Could this be a sign of what's to come on the big screen? Hopefully not, but it does make for a pretty cool alternative character skin in Beenox's upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man video game. In the comic books, Spider-Man underwent this transformation after being sprayed in the face by one of Plantman's mutagenic flowers. He eventually returned to normal (it involved the villain being turned into a tree in a story which is probably better off forgotten) but you can see what he looked like in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #437 (by Tom DeFalco and Rafael Kayanan) below.
