Brief New Viral Video For PROMETHEUS; "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"

AVPGalaxy have come across this new viral video and website for Prometheus. Clicking on the image below will take you to "What is 10.11.12?", another mysterious part of their online campaign which appears to contain even more cryptic clues for fans to sift through. Many are already speculating that the date refers to the release of the film on DVD and Blu-ray, but we'll be sure to let you know what (if anything) the site reveals. Be sure to read my 5* review of Prometheus by clicking HERE to check it out.

In the distant future, two superpowers control Earth and fight each other for all the solar system's natural resources. When one side dispatches a team to a distant planet to terraform it for human colonization, the team discovers an indigenous race of bio-mechanoid killers. Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Saw Prometheus this afternoon. I really liked how it existed in the same world as "Alien" without really acting as a prequel. Great cast as well.

DVD/CD/Bluray releases only come out on Tuesdays. The 11th of October is a Thursday. I have a feeling this will end up being much more interesting than we think. There's no way he could release a sequel by October, or it's very unlikely, but why advertise a video release two days after the film is released?

@53...Haha, good for you, bud. I'm hoping as well that I can hit the comic book store and try and get some comic books. The old ones are pretty good with the prices ($3 - $5), but with the 'new' ones, they are like $8 or $9 more than the older ones. I'm really looking forward to completing the "Infinity Gauntlet" series. I've never read any of them, but, man, they look marvelous (no pun intended). Thanos, man. He's just the pure bad@ss of the MU.

Spidey63 and IM53, I've been rereading all the books that pertain to the Gauntlet. Just finished Thanos Quest and Infinity Gauntlet and started the Infinity War. Adam Warlock is a MUST in the MCU if they do GotG and go cosmic. Dude talks to beings like Galactus and Eternity like they're annoying step children, love him!
TheAmazingSpidey63
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/9/2012, 5:01 PM
TheMyth - Adam Warlock in the big MCU? Oh, HELL YEAH!! Hell, Marvel Studios has to bring along Warlock at some point since we've gotten an appearance from the big and mighty Thanos. Adam Warlock and GotG are a MUST when it comes to the cosmic/mystical side of the MCU. A fight sequence between Thanos and Adam Warlock?

I would literally scream with joy. JOY, I tell you!! :)

MisterBabadook - 6/9/2012, 5:52 PM
@Johnnyisquick Yes, but why do we need to be reminded of that date? Especially via viral marketing. Must be a special feature.

@TonyEboy they explained that the engineers contaminated DNA was the core genetic make up for humans. The better question is why all the hieroglyphs kept reappearing if the engineers had already left. Cuz they show the engineers genes deteriorate and reassemble.

Since 10-11-12 is a Thursday it is most likely a theatrical event. DVD & Blu-Ray releases are usually on Tuesdays. I heard somewhere that there is close to 21 minutes of additional footage in the Director's Cut and it is possible that they are re-releasing Prometheus on October 11, 2012 with the extra 21 minutes of footage. It would be perfect for fans of the film and commercially appropriate since Halloween will be just around the corner. 2nd theory is that Ridley Scott already has Prometheus 2 in the can and that it will be released on that date. Scott did say that his Alien prequel would be in two parts. And there is definitely a lot left to be explored on LV-223.
SteveBosell
SteveBosell - 6/9/2012, 8:48 PM
@TonyEboy From what I gather the Engineer drank that liquid to create life on earth. His body was broken down on a cellular level and restructured into the first organisms on earth. Also, the liquid he drank had a gold tinge to it so I don' t think it was the same liquid seeping from the vases on LV-223.

That's just one of the many things still left to explore in Prometheus. That's why I really love this movie. I saw it for a 2nd time today and I found more this time around.

Spoiler - Why does everyone keep saying its not a prequel? That was clearly a xenomorph at the end.
Thegoddamnbatman52

It would be ridiculously cool if Ridley Scott ended up shooting more while he was filming the first then split them into two films haha very unlikely I know, most likely this is for the blu ray release and who knows maybe we will get that directors cut that I want to see so bady, I really loved this movie the alien mythology is my favorite si fi universe in cinema and the fact that this movie finally gave some explanation to the space jockey now formally known as the engineers really shows me that this wasn't just fan service from Ridley Scott, this was something he was passionate about and I do hope we get a sequel that goes even more in depth into the engineers and maybe a little bit more of a clear bridge to alien but even if he doesent go into the xenomorphs at all in the next film I'd be fine with that because the engineers are really interesting on there own merits
Thegoddamnbatman52
Thegoddamnbatman52 - 6/9/2012, 10:18 PM
@TheBigBoss917 it wasn't necessarily a prequel, yes it does take place in the same univers as the alien films (avp non counting, there not cannon) and yes it does predate the first alien film in that universes time line but the engineers are the big mystery/threat in these films and not the zxenomorphs and that's what makes it not a prequel more than likely he's never going to touch on why the engineer in the first alien in the derelict had all of those eggs because that's that story but at least we do know for sure that the engineers did create them but they also created other horrifying forms of biological war fare besides the zxenomorph so in the grand scheme of things the engineer having those eggs in the derelict isn't a big deal because you know hey it's just another weapon to them like those snake creatures in Prometheus and the big octopus type of monster so it's not a prequel because it's a space jockey story and not a xenomorph story

Aeyan - 6/9/2012, 10:33 PM
The snakey worm things in the chamber were not part of the creative process. They were a byproduct of the genetic fluid created by the Engineers. The result of the meal worms coming in contact with the substance is what brought about the snake like worm creatures. Not sure if anyone caught that tiny detail during the movie, but I sure as hell did. Regardless that still doesn't make it a good movie.

if androids don't have emotion why did David poison the guy with the wine? I don't understand that part. Was it because he wanted to see what would happen?

People say you don't get any answers but actually if your smart you get most of the answers but they are not shaved in your face like a dumb mans film.

The start was him sending his DNA into earths water to make people.
The planet was an alien weapons test facility where it went wrong and back fired on them.
I believe humans were an experiment, they left directions to there world as they know once our technology reaches a certain point we become a threat.
Earth was to be used to test there weapons on a large scale, thus the main reason for creating us ( lab rats folks)
All pretty clever if you ask me, every person who told me they did not like this movie did not figure it out, alot like the last episode of lost.
