The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

More depth in that one scene then in Raimi's entire trilogy...

I like everything in this movie except for The Lizard. Not his design so much as how ImageWorks handled the CGI. Looks "weightless"— like Green Lantern's VFX.

First review I've found on teh internet gave it four stars, said it was as good as The Avengers... Don't know if it's real, but there was a premiere today, wasn't there

Just wondering whether this kind of acting will suit the fan boys who complained about Raimis version.

This seems to have a more grounded reality tone to it rather than the comic book feel that The Avengers had.

How come everything with a little bit of romance in it is compared to Twilight?
Does this look like a movie with a depressed teenage girl, who can't choose between a pale man or a dog? No.

This is obviously NOTHING like Twilight.
And if you read the comics, there was romance in that too! I didn't see anyone compare the comics to Twilight.

People should think before they speak.

Wow. So just because we actually get to see peters chemistry with Gwen on the big screen, that makes this twilight??

Superman returns was twilight
Transformers was twilight
Titanic was twilight
Avatar was twilight

The 1 thing i am sensing from all this footage is that Gwen finds out Peter is Spiderman...but that never happened in the comics...

Not sure i like that really...

* face palm*
Does the internet bring out the tard and douche in some people?
*sigh* it's like talking to 13 year olds that call everything "gay".
There's no point in trying to be rational with them.

@ SuperSomething
It's like the Ultimate comics when Peter tells MJ he's Spider-Man.
But instead of it being MJ, it's Gwen.
It adds an interesting dynamic, where not only is her father risking his life everyday, but so is her boyfriend.
Also, I've wondered this for some time.
Was Stan Lee a stoner back in the 60s?
Since Mary Jane's name is, well, Mary Jane?
AKA weed?
