marvel72 - 6/6/2012, 10:04 AM
it'll be his last until the studio makes another billion from it & throws shit loads of money his way to comeback for another.
ClaireLannister2016 - 6/6/2012, 10:05 AM
please be true
superotherside - 6/6/2012, 10:09 AM
Yeah, doubt it. Wish someone else would take over the franchise.
xXkryptoniteXx - 6/6/2012, 10:10 AM
It should be another director for a new franchise since his style well be incorporated in it.
TheMyth - 6/6/2012, 10:10 AM
"This is my last one... I mean it this time."
Shaman - 6/6/2012, 10:10 AM
No, it's true. The fourth Transformers film will be his last one before the fifth.
jessepostal - 6/6/2012, 10:12 AM
Man some of you really hate bay, I think it's just a trend though, I'll watch every bay transformers ever made haha
thalidomide - 6/6/2012, 10:12 AM
Oh no not again!
SpiderFan35 - 6/6/2012, 10:16 AM

@Yoss: the CGI-storage portion of your brain must be dangerously low. You better watch some Pixar movies or something or it could shut down completely :P
SuperDude001 - 6/6/2012, 10:19 AM
yeah...he said he would leave after the last one too. Oh well, tbh though I did actually like the first Transformers so if Bay stops just doing this for money, puts in some effort, and drops the horny teenage boy attitude this could be a nice film. Although nice is the best we can hope for.
GUNSMITH - 6/6/2012, 10:19 AM

where is the thumbs down button????????
bay is LAME!
he needs to just stop!
Jollem - 6/6/2012, 10:29 AM
wasn't a fan of the cartoons, but didn't they just have a couple token humans and it was more robots fighting robots? more screen time with robots discussing what they should do rather than humans discussing what they should do? let's have some of that please
Spectre94 - 6/6/2012, 10:37 AM
Wasn't Transformers 3 his last?
lntrn8 - 6/6/2012, 10:38 AM
@SpiderFan35 seriously, is that a Bay script for a Batman movie? If true that is so Takei!

DarthBob - 6/6/2012, 10:42 AM
So many franchises to ruin and so little time!
GingerBird - 6/6/2012, 10:45 AM
Michael bay, the definition of douche bag hack. What a soulless piece of crap.
Ha1frican - 6/6/2012, 10:46 AM
THANK THE LORD! I loved the first one but 2 and 3 are trash (3 is the only film I've ever left to go to the bathroom during). Now if we can just keep Peter Berg away...
ACira - 6/6/2012, 10:49 AM
that's what he said about the 3rd one. In all honesty, the first one should've been his last. Of course he has to move on, there are plenty of other franchises out there for him to ruin, and so many studios out there stupid enough to let him do it.
Shaman - 6/6/2012, 10:51 AM
The only way i'll be watching the fourth film is if it's a Beast Wars film.
Hudson3D - 6/6/2012, 10:52 AM
I've only watched the 3rd film once. And even though his new chick is stunning, I just want to beat her round the face with a fish!
SpiderFan35 - 6/6/2012, 10:55 AM
@Intrn8: lol, no it was made for comedy purposes only. You can see the rest at the link I posted.

SpiderFan35 - 6/6/2012, 10:57 AM
@Tea: heh heh, the scary thing is that the Batman and Robin movie was not far off from that!
OrganizedChaos - 6/6/2012, 11:05 AM
This is how you are supposed to do the Transformers franchise justice

Michael Bay knows how to piss off a lot of people
Shaman - 6/6/2012, 11:05 AM
Beast Wars or GTFOOH.
jasonicus - 6/6/2012, 11:05 AM
Unless its Roland Emmerich the fifth one might actually be good.

Bay is garbage. J.J Abrams for the reboot!
RunawaysHD - 6/6/2012, 11:15 AM
This IS a reboot, but it's called transformers 4?

Go away Bay.
thecap - 6/6/2012, 11:29 AM
at least there will be a new cast...
FightAs0ne - 6/6/2012, 11:30 AM

:p
lntrn8 - 6/6/2012, 11:30 AM
SpiderFan35 - still, any crap on the page is believable if you said it came from Bay.

I watched Transformers 3 & really tried to like it. The teen agro dialogue & energy is weak juice & I felt like my intelligence was being pimp slapped.
JMESS - 6/6/2012, 11:31 AM
other than hes doing 1 more, thats the BEST.NEWS.EVER! good effin riddance !!!!! dont call, dont write just go and never be heard from again
OrganizedChaos - 6/6/2012, 11:32 AM
Michael Bay flaws in Transformers: have a stupid female role for no sole purpose except for sex appeal, have dumb comedy bits that are totally sidetracked from the actual plot, have too many pointless slow motion scenes, and with all those factors combined it makes the movie too damn long
FightAs0ne - 6/6/2012, 11:32 AM
@Organized
Agree strongly....that game's gonna be awesome!

hope420 - 6/6/2012, 11:41 AM
Didn't we hear this with each Transformer movie he made?
DeanCorso - 6/6/2012, 11:43 AM
Ugh I'm always sick when i hear about Michael Bay doing another movie.

LordGalactus49 - 6/6/2012, 11:51 AM
Chewtoy - 6/6/2012, 12:05 PM
Anything that keeps him away from franchises that I actually care about.
nerdman81 - 6/6/2012, 12:29 PM
His last one should've been the one before the first one!
beane2099 - 6/6/2012, 12:30 PM
Parts of Bay's movies are good. With four movies maybe we can salvage those parts to make one watchable flick. I've seen what you fan editor folk do. Work your magic. Do it I say!
