Talking to IGN Movies, Bryan Singer (X-Men, X-2) has confirmed that Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class sequel will be called Days of Future Past. The title has been rumoured for a while now, but this is the first official word we've heard from someone involved with the sequel. Revealing that it will deal with, "aspects of that comic" it is based on, Singer seemingly hints that time travel will indeed play a role as he discusses an expanded universe and more connectivity between these prequels and the past X-Men movies. Does this mean that we'll see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine appear? How about the "Original Five" X-Men? Stay tuned for further details as we get ever closer to the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past in July, 2014.

"I can say that it's being written right now and it will start shooting in a few months. It's going to be very ambitious; it's called Days of Future Past and it deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things. I don't want to give any of it away. Matthew Vaughn will be directing and I'm totally excited about it."

"I think there's a strong desire to broaden out the universe. I mean, the X-Men universe is every bit on its own as big as the Marvel universe. I think it's time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films as Marvel has done so well. You may seem some of that."

Pretty cool title

Rock on. First Class was great, loved the scene when Charles trains Magneto to move the big Satellite dish. Very well done.
Frogman - 8/1/2012, 5:08 PM
Wait for the fan rage. Despite First Class being a great film so many people moaned that it wasn't identical to the comic...

Look forward to this even if I've not read the story it's based on, First Class was brilliant.
BlackCondor - 8/1/2012, 5:09 PM
Was First Class confirmed to be a reboot to the series?
ClaireLannister2016 - 8/1/2012, 5:10 PM
FAIL. Should have been Brokeback Mutants 2.
DeadManDann - 8/1/2012, 5:17 PM
I'm very curious to see what they do with this 'cause it'll clearly differ from the comic version.
JDUKE25 - 8/1/2012, 5:18 PM
Branching out is fine, but start by bringing in the familiar faces first!
LucasMend - 8/1/2012, 5:19 PM
We'll see how that turns out
druzod2501 - 8/1/2012, 5:26 PM
the X-men franchise is a hot mess. They should've done at least one true sequel to First Class to smooth out the continuity bumps before trying something this ambitious

Sabconth - 8/1/2012, 5:34 PM
Loving the trend Dark Knight started by having your sequels be unique titles rather than just X-Men First Class 2.
Spidey31 - 8/1/2012, 5:35 PM
Sounds Like a lot, I don't know they shoul keep it simple.
NerdyGeek - 8/1/2012, 5:35 PM
First Class ruled, looking forward to DOFP!
sansClaymore - 8/1/2012, 5:35 PM
BISHOP!
RorMachine - 8/1/2012, 5:36 PM
ha, of course. Had it been a straight follow up !Ugh, they should have tied it into the past films somehow"..they do that..."Ugh, should have done a straight sequel"
continuezero - 8/1/2012, 5:37 PM
@sansClaymore As much as I hope to see Cable in the movies as he is one of my all time favorite Marvel characters they really need to develop Cyclops and Jean first. Cable's relevance is limited without the Cyclops and Jean characters being explored first. What I would really hope for would be some back story with Havok, Cyclops and Corsair first to establish a bit of that family aspect and then maybe move forward but given the timeline these movies are using it might be too early for Cable. But who knows..

I liked 1st class so I'm looking 4ward 2 it.

Magneto owned that is all.
Bread - 8/1/2012, 5:40 PM
I wonder if it's gonna have anything to do with wolvie
RyRy85 - 8/1/2012, 5:40 PM
Wolverine was a big part of that story. He'll have to have
somewhat of a big role, unfortunately...
GreenHalJordan - 8/1/2012, 5:45 PM
If they pass First Class as a reboot to the franchise then it's fine. If not, the "connectivity" will make even less sense because of First Class already having MANY continuity problems. That being said-it was still awesome and i cant wait for this!
santoanderson - 8/1/2012, 5:45 PM
I'm getting a little bothered with Hugh as Wolverine simply because all of these new X-films are prequels. Prequels that predate the original film by 30 or 40 years. The problem is Hugh looks noticeably older now than he did back then. I won't buy that Wolverine is younger in Origins than he was in the 2000 film because Hugh looks 15 years older in the newer film.

If they continue making Wolverine movies, they really ought to make them sequels.
darkjoker1 - 8/1/2012, 5:48 PM
ok cool title cant wait for this movie :D its going to be awesome with them connecting the X-men movies now the movies make more sense expect for orgins what was crappy shitty movie....
comiccow6 - 8/1/2012, 5:50 PM
Sentinels? Please yes. That thing in X3 was by far the worst thing they did, to me.
AnotherSinisterClone - 8/1/2012, 5:51 PM
id give anything to see Bishop or Cable in ANY x-men movie. love 90's Bishop with the mullet. the animated series did a great job with the story, this should be awesome. Lets just hope its not 2014's most error filled movie like first class was.
gepeto - 8/1/2012, 5:52 PM
1st class is a great CBM one of the best for me and a great follow up for mattvaughn after KICKASS which i feel is in the top 10 CBM of all time easily...so this film could be TDK of this xmen universe even though X2 will be a really hard film to compare to only because x2 is in my CBM top 10 and no1 for a long time for me Before the second wave of CBM...so bring it on should be EPIC...MATT VAUGHN IS NO2 COMIC BOOK DIRECTOR FOR ME AND NO1 WE ALL KNOW
RidiculousFanBoyDemands - 8/1/2012, 5:53 PM
I can't wait for this movie! I was hoping the rumor was true.
lvcl - 8/1/2012, 5:53 PM
hope they make it well or it´s gonna be the last X-Men movie for years
StormLoganSummers - 8/1/2012, 5:54 PM
People need to forget about seeing the original first class appearing; Fox doesn't appear to be interested. There will obviously be major changes from the comics given characters that were in the first movie, particularly the mediocre team, but I suspect that the basics will be kept--the Brotherhood (Magneto's in this case) will attempt an assassination on some political figure, X-Men will try to stop the assassination, and a future member of the X-Men will travel to the past to warn them about the assassination.
Mrsinister - 8/1/2012, 5:55 PM
They need Cable or Bishop for it to work IMO. Though the comic was great they dont have Rachel summers. Itd be great if they did though
SeaSerpentine - 8/1/2012, 5:55 PM
I hope Apocalypse is in it.

@Sabconth The trend that Dark Knight started?
You mean after movies like like X-Men: The Last Stand, Batman Returns, Batman & Robin, Batman Forever, Superman Returns, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer?
SuspenseSmith - 8/1/2012, 5:57 PM
good solid title.
CapFan79 - 8/1/2012, 6:03 PM
Love it. This is a chance to do a First Class sequel and X4 in one movie!
Mime - 8/1/2012, 6:07 PM
The actual story was the best X series yet. I hope it's given justice.
spideyboy - 8/1/2012, 6:10 PM
Hopefully this explains the [frick]ed up continuity in these films.
MARVELPSYCHO79 - 8/1/2012, 6:18 PM
Will there be Sentinels?
ckal - 8/1/2012, 6:19 PM
Should just forget the previous X-movies ever existed.

And Bryan Singer, stay away from X-Men.
batmanmovie2012 - 8/1/2012, 6:20 PM
Best cbm of 2014
SUPERBATSPIDERMAN - 8/1/2012, 6:20 PM
I want Apocalypse and Mr. Sinister to be in it. Make it so Matthew Vaughn.
Sanderman - 8/1/2012, 6:21 PM
I'm not familiar with days of future past. Why is it a bad choice of a sequel?
Fogs - 8/1/2012, 6:25 PM
@grif - I was thinking just that. This is a gold opportunity for them to correct the messy continuity they broke in XMO:W and XMFC.
laughterman26 - 8/1/2012, 6:27 PM
well i helmed this movie this is what i would do, [as stated above] have time travel as a possibility, have deadpool cameo or tie in to the dp movie. have scott and alex have a meaning heartfelt conversation, which leads scott to join the x men, have some type of time stream structural damage that causes the different times to merge into one time. creating its own timeline, and I WANT TO SEE MAGNETO KICK SOME [frick]'ING ASSSSSS
laughterman26 - 8/1/2012, 6:28 PM
SORRY "IF I HELMED"-
Fogs - 8/1/2012, 6:28 PM
@Sanderman - it's not bad. I suggest you look out for it. It was pretty breakthrough for the time. BTW it had inspired the Terminator movie.
mattattack - 8/1/2012, 6:30 PM
Yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Minghagz - 8/1/2012, 6:30 PM
meh... I love the X-Men but I don't like Fox having rights to them. I've been disappointed with almost all the X-Men movies to be honest. But I'll keep an open mind. I just don't think Fox has what it takes to capture what Marvel Studios has done.
Oxbow - 8/1/2012, 6:31 PM
@grif and others: what are you thinking when you say time travel is going to fix the continuity in all the fox xmen movies? They introduced havok without cyclops, fr'chrissakes...so it's gonna be hard to get it like the comics, but maybe they will do it halfway?
ATrueHero1987 - 8/1/2012, 6:32 PM
Let's hope it's good as X-Men:FC or better.
