Batman And Superman To Team-Up On The Big Screen Before JUSTICE LEAGUE

Although not quite in the way you're probably expecting! Channing Tatum is in talks to play Superman and Will Arnett will play Batman in...Lego: The Piece of Resistance. Disappointing, eh? Read on for details.

Earlier this evening, Variety's Jeff Sneider Tweeted: "Fans of BATMAN & SUPERMAN will NOT have to wait until JUSTICE LEAGUE to see their favorite superheroes share the bigscreen..." As you can probably imagine, those using the social networking site were on the edge of their seats as a Batman/Superman movie finally appeared to be a very real possibility (remember that the site also broke the news that Warner Bros. are working on a Justice League movie). What actually followed was the crushing disappointment that he was instead referring to the fact Will Arnett will voice Batman and that Channing Tatum is in talks to voice Superman in upcoming animated flick, Lego: The Piece of Resistance. The film will be directed by Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs team Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and will feature a blend of live-action and Lego-based animation.

Wow, so Lego is actually making films now?! Who would have thought that those little bricks could have come so far?

Oh well, a JL film will be here one day folks, so we will just need to be patient.
AutobotCommander84 - 6/26/2012, 2:17 PM
Channing Tatum as the voice of Superman? I know I'm in the minority on this, but, AWESOME!!!
HavocPrime - 6/26/2012, 2:17 PM
I was so excited until I read Lego, then I got even more dissapointed when Channing Tatum came about.
OverlyManlyMan - 6/26/2012, 2:17 PM

Was wondering why twitter went crazy for a second. I sense a middle finger coming from everyone who reads this article.
Knightrider - 6/26/2012, 2:24 PM
The person who made the tweet is a bit of a muppet, seeing as the JL he refers to is live action and this is basically animation.

He might as well have called the Avengers movie a trilogy due to the previous animated movies that have already been released.
BarnaclePete - 6/26/2012, 2:24 PM
Should be fun.
santoanderson - 6/26/2012, 2:26 PM
GOB Bluth as Batman? I've made a huge mistake...
Boyle360 - 6/26/2012, 2:26 PM
Awesome! I can't wait for this Lego movie!
superotherside - 6/26/2012, 2:27 PM
That would be fun. This could be really great actually. :)
BattlinMurdock - 6/26/2012, 2:27 PM
Way to get the ball rolling, DC...

But in any case...I'm all for Will Arnett and Tatum. All for it.
Durf - 6/26/2012, 2:29 PM
Wow, Lego gets this done before DC and WB? Sad. Really got my hopes up when I read Batman and Superman in a movie together though, then that came crashing down when I realized it was only a Lego movie.
6of13 - 6/26/2012, 2:29 PM
I read the title of this article and thought [frick] yeah then I read the teaser and just thought [frick].
Got my hopes up for nothing.
Himura - 6/26/2012, 2:30 PM
I dont understand when adults bash on a movie that is clearly intended for kids. Its freakin' LEGOs folks.

Btw I love Legos so I'll probably go watch this lol
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:31 PM
@Durf - LMAO!! That's exactly what I thought. And Channing Tatum as........S-Su-Superman?! No..........Just no. >:(
DragonofDarknessXIII - 6/26/2012, 2:32 PM
Happy June Fools day....
cyclopstb - 6/26/2012, 2:32 PM
Brandon Routh as Superman Again, not Tatum !
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:33 PM

Get on it, WB!! NOOOOWW!! >:(
InfiniteMonkey - 6/26/2012, 2:34 PM
DAFUQ?! LOL!
Durf - 6/26/2012, 2:35 PM
@63: Yeah there are no words to describe how much of a fail Tatum voicing Superman is. Epic just doesn't cut it!
KNIGHT3000 - 6/26/2012, 2:36 PM
What a f#ckin waste
ACira - 6/26/2012, 2:36 PM
I hope DC doesn't rush this road to Justice League they've got planned. It's better to be patient and be rewarded with quality, rather than expect it all soon and suffer from rushed films.
RorMachine - 6/26/2012, 2:39 PM
Arnett and Tatum actually sound perfect to voice those characters in a movie like this. It's LEGO guys, don't get your Avengers undies in a twist.
DrRockso - 6/26/2012, 2:39 PM
Will Arnet's voice is perfect for Batman. Arrested Development is the funniest sh it ever
PantherX - 6/26/2012, 2:39 PM
They got Channing Tatum to voice Superman? Talk about rubbing salt into the wound.
Knightrider - 6/26/2012, 2:39 PM
@ACira spot on! As much as I want a film, I want it to be good, and that takes time.

The way the reporter went about reporting this was nuts, he knew fans would have got the wrong expression from that statement. I have no problem with there being a Lego movie, as it will be for kids, just a problem with the way it was reported.

ClaireLannister2016 - 6/26/2012, 2:41 PM
Ok what.....the [frick]?
StarSpangledBruce - 6/26/2012, 2:42 PM
Let's see what kind of film experience the Lego company has had.

[frick].
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:42 PM
@Durf - Yes, my friend. There isn't any word in this existing universe on how epicly horrible this will be if they get Channing Tatum (not to say that I hate the guy, but him voicing Supes? No. N. O.).
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 6/26/2012, 2:43 PM
Change the title NOW!
95 - 6/26/2012, 2:44 PM
At first, this Lego movie meant nothing to me. But now they have my interest. C'mon DC, your turn.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:44 PM
@StarSpangledBruce - LMAO, I like how the cover says "First LEGO Movie." Oh, boy. XD
Doctorwho22 - 6/26/2012, 2:44 PM
[frick].
Knightrider - 6/26/2012, 2:45 PM
This report of Jeff Sneider reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer preys for Gods help then the Phone rings a a voice says "Hello, Homer. This is God......frey Jones"

So Jeff Sneider could have written "Lego are making a kids movie based on Batman and Superman, to tie in with their recent game release"

However he went for the 'Get hopes up, shoot them down' technique, which A) Annoys people and B) Damages the what could be a fun kids movie, because now everyones anger is aimed at it.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:46 PM
@THEDARKKNlGHT1939 - Yes. I agree.

Please change the title of this article. I (and many other CBMers) found it misleading and misinformative. Thanks.
OdinsBeard - 6/26/2012, 2:46 PM
so like Wreck-It Ralph with legos?
D117 - 6/26/2012, 2:47 PM
DC is such a joke
Durf - 6/26/2012, 2:47 PM
@63: Yeah completely wrong. Personally, I think he is hit or miss as an actor. But his voice is in no way Superman. Arnett on the other hand is an excellent choice for Batman. That is one I get behind
CaptainObvious - 6/26/2012, 2:47 PM
I thought April Fool's was 2 months ago.
OdinsBeard - 6/26/2012, 2:49 PM
this doesn't sound like it's solely about these two characters. just that they'll make an appearance
CaptainObvious - 6/26/2012, 2:51 PM
This would be interesting if they got Tim Daly and Kevin Conroy to do the voices. Or, oh I don't know- DO A DAMN LIVE ACTION BATMAN/SUPERMAN MOVIE.
Durf - 6/26/2012, 2:52 PM
@Captain: lol, agreed!
ClarkWilson91 - 6/26/2012, 2:53 PM
It's stuff like this that makes DC look bad or at least Warner Bros. WB is sitting on a gold mine because they have all of there characters, but refuse to do anything good with them. Sometimes I think about going Marvel...
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:53 PM
@Durf - Yeah. He is an actor who, in some movies, is good, but in others, umm, not really. And if you just listen to his voice, it just doesn't "sound" like Superman. SUperman is supposed to have a patriotic, humbled voice. With Tatum, I just don't hear that. So, no. Sorry, but no. Like I said, I don't hate the dude, but I just don't think he's the right pick for someone like Superman. With B-man, I guess Arnett is an okay choice. We'll see soon enough.
TheAmazingSpidey63 - 6/26/2012, 2:53 PM
@CaptainObvious - Yes. That would definitely be good. :)
Durf - 6/26/2012, 2:54 PM
@63: agreed. Definitely will have to wait and see
Optimus83 - 6/26/2012, 2:56 PM
